AVOID AT ALL COST if timing, communication, and reliability are important to you as you plan your move.We used Desert Moving Co. & Storage to assist with our move into a new home in Palm Springs. Specifically, we leveraged their receiving, storage, and delivery services to assist as this was a vacation home where we live in Los Angeles full time. Given the logistics involved, timing and coordination were important. As we purchased most of the furniture for the new home, they were shipped, and stored at Desert Moving until we were ready to coordinate the move into our new home. It took two weeks to be able to lock down Desert Moving for an actual date. What was even more frustrating was the fact that they were supposed to be supplying us with a running list/inventory of deliveries received to include inspection for damage etc.. This never happened. It required repeated requests for an inventory of what was received and when. This never came until very late the night before the "scheduled delivery". I took the day off from work, drove to Palm Springs and waited in an empty home for move that never happened. I was told in the afternoon that a crew was not available. It required a significant effort on my part to get them to deliver the next day which required a complete scramble of my work schedule to accommodate their change in availability. (NOTE) A chair that Federal Express had record of delivering to Desert Moving was no where to be found. Desert Moving said that Fed Ex often lie about delivery when they lose merchandise. In turn, we went back to the manufacturer and a new chair delivered directly to our home. During the move in, several outdoor chairs were damaged by the movers when being assembled. A supervisor came on site, we reviewed the chairs together, and he said they would follow up for resolution. Never heard from anyone. Shortly there after we received our bill and I emailed their accounting department and the service rep with whom we had been working to inquire about reimbursement/replacement of the damaged chairs and received no response. Next thing I knew, they charged our card on file for the full amount of the invoice. After several calls and emails, I finally connected with someone who told me our service rep was no longer with the company. This does not explain their accounting department not responding to my inquires. Very long story short. What should have been a very simple fix- replacing the damaged chairs which were actually very inexpensive, turned into weeks of emails and phone calls. I was finally connected to a manager who after giving me the run around for weeks, came up with a solution. The chair that went missing, miraculously appeared and they offered to deliver the chair for me for free in lieu of paying for the damaged chairs. As I shared they lost the chair, we had it replaced over a month ago. Still no offer to make good on the damaged goods that 3 of their employees including a supervisor acknowledged while onsite during our move. Desert Moving seems incredibly unorganized. Poor communication, terrible service, and based on the shady experience with someone at the managerial level, I find them to unethical in their business practices.

We have used Desert Moving personally, on multiple occasions. They provide such excellent customer service, and care, that we have never hesitated to refer them! Having used other moving companies in the past has given us firsthand experience to compare the total process. Unequivocally, Desert Moving takes all the stress out of the move...great communication, efficient and respectful of both the customer, and all their furnishings. We are extremely happy and satisfied customers!!!

DO NOT HIRE!! I hired Desert Movers to give a small local company some business. However, although Mike, the owner, seemed nice and professional over the phone initially, the men he sent over (3 of them for $120/hr) were awful. They failed to wrap my wood furniture with the moving blankets Mike told me to get thereby causing extensive damage to my furniture during transport. I have never had such a negative experience with movers. I expect a few minor damage or scratches here and there but nothing like this. First the movers caused a huge crack in the tile of the house I was moving out of (which Mike has yet to remedy), then the failure of the men to properly wrap my wood furniture in the blankets caused extensive cracks, scratches and dents.

This company is racist and judges people based on their tattoos. Specifically Jamie made me feel uncomfortable.

Kudos to Desert Moving Company & Storage ! Thank you for making my move from Palm Desert into your storage facilities. Part One is now accomplished until I find my next home in Northern California. From the first contact with " Doug " who was gracious in answering my questions and setting me up with " Abraham " ( very polite and knowledgeable " ) to the Team that came out on moving day, you made my life so much easier. Moving is stressful and you honestly were professional and courteous at every turn. A " thank you " also to your crew within the warehouse who helped my sister and me when we came over a couple of times for used boxes. So helpful and it is nice to have those used boxes available for our packing. You are ALL deeply appreciated ~ Nancy

The company gave a very fair estimate and arrived ready for the big move. It took two trucks with six men. All of them were very courteous and worked diligently to ensure a speedy move. No time was wasted. As in all moves, a very limited number of items did not survive, but I can always purchase them again. They were not that expensive. The movers packed loose items and it was a pleasure dealing with everyone involved.

