May 13, 2023, I was part of a two person exhibition at Hammerfriar titled Embody: Connections to the Subconscious. Gallery owners, Charly and Glenn Ley went above and beyond in creating a reception for the public to experience not only the artwork but an environment which engaged all five senses. Yes they do framing too. But one is free to walk in just to see the art. It is a gallery that happens to frame art. Make it a destination!

I have had multiple pieces framed by Hammerfriar and I am so happy with the results. I really appreciate Charly and Glenn's professionalism and also their kind, friendly characters. Even though where I live in Berkeley there are lots of custom frame shops, I will continue to work with them.

Glen and Charly are the best in the business! They are friendly, down-to-earth, and know their stuff. The old reviews (~2015) were from when the gallery was under different ownership. The new owners have put together such a thoughtful space, with rotating art in their gallery, workshops, and a bustling framing workshop. I would encourage anyone wanting heirloom quality preservation to check out Hammerfriar. I have had two pieces framed there and I couldn't recommend them highly enough!

Well I've read some of the reviews and I don't know who Jill is, maybe she was the previous owner or manager, don't know, don't care. However I do know who Charly and Glenn are, and I couldn't be more happy with their work, or the ability they both have to match up the type of frame, the color of the frame to what I what I wanted framed. Not to mention dealing with both of them was a pleasure. I was referred to them by a store in the San Francisco and although it was a long drive, and mind you not cheap, BUT WELL WORTH IT....... I will definitely drive back up to Healdsburg to have more work done.When the work was done Charly even drove it down to the city and dropped it off for me.

We had a picture of our grandchild framed and they helped us create a very beautiful piece for our home. Amazing craftsmanship and very reasonably priced.

I've had many things framed by Hammerfriar over the past few years, and I honestly couldn't be more satisfied with the results. I recently brought in a pastel, that I inherited, to be re-framed by the owner Jill. Not only did she take the time to carefully assess the damage that was done to the work by a previous framer, but she also came up with a beautiful design that fit my budget. The piece is transformed and it has never been so beautiful. Also, the artwork in the gallery and atrium are worth the trip. I enjoy stopping in to see various unique pieces by local artists.

When someone tells you over and over and over again about how good they are and that they are the best , most of the time is not true. That was the case with my experience with the owner Jill. She is definitely not the best. I brought two pieces of art in the have the glass replaced along with the shadow boxing. After waiting two and a half weeks. I finally picked up the pieces to find that the work that had been done was awful. The work was so bad that I had to take them to another framer and have them reframed and have the shadow boxes redone as well. She claims that both were in their existing condition, which is not true. I can't believe the integrety of this women , she does not have any. Jill, you are not the best! CUSTOMERS BEWARE!

Jill, the owner, is one of the most fastidious and creative people I know. Being in the framing industry myself, Jill has not only been a mentor but a friend of mine. The care she takes with works of art AND the people who create them is something I look up to her for, pretty much every day.
