Had a custom dome piston made for a 5.3 seems good so far. The piston nicked the spark plug hole with stock head gasket it turned over fine by hand seen it when i had to go back in the motor because the owner ran it low on oil and kill the bearings and other things.

I purchased custom SBC pistons from race tec, they were delivered to my Machinist in only a few weeks during the holidays last year.