I had used DMC in the past when Robert Sabo was directly involved and was very happy with their services, and even recommended them to clients. I had used their moving services twice previously. However, when I hired them to move my items from my storage unit in Bermuda Dunes on Sept. 17, 2021, to my present home in Palm Desert, I was very disappointed when I discovered later that my large 2004 Power Mac G5 tower was missing! It looks very expensive, however, it is old and the only reason I kept it was because it contained many files from over the past years. Basically it's just a big electronic file cabinet since it can't connect to the internet, however, it was still valuable to me for keeping my past files. I looked at every nook and cranny of our house, and it is simply not here, although I know it was inside the storage unit since I personally took it out and put it back in. Since I've been unpacking the past month, I've noticed a few other items to be missing. Some of the boxes were not taped up, since I had opened them while they were in storage to retrieve some items, so I guess perhaps the temptation may have been too great for the movers to swipe a few items. I called DMC and talked to their manager Doug (and have since left a message for Robert Sabo and his parents, the owners) who was not at all helpful. The other moving companies did an inventory of the items that they moved so that was how they kept themselves accountable. I must say that although some moving companies in the past were great, some were not because of causing damage to some items, or having unpleasant attitudes, I have never once had ANYTHING go missing in any of my previous moves. However when I asked the manager Doug if they did an inventory list for the move that they did for me, he said it was for only out-of-state moves! That seems like a HUGE LOOPHOLE. Whether moving out of state or within the state, the risk is the same that some items can go missing when loading onto the truck and loading off of the truck. In this case it was simply a short move with some boxes and some items that I assumed they would do an inventory of. I should have stayed and watched them as they loaded my items on to their truck however, I trusted them to take care of things since I've used DMC in the past and it was just a short move from Bermuda Dunes to Palm Desert. NOW I KNOW, the danger of missing items is the same as if it's a long move vs. a short move. Doug the manager has refused to take any responsibility for the missing Apple computer tower, and so far no one from the company has thus far offered a fair solution at all. He is requesting video tapes! WOW. The DMC workers involved were Eddy, Andrew, and Asuncion aka Shawn. BE FOREWARNED: Do not trust this company to do your moves, as they do not do any inventory control, and they do not advise you to, not do they advise you to oversee their workers when moving items, and they do NOT take any responsibility for missing items at all. The manager's lack of compassion and bad attitude says it all: They just do not care about what happened! This is NOT what customer service is about, and seems like it's something they do not understand and certainly do not provide. I would NOT ever recommend them to anyone now, whereas in the past, I have!

The employee movers were great, but I wouldn't use this company again or recommend them. I was quoted a move from Indio to Winchester with 3 movers and an 18 wheeler on a Saturday. What I got was 2 guys late on Saturday because the 3rd no showed for work or the truck I ordered wasn't available not sure which because I was given both excuses by the same person. The two guys that did show up on Saturday brought a 27' truck. A third guy showed up a couple hours later but when my stuff didn't fit in the truck we had to wait for a van to show up to load the rest. Not until the truck was fully loaded did they tell me they would see me MONDAY when they deliver everything I own. I never agreed to this but had no choice since it took all day to load the truck. I would have packed differently had I known this was my only way to vacate the house same day so new owners could move in. Needless to say I was NOT happy. I didn't have plans to move on Monday. All my clothes, dog beds, dog food, medication, toothbrush and work stuff was in the truck. Did I mention how hot it was that weekend? Not ideal for my new computer or printer or medication. I have employees so I get no shows happen. All they had to do was communicate with me. I could have packed essentials in my car and let the rest go in the truck. Instead they made an executive decision with my belongings. Who does that? The guys who helped me move? I'd hire them for the company I manage. I told them to call me when they were ready for another job. They were professional, efficient and eager to please. They pointed out damage to my furniture before moving it so I'd know they didn't do the damage. The legs on my end tables however did not survive the 3 days of weight on them and 2 legs cracked. A couple boxes collapsed from the weight also so I lost a couple glass vases as well. This was the worst move in all my adult life and the most expensive. Tried calling the owners but they're conveniently not available. Full disclosure, I did reschedule 3-4 times due to my new construction build delays. Even so, I communicated with them as soon as I found out. Maybe they were banking on another reschedule. Either way, communication is key.

We recently moved from Palm Desert to Arizona and used Desert Moving Company. They were prompt, efficient, courteous, and very careful with our possessions. They showed up with five men and had our three bedroom home completely loaded up in a little over three hours. The next day, they delivered our household goods to our new home in Arizona with three men. They were completely done in 3 hours 45 minutes. Everything was perfect and we would highly recommend them. We used Desert Moving to move our entire home to Arizona and were very pleased with both the service and professional manner in which they treated us. Cant say enough about the friendly service and punctuality of the men who moved our furniture. No damages and both the packing and unpacking went very smoothly and in the time frame we needed. We would definitely recommend Desert Movers to anyone looking at future moves.
