Daiso has always been known to be the japanese version of the dollar store but as prices have increased most things here are typically not a dollar anymore regardless of what the yen to US conversion maybe. Still the store offers a variety of high quality products, some of my favorites are actually the cleaning supplies (brushes, scrubbers, etc.) Some of the food items offered are also a good price, sometimes cheaper than what you find at the adjacent Mitzuwa Market. I also like the gift bags and gift wrapping options which often have cute designs.

This store is spacious, clean, and well stocked for the most part. Occasionally, they might be a bit sparse in some areas, but on average, they seem to carry more inventory than other Daisos. They carry some items here that aren't commonly found elsewhere, so it's usually worth a browse if you're near a Daiso. Most items here are generally priced at the $1.75 that Daiso is famous for, but watch out for the specially priced items. For example, an iced tea bottle here was $6, which is priced more than what some markets sell them for. As a note, they list their closing time at 9pm, but the past couple of times I've visited, they have closed an hour earlier than the listed time.

This store is a hidden gem, offering a wide range of quality items at unbeatable prices. From kitchenware to stationery, and everything in between, you'll find it here. The friendly staff adds to the pleasant experience. I bought some organization supplies for my kitchen, they have a lot of items to choose from. If you're looking for affordable yet great-quality products, Daiso is the place to be in Irvine.

Most items are now $1.75 while items some can be over $6.25. Some of the labels printed on the items can be incorrect so watch out for that when checking out. The price no longer matches the quality of their products, unfortunately.I went during this weekend to find a long line of customers waiting to be checked out. However there was a self checkout that had only 2 people waiting so I decided to go do it myself. It was a bit confusing with the interface, but I eventually figured it out. Once done I was stopped by a lady who asked to check my receipt. Seeing as how there were 15 people waiting in line and only 2 cashiers, one would think she would open up another register instead of just standing and waiting to check receipts.

Daiso is one of those places where I feel compelled to wander around just looking for something that I might not necessarily need, but at least it's not terribly expensive. Then, there are times when there's something essential to replace, and Daiso is the only place to go for it.This was one of our missions as we meandered through Irvine's Asian markets one Saturday, finding a replacement plastic laundry basket that's compact, flexible, round, and nests. We lucked out this time because we scored two of the last three they had. Oh happy day, so easily amused. We browsed a bit, but nothing nonessential jumped out, so we left with the two baskets, nicely nested.

A good place for window shopping. It is clean and have lots of Japanese products. We went for stationary items. But they have very less options. We may go again before the next school year starts. Kids were very excited before going there but not thrilled after the shopping.

Annoying Latina clerks who act like it’s asking way too much of them to help you. If you have a question they aren’t the least helpful —they’re impatient and rude and do the most to make you seem stupid. Acting the most unhelpful towards other people of color is their definition of “professional”. To them “professional” means keep other people of color from coming to any business where they work. It’s becoming such a common problem nowadays and really freaking sad, besides annoying. Companies need to address that. Diversity is awesome, valuable, and has its place. Don’t let ignorant people monopolize it nor abuse it.

Incompetent manager and employees. Some cannot count to 20. Some cannot count to 5. Some cannot speak English. Why are they here? GO BACK TO JAPAN!!!!!!! The worker and employees here hate their lives. Please go to a Buddhist temple for 3 months to find some zen... maybe corporate needs to host some retreat for workers here because they are expressing their unhappiness in the form of anger towards customers who shop here. HELLO!!! WE DIDNT CAUSE YOU TO BE UNHAPPY. GET OVER IT! OR GET ANOTHER JOB!!! The employees here scold customers cuz they hate their miserable lives (scolding both adults and little kids). I cannot wait for Daiso Corporate to close this irvine location. It's fine, I'm ok with driving 30minutes to other stores, or better, I can buy everything I need online. I don't need Daiso and many Irvine ppl would agree. We need better businesses. This store needs to go. I hope all these people at this location lose their jobs (DO NOT move them to another location unless that location wants to get shutdown too) Almost forgot, this location SELLS EXPIRED SNACKS ALL THE TIME. Included is a review from an Irvine mom yesterday (Sunday 1/22/2023):

I witnessed an employee snatch a cart basket from a child who walked outside to follow her mom who looked to step out real quick and the little girl apologized followed by crying. As a mother I teach my children not to snatch things from others but this employee seemed to never have got this lesson in life. Manager was contacted and no apologies were given to the distraught little girl. I will take my business to a different location were employees are better trained in the subject of humanity. They should be ashamed. SMH

A great place to browse for things you didn't know you needed. This is the 99 cent store of Japan but most things cost $1.75 to $6. I have gotten many dishes, bowls, sake cups and snacks. My daughter loves their stationary and theres often Sanrio goodies minus the Sanrio prices. Definitely worth a visit if you haven't been yet.
