I did take out on a Wednesday night. I called ahead and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I arrived 20 minutes later. There were a few people waiting outside which was a good sign that this was a good place to eat. The dining room looked full. My food was ready along with several others in the rack. I can't really say much about the service here as I only did take out. The food however was great! The curry chicken tonkatsu was crispy and big. I liked the pickled radish. The price was good. The cheese tonkatsu was also very good. It tastes really good hot and fresh. Unfortunately since I did take out, it lost its warmth. I would recommend reheating it in an air fryer if you takeout for home. This place is great and I would definitely come back again.

My son came here last weekend too, but after hearing that there were a lot of reservations so we had to go somewhere else, out of curiosity and anticipation, the whole family came to eat pork cutlet on a weekday evening. Even though it was early in the evening, I had to wait a few minutes after making a reservation. I was really surprised by the taste and price. I could understand why so many people come here. It reminded me of the delicious pork cutlet I had 20 years ago in Samseong-dong, Seoul. The portions are generous and the price is satisfactory. Personally, I think the katsuobushi, cabbage, and sauce sprinkled on Takoyaki are the best.

Beware of peanuts ???Don't eat here!!! Cheese katsu is dry. Service is HORRIBLE.Employees are ignorant and lack training about allergens. Manager could care less. While ordering, I asked waitress #1 if they have peanut in their sauce, she went to ask and told me "yes peanuts in the katsu sauce".I order my meal and said to waitress #1 "no sauce please because we have SEVERE peanut allergy.Waitress #2 brings the food, and it comes WITH the peanut sauce. I told her we don't want the sauce because of peanuts. Waitress #2 insists that sauce has no peanut, contrary to what waitress #1 says. Then waitress goes to ask, and indeed there IS PEANUT in the sauce. She could have killed my family member!!!!While paying, we told manager that employee lacks knowledge of allergen. Manager irresponsibly shrugs and says that his food may contain 16 allergens and it's not possible to list them on the menu. That's not the point, we just wanted to make sure waitress will at least go find out when a dinner asks about allergy.Unprofessional, lack of training.Beware of peanuts.

Curry tonkatsu was good! I ordered the spicy one, it has a lot of sauce and the rice was good too. A lot of parking space.

Had the Hako Tonkatsu with curry and it was amazing. Nice crisp katsu, tender pork, amazing dipping sauce and amazing curry flavor. Would definitely come back!

I come here often, but the udon is getting saltier. I added a lot of hot water. It's just like soy sauce broth. And the cabbage sauce, on the other hand, is bland and not enough in quantity. The pork cutlet was fried well, so it was soft and delicious today. Last time, it was so fried that it burned and was hard.

I'd give the karaage (fried chicken) and takoyaki 4 stars but the rest of the food 5 stars for value. (There's honestly better katsu out there, but the portions here are generous and the quality pretty good for what you're paying.) If you're going with a group and consider the portions too large, consider splitting fewer katsu plates and adding some side dishes. They also have some of the most reasonably priced drinks I've seen at an OC restaurant.Note that they're really popular. Eat outside peak hours or expect to wait up to an hour.

We go here with the family all the time. I have two toddlers and they love the noodles here.

I love Coco Ichibanya. Why do I mention this in a review for Hako? Because, I would say Hako delivers a Curry Katsu equally delicious in a different way. The curry is rich and deep in flavor and the katsu is delectably crunchy without being greasy or overly salty. It's simple in presentation, unpretentious and yummy. The service is quick even if you get it as take out. The dinner crowd can build rather quickly and the restaurant is small but worth the wait.

Very good chicken katsu. The curry sause is good but I would only order one for the table as it it good to switch the flavors while eating. The katsu chicken was tender and not greasy if your a fried food lover. I will try the sushi next time. The service was great. Best to be there at around 5pm for dinner as there was no wait. After that there's about a 15 to 20 min wait.
