I remember Yukon Market from the early 80s as my go to for fresh cut meat . My wife and I loved the teriyaki steaks . We lived across the street from the market at the corner lot . They had all the food we needed . Great memories of Hawthorne California .

In the 1950s my siblings and I would walk to this store after school every day. Back then we called it Gertie's because that was the name of the woman behind the candy counter. She knew most of us by name. Sometimes my parents would send us to the store with a list and money and Gertie would fill it. We left Hawthorne in the 1960s. Now I see the name of the store is Yukon Market. To me it will always be Gertie's.
