When I was involuntarily relieved on my employment in 2010, I needed private medical insurance. After an extensive search to find a broker that could advise me about my plan options, I turned to Surf City Insurance Services. I have been dealing with Dee Dee Brooks and her staff since that day. Her group set up my wife's plan when she retired a few years later. And Dee Dee was there when I transitioned to Medicare a few years after that. But that is not the story I want to tell. Recently my wife wanted to transition from her PPO to an HMO to save some money. Unfortunately she waited until nearly the last day to ask Dee Dee to make the switch. As a result, when my wife needed to go to the emergency room for a suspected blood clot, there was all kinds of confusion as to who was responsible to pay.
