Approximately two months ago BankOfTheWest was acquired for the second time in my 30 years of holding an account. Each of the last two months money has miraculously disappeared from my account. First time it was $1 and change. Last month over $200.00. The Bank uses their computer as the only source of ACCURATE transactions which conveniently for them don’t correlate with their app for online banking. The app frequently daily fails and indicates to call the 1-800 number to once again access my account information, the pattern is afterwards money disappears. Consumers and Customers BE WARE!

I opened an account a minimum balance a few years ago. Recently I came in to convert to free checking. Coming it to have the teller set it up. It was fine at first but then began accumulating fees. When I called I was told it was not free checking even though it had been and the fees could not be removed. I came in and was told the same thing. All the employees I knew were gone and non one seemed to know anything about why fees began or how to refund them. I had to close my account and find another bank.

I am a wealth management private banking customer at bank of the west. I went in to withdraw a significant amount of money and close my accounts. I had all of the necessary documents but the branch manager Dolores Galea threatened to call the police on me, turned on the burglary lights at the bank, kicked me out of the bank (although I did nothing to deserve this treatment), then followed me outside to write down my Uber driver’s license. Dolores Galea racially profiled me because I was a black woman wearing sweats and she treated me like a criminal. I will never bank with this company again! Filing a lawsuit and moving my accounts to a BETTER BANK called First Republic that respects their customers! My real rating is NEGATIVE 10 stars! People of color do NOT bank here!

This is an overall review of the company and is not directed toward a specific branch. I had received a balance transfer offer from them which I get often and I have used often in the past. Not one bank I have ever dealt with issues a check for a balance transfer to another credit card. They claim they mailed a check and it could take 21 days to show up to the credit card I transferred to from BOW. I believe I will be getting a bill from them before the transfer ever takes place? In what decade is BOW operating in? What bank issues checks for balance transfers? There is such a thing called wire transfers???? They are just awful to deal with. Also wait time to speak to a human is well over an hour and when I finally got through to complain that the transfer has not shown up, all they kept asking me is if I wanted to have the check cancelled??? I never said that...Just awful! DO NOT USE THEM!

This branch is absolutely the WORST branch I've ever experienced in my life! DOLORES GALEA is a RACIST. I am in the wealth management program at bank of the west so I'm a private banking customer with mid 6 figures at this bank. I went in to close my accounts with 3 forms of ID (passport, ca license, and birth certificate). I had copies of my bank statements as well as provided my social security number! She asked me for my addresses and when I gave her the correct address she lied and said it wasn't on the account even though my statements proved that was a lie. When I pointed out her lie she threatened to call the police on me, turned on the burglary lights, kicked me out of the bank, then her and her colleagues came outside to write down my Uber's license plate. They treated me like a criminal but that one account could pay every teller's salary for a year at THAT BRANCH. People of color, withdraw your money from Bank Of The West. Im filing a LAWSUIT and I will not let up on getting Justice! If I could give a NEGATIVE 10 review I would! Dolores Galea should be FIRED.

This Bank thrives on $35 overdraft charges. Okay here's the long list of negative things about Bank of the West. The first thing is they don't warn you about many things that you need to know to avoid overdraft charges. So let me tell you right now how they get their overdraft charges. Cash deposits made at the ATM after 4:30 p.m. or not counted until the next business day. That's very convenient for them to get $35 charges. Also they charge $35 just to cancel a zelle transfer even if the zelle transfer is $5. I accidentally canceled two or three not seeing that there was a $35 charge and they wouldn't refund me. They only give you one Grace $35 refund per year! Compare that to Chase or Wells Fargo that gives six or more! Also they are very inconsistent the way they process things overnight and I have racked up so many overdraft charges I'm so fed up with it . Also they do not tell you that they charged an extra $3 every time you use a non Bank of the West ATM. That's in addition to the charge that that non Bank of the West ATM charges.

worst bank ever . the manager Theodore doesn't care about their clients only the money. they lie soo much . Debby doesn't have an idea what shes doing. the only people that have some brains and actually care are the tellers . if you want to bank with bank of the west go to a different branch . never open an account with them they lie about card fees and sign you up for services you don't need. he told me he would avoid the rush card fee because my banker forgot to order me a card he still charged me ! he doesn't give a damn about bank of the west clients. i will be reporting this issue to cooperate. i found many customers who hate this branch for the same reason.. Bank of the west needs new staff asap

Amazing service and an amazing team! My husband and I opened a bank account here today and it literally took 15 minutes! Most importantly, everyone was so genuinely nice! And, it wasn't like they were trying - they were just nice people! Bravo! I wish every bank was so welcoming! Thanks again Bank of the West!

