Went here recently and had to deal with an uneducated grocery store so-called-manager. I have worked in different parts of the grocery industry for years and it is commonly known that if a food item is going to expire/sell by that same day of purchase then there is usually some type of discount on that item, usually it's 50% off. I stopped by here after 7pm I believe and there were 6 or so left of this one particular "cold food" item. All of them were going to expire over a week besides one that says "sell by" that day. It was a $10.50 item. I brought it up to the self checkout with and another item I was going to buy as well and scanned it and called for assistance. The worker came up to me and I said that this item says to sell by today showing him the "sell by date" on the side the container, and said after that usually there would be a discount? Then the awkward debate began with him saying, "who said there is discount? I never heard of that before? There would be a discount sticker (like safe way has the time to check "every single items" expiration/sell by and put a discount sticker on it lol) I said I have received discounts before on items that need to sell that day, and he said by who? I said um,,, by every worker in this store. I then just asked can I talk to a manager, which he said I manager (obviously a new one). At this time I knew either he wasn't trained properly in his position or that he simply was not paying attention during training so talking more is a waste of my time, energy and breath. I just said it's okay, you can just put this back and in the next few hours you will have to throw it away and lose out on the money for it. He just responded that's fine (really? Losing money is fine?) and I just walked away and said I don't want to buy my other item either and left the store. I saw his name but I don't think it is right to post someone name of describe them in a negative review. Honestly, In regards to items about to expire or sell by that date, usually you don't find the items, so it is commonly known for grocery stores to look these situation, and think either to sell the item for less than $10.50 or lose the entire $10.50 all together, because who will buy an item for full price when it going to expire/sell by that day when there are others that are going to expire/sell by for more than a week? I can realistically say nobody. I'm guessing this young grocery store so-called-manager is costing Safeway a lot of money each month because situations like this where they could have made some money but instead have to throw away food items and lose out on a sale. Safeways needs to make sure there new managers, are trained better or test them to make sure they were paying attention because I believe he wasn't paying attention during training. Been shopping for years at safeway and other grocery stores and never dealt with someone like this before in my life over items going to expire or sell by that day smh.

Had an amazing experience with a meat department worker Moses Sanchez. He was so kind to me and patient and helped me look for exactly what I needed. Quite handsome as well. Thank you to him!

Just went there at 5:15am. All aisles were blocked with cardboard boxes as shelves were being stocked. Had to park the cart and attempt to navigate around the boxes. The deli counter was not even open. They said they would be ready in an hour! Very frustrating and last trip to this place. Nob Hill is so much better organized.

This Safeway has staff that are very unprofessional and profile their customers. I was followed around the store by security as I was grocery shopping and then overheard the night shift manager say "I wanted to get her". Not to mention I spent over $500 in groceries. Do better Hollister. Stop profiling customers of color!

This store is a solid three. This Safeway met expectations. Seems very clean. Employees did not offend although they weren't especially friendly. Plenty of parking. They had what I wanted. I was in and out in about 10 minutes.

Did a large order for deli tray catering. We were in town hosting a wedding and needed food for the bridesmaids while getting ready. Excellent job on the 5 trays we ordered. Presentation and quantity and quality were great.

This is for the deliWent in to get some salad from the deli and there was a line of people in front and behind me. With only 2 people and a line 4-5 deep, the punk behind the counter gives me a rude look and walks off leaving only 1 and goes over to the Starbuck kiosk. Great customer service! I will be going to Lucky and Nob Hill for my deli needs moving forward.

Franz in the deli department was amazing. He went above and beyond and even sold me more items than I needed.

Grocery pick up was terrible. I injured my knee and couldn't walk so I thought I would utilize the curbside grocery service instead of driving the mobile cart around. My order was supposed to be done by 1PM but I had to call and ask why it was 3PM and I still hadn't gotten notified that it was complete. The man told me it was ready but they just didn't mark it so I wasn't notified. Substitutions were far from comparable. I ordered a 12pack of 12oz cans but got a 6 pack of 7.5oz cans (but I was still charged for the 12pack)I ordered 36 string cheese sticks and was given a 12 pack of cheese slices? Still charged for the original item. The shoppers need to be trained better. I am very disappointed.

They're drive up is such trash it's always a terrible experience ranging from missing items to meat packages leaking all over fresh food to them saying items are out of stock and I go in just to find a plethora of the item. Just go in save yourself the trouble! Their drive up is a joke

I have ordered curbside through this Safeway location multiple times. Today I was charged for an item I did not receive. In the past I have gotten bad produce. The time it takes the staff members to bring groceries to the car is unreasonably long. I prefer to pick up groceries instead of shop inside, but Safeway's curbside services needs some work.

This location bakes a mean jalapeno cheese focaccia (in fresh bagels section). Better than other Safeways. I was addicted for awhile -- it's heaven when it comes out of the oven at 6ish am. Warm, comforting breakfast. The time isn't always consistent. This location also has dry wings at the hot food counter sometimes, and the 50% off old deli food is occasionally food gone bad. I've learned to stay away from the 4-squares, the ones that are 3 cold salads (potato, macaroni, kale, etc) and a roll. Bathroom is generally clean, tho both toilet seats in the womens have broken hinges -- seat will unexpectedly shift under you sometimes. Store's always neat, clean, and organized, so kudos to management.
