THIS PLACE..I've waited a month or so to write this review, thinking I was over reacting or missing something but I'm still really annoyed with this place so here it goes. Initial zoom meeting went great although a little weird that they don't provide pricing up front but fine, whatever. Drove to The Puppy Academy for my 6 month old golden retriever's "evaluation". The front entrance is blacked out and they don't allow you to come inside which I thought was a little weird. I waited in my car until the trainer came out and took my puppy inside. I waited in my car for about 10-15 minutes and the trainer came back out and said that my puppy has too much anxiety and fear and that he could've come back out in 2 minutes time but he decided to wait (WTF?) and informed me that my golden retriever puppy was not a good candidate for The Puppy Academy but then proceeded to slip me his card for his own private training side buiz (WTF?). For the 2% of the population that are not familiar with golden retrievers, they are the sweetest, goofiest & most loving dogs. Yes, my puppy was fearful and had some anxiety, that is the whole point of training him, it's called exposure! He is experience everything for the first time so of course he is going to be scared of loud noises, etc. This place also uses plastic prong collars and e-collars but they do not tell you that until you've signed the contract which I found out from another client who had a bad experience. My puppies failed evaluation ended up being a blessing in disguise. I found the best place where he was welcomed without hesitation and his "anxiety and fear" which lasted all of 15 minutes has been replaced with confidence, good manners and socialization skills that have set him up to be an amazing dog! I'm at a total loss for all of the 5 star reviews here but to each his own...

Worth every Penny! We were in over our heads with our 1st puppy (Frankie, a Whippet). Taking her to The Puppy Academy was the best decision for us! Not only did I know she would be closely watched and cared for the entire day, I could see the results in her behavior at home within a couple weeks. It's a commitment. If you put in the work outside of class and commit to their practices your pup will transform before your eyes. We were extra thankful for their owner sessions within the program, which help you become more confident in your at-home training & reinforce the work they do. When her 1st 36-ish sessions were coming to an end we asked about additional classes and to our delight they accepted her for 24 more sessions of which she (we) really benefitted. I only wish we enrolled her sooner!

Wonderful spot to set your puppy up for a solid training foundation. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable and they clearly communicate the progression of your puppy. They also provide a ton of instructional videos if you wish to do some independent studying, which I highly recommend. My puppy comes home very tired from a day at school!

This place is awesome! If you have a new puppy in the house and you don't know how to train him/her, The Puppy Academy is the perfect spot. Even if you've had plenty of experience, Puppy Academy can help you out. Their 12 week program teaches your puppy 10+ basic commands, and it includes five 1on1 owner/trainer lessons to teach you some of the basic principles. Pick 3 days of the week for school, and drop your puppy off between 7am-10am and pickup between 5-7pm. It's like doggy daycare but way way better. They'll learn basic hand signals so anybody can communicate with your puppy. They also work on getting comfortable with walking, grooming, tooth brushing, and nail cutting. The program includes free online classes and a weekly Q & A sessions for more support. Worth the money and invaluable to instill basic principles in your puppy and gives you direction on how to work your puppy "the right way". You won't regret it!

Puppy training in Hermosa Beach has blessed families and pets with education. This most essential time to go beyond the adorable puppy moments for completing a happy, safe and memorable future. I met a graduate dog and was so impressed watching his work with his owner that I had to share this local news.

Was looking forward to bringing my 8 month old pup here. One of my friends suggested for me to check this place out. It was a great experience for my friend so I thought I would give it a shot. I thought it’d be a perfect fit for my pup since he is super friendly and loves meeting new people and pets. And when I say pets, he loves rabbits, cats, and dogs. My pup has had many interactions with many animals. However, after my pups evaluation my pup was rejected. They said that they couldn’t take him in because he had signs of territorial/aggression in the crate. I have never had nor seen this happen so I find it kind of ridiculous that they’re assuming this, just because he lunged in the crate. I feel like the evaluation was not fair and not thorough enough. The trainer had the audacity, to give me his card for private lessons. He suggested that my pup would do better in private. Like it’s sad like you’re supposed to be a training service and help young pups out.But you obviously just didn’t give my pet a chance especially, since he’s in a new environment. Also, please note that the puppy Academy, doesn’t ask for rabies when you first bring ur pup in for the evaluation. So that was a big red flag for coming in for an evaluation. Def not worth 5K bringing your pet here.

