BEWARE!! I am deeply disturbed by this particular imaging department. I hardly ever write reviews. But I have had many services, images, and operations at Hoag and I am saddened by how disingenuous I believe the whole process was at this imaging facility. I was referred here by my doctor for an echocardiogram. This service was preauthorized with my insurance, and despite multiple requests for cost that were met with no estimate, I was only provided the preliminary estimates from my insurance ($0 or $50 for an office visit). I received a bill for nearly $500 from Hoag. My insurance company stated that this service (echocardiogram) is 100% covered. However, my insurance determined that the bill was submitted as a hospital outpatient service which is why the coverage is different. The hospital is a completely different address! Multiple representatives with my insurance, Hoag billing, and doctors office have acknowledged that the services were not performed at a hospital. As you can see from google images, Hoag does not present the facility as a hospital as the front of it says "Health Center" and the front directory clearly says "Physician Offices". Nothing about being a hospital. I am not even sure if this facility meets the definition of a hospital per the CDC and WHO (Permanently staffed by at least one physician, can offer inpatient accommodation, and can provide active medical and nursing care.) However, according to their billing representatives, this center bills as a hospital anyway because they identify themselves as a hospital. My insurance seemed unaware of this. More alarmingly, according to the health summary I was provided by this imaging center, they used the Newport Beach hospital address (One Hoag Road) - which is not where the service was performed. At first, they advised me that if the doctor resubmitted the order, they would be able to change the codes and have this fixed. But now they say they will not change it using the defense: You signed a document stating that you agreed to be billed this way. To me....assuming I did sign it....I don't understand how this can hold; In order for a referred patient to receive service for a potential heart condition, the patient needs to sign a document stating the facility bills as a hospital - despite the staff knowing they are not a hospital (2 of their own billing representatives acknowledged this was not conducted at a hospital). According to mass.gov, fraud "occurs when someone intentionally misrepresents the truth, or withholds or conceals important information, resulting in harm, such as monetary loss." To me....this is fraudulent and should not hold. All that said, I discussed with the gal doing my echo, my doctor, and my insurance that I recently lost my job going into this. I have record of every call that I've made and lately it's been escalating the issue with no answer back. Now I'm feeling pressured to pay this bill to save my credit and avoid collections for what I believe to be a fraudulent bill. I really feel taken advantage of and I am not sure why Hoag, a multi-billion dollar organization, condones this practice. Someone really needs to investigate this and send my money back. This is outrageous.

This location is great - from making the appointment, checking in, technician, to getting results. They have weekend appointments so i can I take care of things without affecting my work week. I get the morning appointments and I'm usually seen right on time.

This place is terrible. They never send my results to my doctor. I always have to drive by and ask for my results. They are so rude and not helpful. Don't waste your time and money to go to this place.

Had the worst experience last week at the Hoag imaging center due to the incompetence and unprofessional customer service of the front desk that was in charge of scheduling and checking us in. That center has the rudest and most disrespectful receptionist I have ever came across. Unfortunately the manager had left for the day so I couldn't voice those concerns.. very disappointing

Our saga started with a paramedic trip to Hoag ER. Many weeks, months later we are dealing with not acute issues now. That experience made me a Hoag fan and the love affair continues with their imaging facility. Check in is a breeze, Covid protocols clearly practiced, and the best part they ran completely on time?! Our appointment was in late afternoon and no hiccups. The ultrasound was comfortable, the tech was sincere, and the overall experience was great. If needed, this will be our first choice in the future.

Location great. Building new. Billing complete nightmare. You need to pay attention to the charges. I work in the industry and the billing department will code wrong and your insurance company will not cover thousands even when in network. Luckily, I know how to fix this, which is very time consuming. Ask for upfront charges before you have any services here. Don't make the same mistake- the head ache is not worth it.

Went this morning for a pre-op Covid test and it was quite busy. I have been to this location on prior visits but today it was quite crowded. Needless to say the reception check-in was fast and efficient and the wait not more than 7 minutes. There was only one technician managing 4 work stations and she had down to an art. Very well run and synchronized operation. The facility is clean and the staff are quite friendly and appear to love what they do. Thank you and yes I recommend this location for imaging needs, Covid testing and other services as referred by a physician.