This is absolutely the worst Bank I've ever done business with. I opened a checking account back in 2016 when I refinanced my home with this bank, since opening an account lowered my rate by 1/4 point. When I paid off my mortgage with them in mid 2020, I was hit with all kinds of fees, totaling over $200. I never really used the checking account and I had a balance of about $100 in that account. Since I never use the account, and I have gone paperless, I didn't notice until a couple weeks ago that they had been deducting $10 a month to maintain the checking account. They sent no notice to me stating that since I no longer had a mortgage with them my checking account was subject to fees. They did claim that they gave me this notification back in 2016, but I have no recollection of this. I would never recommend anyone doing business with these guys.

Never do business here, I opened an account here about a year ago enticed by the direct deposit bonus they were advertising at the time, immediately the banker or manager (the Asian American individual at this location) who was opening my account asks if I'm only opening the account for the bonus and if I'm going to close it after a few months, the nerve! Long story short I end up not even receiving the bonus, and kept the account for over a year. During this time period, this Individual (the same person who opened my account) calls me about every 3 months, first time he called me asking for my driver license information, this is information they have already been provided with and my driver license does not expire for a couple more years, so unless they lost it I'm not sure what is the reason behind asking me for this personally over the phone, I tried to authenticate that was an an actual rep and not a fishing scam and decided to take the risk out of courtesy and provide him with the requested information. About 3 months after he again contacts me asking for similar information I cannot exactly recall, when I sensed it was somewhat unusual, he attempted to rephrase his request and finally told me that I didn't have to provide it if I didn't want to, at which point I responded "then I would prefer to avoid disclosing information on the phone". Few days ago I again receive a call from this person asking if I still worked at so and so..., when I told him I did not worked there any longer he asked where I currently work, I explained this seemed extremely unusual and unprofessional that I have to disclose such information to my bank on demand and that I had never experienced a bank calling me to find out where I worked specially since any bank would automatically have this information through direct deposit information, he told me he would cancel my account if I didn't give him the information and I hung up the phone. These guys are crooks or at the very least unprofessional, I suspect something out of ordinary with this location or bank of the west in general, it is possible they sell this information for profit or attempt to manipulate their customers into releasing personal information for other unethical gains their so unwilling to disclose, anyways, since I was no longer even in the area and they do not have locations in my area I told him I would close my account as soon as I initiate a new account and did exactly that and transferred all my funds out of this corrupt money hungry bank, few days later I get this letter in the mail explaining they are closing my account, what a relief. This was not a big hurdle for me, however this type of business practices could have detrimental effects to others who may not be able to initiate another account immediately due to work schedule or other reasons, and may perhaps not have another bank account in time to transfer their funds to before this corrupt bank displaces their funds until whatever time period late they deem appropriate to perhaps send you a paper check at a designated mailing address that may not always be convenient for you to access immediately. Save yourself the headache and open your account with a reputable bank without the unusual demands and unexpected repercussions you may experience here.

They would not honor one of their own checks because the signature looked "different". I would be horrified if i payed someone for a service by check and then my bank would not honor it because my signature "looked different" that day. If they think the check was stolen or involved in some sort of illegal fashion (like they implied) shouldn't they NOTIFY THEIR client...or maybe the police? I guess they are just going to let me notify their client with the bad news that their bank would not honor their check (even though there were adequate funds) and let us fight it out. Aren't they lovely. I had a bunch of bonds called recently and was going to be bringing over some $$ for a CD at this branch, but I won't be doing that now. Lots of fish in the sea...
