Friendly service, great selection and of items to try and try before purchasing. Also has a trade in section where you can get items returned for a very discounted price. Would definitely recommend and come back again!

Employees are amazing! Everyone we spoke to was knowledgeable and friendly. Jim helped us tremendously with camping gear. He walked us through different options and explained pros and cons. We brought our son's old backpack in and he readjusted it to his current size. We bought hiking shoes for my son. I checked Amazon's prices before purchasing and they were at least $20 less at REI. Jonathan at check-out was friendly and helpful. He was great at trying to get us the best price with coupons and deals. We don't live near this location but I would gladly drive the distance just because of the awesome customer service.

Purchased a $100 bear canister and the cashier asked if I wanted to become a member for $30. I said no. Then he offered a $30 gift card with an expiration date 3 weeks away. I said no thanks as I was out of town for the next 3 weeks. Then he offers the membership for free. I agree to that. When I return the $100 bear canister I only get refunded $70 since they took the price out of the canister. In order for me to get the full $100 back I had to give up my membership. So that's exactly what I did. The manager was kind and offered a coupon but wasn't able to get my membership back. The workers were kind but the way the system works is lame. Very misleading and they lost a member. I'll go to Dicks and Walmart from now on.

I recently had a great experience at REI's bike services desk, and I'd like to share it with others who might be interested in their bike-related services and staff. As a new participant in indoor cycling, I received an old pair of cycling shoes as a gift. However, I wasn't sure if the cleats were in the right position for my feet. I visited the bike services desk hoping for advice and a possible adjustment for a small fee.The male staff member who helped me was outstanding. He was extremely friendly and energetic and went out of his way to show me the proper cleat positions based on my feet and riding posture. He also taught me how to maintain the cleats and when it would be time to replace them. As a beginner, I had many questions, but he was very patient and answered all of them thoroughly.I was impressed by the high level of customer service and expertise at REI's bike services desk, and I greatly appreciate the staff member who helped me. Thanks to him, I now have a much better understanding of cycling shoes and cleats. I would definitely recommend this bike shop to anyone looking for quality gear and excellent customer service.

This review is for the customer service at the register. I'm not a regular customer and probably haven't been in an REI store in over 20 years. I just went because I got a gift card and needed a light, waterproof jacket for an upcoming trip. The staff in the clothing section was really helpful with checking for sizes for anyone asking. Once I found what I wanted, I went to check out. The staff who rang me up asked if I was a member and I shared that I wasn't and probably don't need to be because I haven't been in an REI for over 20 years. He proceeded to explain the benefits of being a member and how I can get 20 percent off my purchase. I showed him my gift card and said I was fine with just that. He then, asked me about FIVE more times if I wanted a membership or if I knew anyone who would want a membership! I finally had to say, "No! I don't want a membership! I'm sure they get commission on each member they add, but sheesh! This was the most aggressive and annoying sales pitch I encountered in a long time! I hope management does a quality check for the customer service occurring at the registers because this approach was very ineffective and will deter customers from returning.

Only good for minor repairs or installs, like tubeless. Dropped my bike off and complained of a noisy hub and poor shifting. They fixed neither problem. Dropped it off again for the same issues. They improved the shifting but it's still poor. Hub issue wasn't changed at all! If you need any kind of diagnosing go elsewhere!

Limited selection, had to order online. High prices. Really pushy with their membership. I said no to the membership over 5 times. It was getting annoying. They are lucky that they are pretty much the only store of the kind in the area for outdoor gear. I miss Sport Chalet back in the day.

I love REI. It's hands down the best outdoors store. They have a great selection of backpacks, outerwear, shoes, tents, and anything else you can think of. It can be a bit overwhelming if you go in not knowing already what you want because this place is HUGE. It's in a great location with tons of parking. I recommend researching before heading to the store. Sometimes it can be hard to find an employee to help you figure out what fits your needs best. The employees that I have encountered have always been super helpful and if they don't know the answer, they've been able to point me to someone who does.

REI is a great business model for any outdoors enthusiasts and one of the keys to enjoying the best possible experience and annual savings is becoming a member, which entails a one-time $25 fee for a lifetime membership. Not bad when you consider the generous 10% dividend on every purchase you make throughout the year. On January 1st they reset your account and mail a coupon with the total dollar amount, which can be substantial if you make frequent or large purchases. In store or online it doesn't matter. We came to the Huntington Beach location because the Tustin location did not have my size in a particular model of GTX hiking boot by Vasque, a big name in the industry. A lot of the best hiking gear is tagged with European companies, such as Solomon, La Sportiva et al. Anyhow, the drive was worth the rewards, boots that fit perfectly and associated dividend. We also liked the gentleman who helped us. That's also when I examined other mid-rize hiking boots that I eventually added to the collection. This store is a lot smaller than, say, the Rancho Cucamonga location, but it's half the size of Tustin, my personal favorite. Nevertheless, they carry the full lines and can get anything from another store or help you reserve stuff via phone. Parking is ample and nearby stores close pretty early mid-week so keep that in mind when planning shopping trips

Took my bike in thinking that I needed a new gear shift and Hunter who is the best technician for bicycles ever! Was honest and proficient in fixing my gear shift without having the expense of a new one. Quality service and I will always be a loyal customer at REI

When I called about repair of my husband's bicycle, they were knowledgeable and gave me an idea of the costs for the problems we were having. They are friendly and will get the bike back so much quicker than another shop I called. REI bike shop is the best!
