I never in my life thought I would write a review on any police department. unless it was a positive one.but enough is enough. All of my family has been in law-enforcement of one sort or another. I know the stress, and how busy almost all departments get. with that said, my complaint is how they treat regular citizens here in Hemet. We are often treated like we are completely worthless. I said hello to three officers standing inside of Walmart last week. It was early morning, and as I walked by, I said good morning, one officer nodded his head as acknowledgment, the other two stared at me like I'm a suspect, and had no other response at all other than the stare. Two years ago. My wife's car was broken into in a retail parking lot, lost her phone purse,IDs, hundreds of dollars, Coach purse, iPhone and credit cards .the police showed up to take the report OK . But a few days later, I found out where her credit card was used, at a gas station on Florida. I spoke with the owner of the station who said they still have the video tape for that day. It should show clearly the use of the card.I went to the police department to advise them of this new evidence, and was told to write it down. It will be given to the proper officer. There was never a response back to me, but I kept in touch with the gas station, who told me the police had never come to the gas station to request the video, this could have been a simple felony bust with this new evidence, if they had just followed through with this lead.over the years, I have called at least four times on loud parties with live bands. one time an officer showed up and asked him to turn it down. Officer called me on the phone. My question was why not off. It's 2 AMThe other three times. No response was ever made to these complaints. I watched for the PD and the music never went down. This continues until well after 2 AM, I called not too long ago on a suspicious person with one large duffel bag and a backpack walking up the street and into peoples driveways looking into SUVs and trucks including mine. I do have and saved the video. I called the PD but no response from any officer ever showed up (at least not when I was there waiting for them)I found the suspect on the next street underneath an older jeep. I assume he is cutting out the catalytic converter. A picture of this person is listed below. Once again, I walked over this time with another resident who also saw him.As no officer showed up, we both started to approach the suspect. he picked up the bags and left walking down the street. A few days later I tried to talk with an officer to ask if any cars or catalytic converter's have been stolen ? (So I can offer my video of the suspect)He just yelled at me I'm going on a call, shuts his window in anger and left. Maybe he was justified ? But made me feel like I was a burden and worthless.I understand why people take the law in to their own hands, road rage is similar to this. No one is cited for tailgating or cutting people off and such. This in turn becomes road rage as we have to handle this ourselves.I have always told people to protect themselves in their homes, and not to expect any immediate help from the police as this takes time for them to respond and you may not have that time If an intruder is in your home .you must respond before he hurts you, you must rely on yourself to protect yourself. Seems like we have to stop these criminals ourselves sometimes.Possibly with no help. it's just too bad it has come to this. many cities are this way and some are not. But it's not just lack of response,It's also the way citizens are being treated.I apologize for the way I'm feeling I would never want to be in a city with no law enforcement, nor do I ever wish to defund the police department or any of that crap. That is just stupid. What we need is better training and more funds for better coverage, but I guess the bottom line is I would never disrespect a police officer. I just wish that they would show me a little bit of respect to.Below is

Honestly, it's hit or miss.I'm relatively new to hemet. Definitely never been a cop caller. But within the last year, have had to call many times. A shooting, a stabbing, fires, all types of crazy stuff.Sometimes the dispatch is super friendly and nice, and other times is the total opposite. There was someone lighting a huge fire in a parking lot with a pile of clothes and I called and the lady asked me my name and I told her I'd like to stay anonymous and I got hung up on. I've called for an abandoned vehicle in front of my house and the lady was rude. And other times, I've called for the same vehicle, for someone that was shot on my doorstep and the ladies were extremely polite, respectful and helpful. Some consistency would be nice though.

I hate to leave this review because I truly believe there are some amazing policemen. But the family advice they give is horrible I hope they take that same advice home and are OK with the things they tell other parents they should be OK with and use that advice with their own kids. God bless you all and stay safe.

Gave me a $600 ticket that put me in the streets. Hope it was worth it for that cop. Over a weeks worth of work for going 10 mile over while down hill. Funny how cops are supposed to help us when they’re the ones directly causing homelessness in a town without a shelter

Don't bother trying to email officers, or their supervisors. They do not respond. They also disregard vehicle code violations even if they have an effect on your case. The ladies at the lobby windows were awesome. The two stars are for them.

Worst place to call if you need assistance and Matthew Gomez subordinates are disgraceful to this country . The 911 operators will hang up on you.

I would heavily, emasively suggest the police force to have a longer time in training/Camp rather than fourteen weeks. That is a simple brush off your shoulder. I want to suggest long years of training that officer holding George by the neck didn't have the adaptation that he was in moments away from killing that man. Those officers at the scene are just as guilty. They are all defined as thugs, enough said.

Hemet police dept have some really bad cops you call for assistance and they act smart and act like your bothering them and keeping them from donuts and coffee but yet have plenty of time to harass people who aren’t doing anything the same with the 911operators I think I’ve only met 2cops who were actually good cops that’s pretty bad these cops out here act more like a gang then officers of the law worst police dept in riverside county for sure somebody should investigate them and they will lie to try to get you to admit to somthing you didn’t do

I mean they have 2.8 stars are cops. There isn’t much more to say than that. A police department that can’t even get 3/5 gold stars should be shut down. A police department that doesn’t do anything about illegally parked cars that have tickets on it on Johnston and state aren't the type you want to call in case of emergency. I’ve called them went they were a 10 minute walk away and it took them 4xs that amount of time to show up two of them in one car. Kinda just keeps like they’re too scared to show up in some areas, I would have had a lawsuit if I wanted to. I could have been killed in that over half hour

When you call for assistance and end up being threatened to leave or be arrested. Not allowing you to say you part. You feel discrimination and frustration. Handle things yourself. They already have your story made up for you. Pass

I was a blue line flag flying conservative thinking that the Hemet police were getting a bad wrap. Today I was attacked by a crazy road rage driver with a hammer in his hand. He ran me off of the road and pounded a hole I'm my new Jaguar aNd then pulled me out of the car and pulverized me with a large claw hammer. The arriving officer freaked out when he touched me and got blood on his hands. Dah? He threw me to the curb, refused to let me talk then said he going to arrest me and impound my car if I press charges against him or the man that beat me. I spent the day in the hospital getting CT scans, X-rays and dozens of tests. So much for trusting Hemet police

Called for officer assistance when informed my daughter's male friend had physically assaulted her and refused to leave her apartment. Since it would take me 22 mins to arrive from Temecula to Hemet the logical thing was to contact law enforcement enroute. The expectation was to ensure her safety! I arrive and the officer are nowhere to be seen. The young man has returned and was sitting outside her apartment door when I arrived. Her apartment looked like a tornado had passed through. When inquiring had the police been there, she replied yes! and they did not enter the apartment. One male officer was reported stating they could not remove him as he stated he resided at the location. That was a lie on the lease is daughter and Myself! Regardless, the male is still here refusing to leave. After asking question I learned the officer asked if he had any weapons to which he was untrue, and the officer accepted. Sadly, I located the loaded firearm inside the house under the mattress, which explains why the male refused to leave the premise. Looking at these issues including national concerns pertaining to intimate partner violence. Reasonably the police department which are trained and staff with professional to aid in this type of violent situation. They unfulfilled their duties, which opens the door for what was an unsafe environment for my daughter. If you are responding to call, what benefit does it serve to do nothing let along not ensure their own safety, I mean think of the bad possibilities in the entire scenario!
