I've been on the lookout for a specific Sonia Sanchez book and when i walked in to browse i was delightfully surprised to find they had it in stock. I've currently been reading quite a bit of Toni Morrison, Octavia Butler and Angela Davis and this bookstore is a literal dream come true! I enjoyed perusing the different books they had on sale. The had a good selection of Young Adult Novels, Afrofuturism, photo books, graphic novels, a few Hardcover of classics like Beloved by Toni Morrison and children's books. Be careful a few of the books here might inspire you to fight against the Patriarchy & Racism! Support your local bookstores!

Highly recommend this gem in our own backyard. Today I visited and had the pleasure of meeting Asha the owner. She was knowledgeable and inviting. She was quoted in Forbes as saying, "I want the physical shop to help facilitate a moment of pause and reflection and affirmation for folks through literature," and she has done just that. The selection and space are just that. Will definitely be returning as well as ordering my books from Asha! Thank you for making your dream a reality.

Comfortable, great selection, and it feels like returning to family every time I visit, even if I never met any of the other patrons before.

I FINALLY made my way to LA to check out The Salt Eaters Bookshop. I’m been following the shop since their go fund me started in 2020 and man is it even better than what was described. From the Zora Neale Hurston wallpaper, to the open and free flowing space, to the employees… this place is a haven for this Black girl and avid reader. Can’t wait to come back!

I felt so grateful to visit on a day Asha Grant was there and I got to meet her + experience the shop. It’s so lovingly laid out and intentionally set up. The selection isn’t enormous. It’s a boutique bookshop. But it’s proof that quality over quantity is always the right move. I found several books for my sister’s child who is a they/them and was so glad that as an auntie who is still learning how best to support them, I could walk out with books that will help us all. I think it’s so special that there’s a give/get shop within the shop to help those who may not be able to afford to buy new books! That’s such an asset for the community! The decor is so welcoming and has such a positive vibe. It’s a great location. I could go on and on! But just visit. This is a fantastic bookstore!

A space for all BIPOC to read, heal and enjoy a space intended to learn and celebrate. So excited to have another space in the community to find both rare and popular literature for the community!