I WHOLE-HEARTEDLY RECOMMEND THE PUPPY ACADEMY to EVERY HUMAN who has a PUPPY!!!!Three months ago I came home with two 7-week-old lab siblings and felt completely exhausted, defeated and overwhelmed by puppies and had no idea where to start. We quickly realized we needed guidance, support and relief. That's when I reached out to The Puppy Academy and after speaking with Sparky, meeting with one of the fabulous trainer's for a tour and chatting with Kimberly I just knew this place was special and got on the waiting list right away!!!The all encompassing program is so well thought out and customizable to your needs. The team/ staff have truly poured their love and energy into our puppies, held our hands every step of the way, problem solved our endless questions, gave us our life back and gave us such a great schedule for both my human family and our puppies to be set up for success. They instilled such a strong foundation, with everything from potty training, crate training, manners, obedience and combatting littermate syndrome (if you're not familiar look it up - I promise you it’s a real thing - and if you’re thinking of getting two at once - I highly recommend you don’t) aka surviving two puppies. The dedication, thoughtfulness and care each team member has shown our family will forever have a special place in my heart. THANK YOU PUPPY ACADEMY from the bottom of my heart!!!! Moose and Lily thank you tooooo!!!!P.S. The only word of warning I'll give, is you'll get out of it what YOU put into it (like anything in life)! But, if you trust the process, remain open minded, ask all the questions, try your best to follow their expertise and most importantly be patient with yourself and your puppy... you will have truly a super star puppy!!! I can proudly say I have 2 SUPERSTAR PUPPIES because of The Puppy Academy!!! Stay positive and do your homework... trust me it's worth every bit of your energy and every penny. And tell your friends!!

The Puppy Academy is the best dog training program! We sent our sweet Lucie to Puppy academy for her degree and her master's degree. You will receive a daily report card! Sparky and his team are amazing and Lucie our pup is so well trained. The place is very organized and clean. All the trainers and assistants are just so kind and I never worried once when I dropped off our puppy. It is an extremely professional training program, and you will not be disappointed. They answer all questions and really do care about the puppies. The high-quality shows and if I ever got another puppy I would go back. I would give them a 10. Lucie learned so much and the customer service and interaction is exceptional. Thank you to all of you especially to Kimberly and Sparky!

Our puppy Petunia just graduated from the academy yesterday and we couldn't be happier with the results. This VERY energetic dog has learned to sit, stay and walk with much more self-control. The staff is kind and patient. I would recommend paying VERY close attention to the individual owner training to maximize your results. We have been sloppy about that - but that's on us, not the trainers.

It has been awhile since our puppy Ollie graduated but had to take the time to write something about Josh. HE WAS FANTASTIC AND PATIENT not only with our puppy but with my husband and I. Oh boy we needed his patience lol. He was hands on and really helped us on our new puppy journey. PLEASE MAKE AN ADULT ACADEMY our other Dog Lola is 3 and would really benefit from it. I would also send Ollie back once a week if there was an adult academy because he really benefited from being around other dogs and trainers.Thank you so much we can really see a difference in our dog. Our friends have his brother who got zero training and the difference is night and day. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money and send your puppy here.....you wont regret it.

I can't say enough about the Puppy Academy. We have a super high-energy puppy and were not prepared at all for the challenges she presented us with. The Academy has been fantastic in helping us train and socialize our little demon. All of the staff are great to work with. We are even considering sending Billie to the graduate program!

I cannot say how amazing the Puppy Academy is enough!! I am a new puppy mom, with my first puppy ever and enrolled him at the Puppy Academy as soon as he was eligible. I wanted a place that could have him on the days that I worked but would teach him. And it was important to me that I had the opportunity to learn too since this was my first puppy experience. TPA was the answer! They have made puppyhood so enjoyable! And the best part was that my little guy absolutely loved going to school every time. They were very flexible with the scheduling and it was such a weight off my shoulders with my off work schedule and with it being just me. Not only did they teach my pup, but they also taught me how to be a pup mom and I am forever grateful. Special shout out to Josh and Rebecca for being amazing teachers to Luda and mentors for me!You will not regret choosing to enroll with TPA. They are the best!!

Cannot say enough great things about the Puppy Academy! The trainers and staff are all excellent - so knowledgeable, patient, professional and supportive. Our puppy just finished their 12 week program and he is well on his way to being a wonderful family dog, calm and obedient. Their program is very organized and easy to follow, they have tips and tricks for any issues and questions. I highly recommend the Puppy Academy, and I will never raise another puppy without them!
