Looking for a local safe storage in the area. Location is extremely clean. Easily accessible along with feeling very safe. Lexy Crawford was friendly and answered all our questions. She made the process quick and easy. Highly recommend.

Cynthia M. was very helpful and informative while showing me the two storage sizes I was interested in. The facility was clean and well lighted. There was even a clean restroom at the end of my row of storage units! I also learned the staff/facility often works closely with international students from UCI to accommodate their unique storage needs. Thanks again, Cynthia! So glad you helped me to get set up.

Similar to another reviewer, I have only had my storage unit three months and received a 33% increase. My monthly rent went from $197.20 per month to $297.20. I've had storage units before and Extra Space Storage in Irvine has proven to be the worst when it comes to the timing and amount of rent increase. Even Public Storage wasn't this bad when I rented a similarly-sized unit from them three years ago; they waited about nine months to raise my rent and it was nowhere near 33%. I found out about the rent increase via a tiny postcard that was mailed to me and almost got thrown out because I thought it was junk mail. I did not receive an email notification of the increase, which is where I receive monthly confirmation of my automatic payment. I guess Extra Space Storage thinks it's smart by doing this and people won't notice the increase, especially when they're signed up for autopay.Another thing that is upsetting is that I tried to call the facility numerous times to discuss the rent increase and they don't answer the phone. I am sick of companies taking advantage of people like this. I only chose Extra Space because the original self-storage company in Irvine I rented a unit from had an issue that prevented me from moving in when I needed to, so I basically chose the closest facility to that location and rented/moved into a unit the same day. But for those who are considering Extra Space Storage in Irvine, I would look for a privately-owned no-name storage company nearby instead. I saw several in Costa Mesa and Tustin that were a lot cheaper - and I doubt they gouge customers the way Extra Space does. I also want to point out that some of these positive reviews look fake, probably an inside job...? You should be ashamed of yourselves, Extra Space Storage in Irvine. If you are looking for Irvine self-storage, DO NOT RENT FROM EXTRA SPACE STORAGE or the same thing might happen to you. Extra Space Storage rip off Extra Space Storage pricingExtra Space Storage reviews

A friend of mine rented a unit from this Extra storage and received a letter in the mail of a 33% increase after 3 months! So people know the annual inflation rate for the last 12 months averaged 3.7%. So there is no justification for a 33% price increase after 3 months and this is simply price gouging vulnerable customers! Also, no one answers the phone for current customers and they only answer the phone if you choose "new customer-rent a unit." Storage unit companies like this one need to be seriously regulated by the government so the can't price gouge people and people are not stuck with such awful service. Save your money and do business with a more reputable and honest storage company.

Not reliable or responsive. My wife is a teacher and had a storage under her name. She was late on a payment and we were out of town on vacation. They only sent one letter to let her know she was late. They never once called her or returned my two voicemails that I sent. The manager Lexi was not compassionate nor had much perspective from a customer point of view. After she told me that supposedly my wife's phone was going straight to VM that the phone calls are only "courtesy". Which shows me that she uses that as a default answer and never really attempted to contact us. So she lied. She should not be in customer service. Also, whoever checks their voicemails...just doesn't care. If you're able to, I would avoid this place until new management/employees is in place. Unless you want to pay a $200 lien fee. Shady shady!

***Note to anyone considering this: they do use weird lock that they charge you for in order to get the locker, and you can't bring your own due to the design. I would keep that in mind when looking for a new locker***While for the most part I didn't have too many issues when I first started, most of my problems occurred when trying to end my rental. I did need to go in to find my locker since my gate code wasn't working, but that wasn't such a big deal. When it came time for me to cancel, since it was only for a short time, I found that my online account that I set up wasn't working, so I decided to call. Since it was the weekend, I didn't expect an immediate response, so I just left a voicemail asking to be called back. I waited a few days, and since I got no response, I just called again, but even though it was during business hours, no one picked up, so I left another voicemail. I didn't hear anything back until after the payment deadline, at which point they began calling me about my account being overdue. However, by this point I could no longer access the storage facility to move my lock to move out, since the payment was overdue, since the gate code was connected to the system or something. When I finally got in contact with someone, they told me the only way to move out was to pay the overdue amount to go get my lock. I tried asking her about making an exception since I did try to get in contact with them, but she insisted that it wasn't a possibility and just told me to pay. I did finally get my account to work, so I could log on and pay from there. I was frustrated, but I just paid anyway to avoid extra fees and went to move out. I wish that communication would have been better to avoid this issue in the first place, since I ended up paying over $100 to end my locker which cost less than 50 a month. Perhaps I should have been more active in trying to get my locker canceled, but with no help from customer support, it seemed like they were waiting for my payment to go overdue for them to take any action on it.Edit: they also force you to call in order to officially cancel, so selecting move out on the website essentially does nothing. Watch out for this when ending your service!

I extend my sincere gratitude to Letty O. and her team for working diligently to meet my needs when it seemed unobtainable. Even though I reserved the wrong unit, Letty and her team worked to ensure my needs were accommodated while keeping my costs within my expected range of expense. Thank you to these dedicated folks who demonstrated genuine care toward customers’ experience. 4.9 team, 4.9!

Customer be aware! Bait and switch ! I got my storage in May and 4 months later they rise the rental fee by 94% meaning from $99 to $192...without notice they said they sent by Mail but I never receive it they have my email but never sent any email notifications regards to the Increase. Very tricky company. I would stay away from this storage company as THEY ARE NOT HONEST.....BAIT AND SWITCH!!

Awful. Flat out awful. Non-functioning gate half the time. Inconvenient. Just bad. Offered no reimbursement for inconvenience. Medical professionals do not use this unit. I advise. Terrible Value.

Fantastic brand new buildings! I've used all the facilities near this one in Irvine, including here in the old now demolished units. Hands down this is the best place she should be your first choice, if for nothing else their great staff. Lori helped me with the easiest move in process, and it was really refreshing to have someone so friendly. Her co workers were great as well, and all were quick to assist me with changes I needed to make. Highly recommend!