They charge over $3000 for an MRI Their customer service sucks, I went to the advanced pavilion and the lady at the front desk refused to upload my prior exams which took me days to get on CD's (she claimed it is too much work) she said she has 25 years of experience and knows which exams are needed and which are not, when I got the report from the Radiologists at Hoag, they mentioned, they do not have a comparison from prior exams which they needed! The second time I went to Irvine to get my exam on a 3T, they screwed up and scheduled me on the wrong machine, I also had to wait two hours for the exam because they were not sure which body part to examine and were in total confusion, I had to wait for 2 hours until they figured it which body part they are supposed to image, then they took me to the wrong machine!. Absolutely horrible experience, very poor service for a hefty price of over $3000.

I had 3 tests that were scheduled back to back. Check in was easy and the young woman was very patient and pleasant. I finished the first 2 tests early and the final test wasn't scheduled for a couple of hours, but I was able to complete the Final test then. Two hours later, I had the good news results. Very impressive.

Horrible Customer Service. Scheduling is a nightmare. Sad since they overcharge more than any other imaging. Charges like Saks. Service like Walmart!

I am 73 yrs of age and always have had mission breast imaging and not been happy. I finally made a change and went to Hoag Breast Imaging Center per the advice of my insurance advantage plan and physician. I was impressed from the time I entered this location to the end of the exam. The employees at the front desk were professional, welcoming, and efficient. The technician was a welcoming, kind, respectful, and caring mammogram technician I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing! If you want care with respect, dignity, and absolute dedication I highly recommend this Hoag Imaging Center!

I went to get an Abdominal Aortic Aneurism scan and was told that Medicare does not pay for it. Well, they do, once only, providing the patient meets some conditions, which I do. It didn't matter. They insisted that it is not covered and wanted me to pay in advance. I used to respect Hoag, but now view them as ignorant at best, incompetent at worst. I'm worried about future health care with Hoag as it's pretty much the only game in town.

I had to get an MRI here, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! Female blonde tech did my scan and she was the absolute worst! Clearly inexperienced and had an attitude, I was on fire and the exam took forever!!! I had this girl twice here and I couldn't complete the exam with her either time. I finally rescheduled this scan with Advanced Technology Pavilion in Newport and I was in and out quickly and I had 0 issues! The best MRI experience I have had by far! I have since had another MRI at Hoag Newport and I had 0 issues there.

This center was such a bad experience for so many reasons that I felt it imperative to take the time out of busy life to write this for other women assigned this site for a mammogram. 1. The center itself (not the outer waiting area which is well run and clean) IS NOT Covid safe. They pack you like sardines in a small room wearing nothing but your robe and a mask. They have multiple women come in and out and not once in the 2 hours (yes that's right 2 hours) I waited did I see anyone clean, wipe down surfaces, nada, nothing. 2. They lose your records. I had an ultrasound at my OBGYN with HOAG the day prior which is upstairs from this location. However, all of the forms with this office only showed a 2017 mammogram. This concerned me and in retrospect I should have just left, however they assured me their system had a lag. Meanwhile it seemed very clear they had no record of my history and proceeded to want to do the same mammogram I had just had done upstairs in the OBGYN one day prior. 3. The Doctor was terrible. I told him I had recently had the COVID vaccine and I felt pretty sure this was a false positive (a female Dr had written about this in the newspaper but it wasn't common knowledge yet) and he told me it would only have the potential for a false positive in the arm you had the shot in. Um I am not a doctor but I felt pretty sure that is not how your lymphatic system works, but after being convinced of it while he hovered over me while I laid there topless in his office (yup he comes in and does the exam and diagnoses you, something I had never had before in a mammo visit) I felt nervous enough to allow him to proceed. 4. I am concerned that this Doctor's lack of bedside manners, the fact that he seems to want to make money more than take care of patients by packing them in and making them wait, will dissuade women from getting mammograms. This is why I am writing this. DO NOT go here. There are much better, kinder, gentler centers out there. This doctor is a bully and clearly his staff feels pressure to follow his lead. I did let a HOAG manager know when I left (front office) that I felt they weren't following COVID protocol in terms of spacing and cleanliness. I have not hear back from anyone. I am now about to pay my ridiculous bill for a false positive test I was bullied into by a Doctor only worried about his bottom line.
