The guy's name who diagnosed my car was Pete. He asked for $1600 to change the water pump. However, after having it diagnosed by 2 other shops, they sincerely informed me that this was a fabrication issue from VW, so they do change it for free.
They also told me that all the shops are aware of this VW policy, so he should have told you!
I didn't appreciate his dishonest commercial gesture, I felt that he tried to scam us.
Not trustworthy!

this guy gives auto mechanics a bad name. Complete scam artist that preys on people with no mechanical knowledge. a "youtube mechanic" at best. Wanted me to pay $150 up front just to trouble shoot a minor problem, because of his obvious incompetence in the most basic fundamentals of automotive diagnostics.

I highly recommend Hermosa Automotive for the best prices, guaranteed work, and CARE. That's an usual commodity (CARE) these days, but Robert provides DEPENDABLE and TRUSTWORTHY SERVICE and promptly attends your needs. My second time to Hermosa Automotive, definitely recommend them. When I called in advance, they told me they were too busy on that day, but drop it off in a couple of days. I had no problem with that, they checked me in quickly when I dropped the car off. A few days later (after the rains) they called me and said everything was done. Cheaper than I was expecting, they are very honest and do only what needs to be done. They will be my spot to take my older model car.
