10:30AM - 9:30PM
1419 5th St, Santa Monica“Bought some incense here some time back and using them every day! Store has quite a variety. Very large selection of crystals too and I'm planning to come back for these! Store has a great ambience! Worth a visit if you're in Santa Monica.”
“I've been here twice and I've walked out a few times with a bunch of figures. I wish I grabbed the Cell figure from there. Other than that, this place is really great and the employees have always been friendly. If you guys want figures for a reasonable and good price, I recommend going to this store.”
“This wonderful local shop has been my go-to shopping for special occasions and personal items for years. Artisanal, eco friendly, and ethically produced home goods, jewelry, kid’s gifts, and just all sorts of unique and high-quality, always affordable…goods!”
“I LOVE this place!! I've never been able to get any Arknights merch even at anime expo. So seeing it here was so awesome. A lot of genshin stuff too if you're into that. I'm an avid cat girl fan and a LOT of the stuff they have here are cat girls so this place was literally heaven.”
10AM - 6PM
340 1st St, Los Angeles“Must visit in Little Tokyo! Precious business continuing history while updating their contents to what’s relevant to today’s audiences. Don’t forget to check out the second floor for old music cassette collections, handmade candles, and imported artisan goods from Japan.”
“Jessica helped me over the phone in securing a last available pair of AKILA frames. Being here in CLT and F.D.G.S. in LA - I couldn't have asked for better customer service and she was so accommodating! If all small businesses were run like F.D.G.S. - we wouldn't have such a demand for the big box stores! A++”
10:30AM - 8PM
1207 Ocean Front Walk, Venice“I love this shop, so many beautiful and unique indigenous items. The person working there (4/10/23) was so kind. I would have bought more had my luggage had any space left. I will cherish my two rings and the shirt for years to come. I will definitely come back next time I'm in LA.”
“I went here to find a gift for a holiday gift exchange. My first visit I was thrilled to find a curated selection of products from books, to notecards, jewelry, candles, bath salts and lotions, to name just a few. The broad selection made it easy to find gifts, and the clerks were very helpful. You can get up to three gifts gift-wrapped for free, and she did an amazing job. Stronly recommend - this store is a gem!”
“This is the best shop in all of Little Tokyo. Super legit, non-touristy at all, and filled with really cool books, prints, antiques and sculptures. The owner is great to talk to and is really passionate about the community. I now have a ton of recommendations for art and cultural events in the neighborhood! The store is cash only, so make sure to come prepared.”
11AM - 4PM
414 E 2nd St, Los Angeles“For years this shop was originally on second street. It was fully supplied with items for the kitchen, dining, and other Japanese items. This shop is much smaller, no room to roam around like the other shop, where you could ogle and awe at wares. The owner of this shop is helpful. They have an adequate selection of ikebana vessels from Japan unlike anywhere else in LA. The prices are average considering import costs. Overall this shop is an important mainstay in the Japanese community.”
“Amazing selection of records and other ephemera. My boyfriend got really into Gundam recently and I was so happy to find a first pressing of an OST for the second film here. Legacy businesses like these are what makes Little Tokyo special.”
10AM - 7PM
111 Japanese Village Plaza Mall, Los Angeles“I was visiting the Japanese Village in LA when I stumbled upon a small Maneki Neko store. There was plently of items to choose from. I found a cute tea set I was looking for. Priced reasonably.”
“Cute little shop in the riviera that has a diverse selection of home goods! Great for last minute bday gifts or treating yourself. The owner is so sweet too and truly appreciative of everyone who stops by and supports her shop.”
11AM - 5PM
815a Manhattan Ave, Manhattan Beach“Love this boutique-! So many awesome designers and those special, one of a kind type pieces that are timeless & versatile. Kelly the owner is so sweet & the whole staff, Risë, Nina are all super helpful & great to shop & communicate with. Love being able to go into a small, high end boutique (even with a 1 year old & stroller! ), shop for sale finds & feel welcome by kind, honest ppl”
“This is a very fine , non-profit store. The staff is mostly volunteers and are extremely helpful. Most of the merchandise is hand-made...The vibe is very positive in this store. There is something for everyone...I bring friends here every chance I get. If you are in the Riveria Village, it's a must stop.”
10AM - 6PM
128 Pier Ave, Hermosa Beach“We love this local small business! The owners are kind, affirming, funny, and feel like friends. Their store is at the top of our recommendations list to any neighbors or those visiting the area as a must visit.”
“perfect for anyone who adores high-end but understated items from Japan. everything from perfectly balanced tableware to hinoki room spray to Comme des Garcons perfume to 14k gold jewelry to metal garden shears that look like museum pieces. it's the perfect escape from the corporate american aesthetic. the staff are lovely and unhurried. take your time to browse and admire the many treasures.”
“I LOVE this metaphysical gift store store, they are really hard to find these days. Everything from incense to candles to fun socks, jewelry, stones, you name it, they probably have it. The worker was very sweet too. I'll be back! ”
9:30AM - 4:30PM
431 S Los Angeles St, Los Angeles“If you're looking for Body Oils, Oil Burners, Soaps, Lotions, and Skin Butters all handmade, then this is the place. They have so many fragrances, even those you find in Department stores and Malls. Did I mention that they also sale Reading glasses? Your One Stop Shop. There is no parking so I suggest you park across the street in the parking garage.”
“Had an amazing experience shopping at the Cathedral Gift Shop. From the moment they answered the phone, they were very receptive in helping me pick out the best wreath for my apartment. Because I was not able to see the wreaths in person because of COVID restrictions, the lady I spoke with on the phone texted me options of different styles of wreaths with prices. They were all very pretty! I ended up choosing this gold one because it matched best with my furniture. When I told her that I lived on the same street of the Cathedral, the staff was very helpful in accommodating me for a speedy in-store pick-up. I absolutely love my wreath and it's surely putting me in the Advent spirit! God bless all!”
“I came here on a whim, and I saw they had the Mean Girls bag clips where it’s a surprise what character you’re going to get. I really wanted Regina George, but most of all, I wanted Damien saying, “She doesn’t even go here!” Claudia, who is a Mean Girls fan and works here, went out of her way to help me pick my characters. I did not get Damien which I really wanted, so Claudia bought a couple of Mean Girls clips for herself, got Damien, and was willing to trade!!! I’ve never had such amazing customer service like this in a very long time! Claudia, you are amazing!!!”
“The storefront appears closed, but the sign says they're open. You will be greeted by two tiny dogs at the door and the kind shopkeeper comes to grant you entry. At first, it looks like a bunch of knickknacks and novelties. Then you'll see Coach, Kate Spade, LeSportSac, Kipling, jewelry, Japanese cosmetics, and other more luxurious items further inside. The shopkeeper is very friendly and seemed ecstatic to have a customer she could talk to in Japanese and broken English. (Because of the pandemic, I figured times are hard for the elderly...and so why not support a small business?) I bought lemon manuka honey drops, "magical lips" lipstick/lipstain, almond brittle popcorn, and some neat coffee sticks that Whoopi Goldberg raved about back in the day. Everything is dangerously delicious! This Magical Lips stuff is life-changing! It lasts nearly all day and doesn't rub off from wearing a mask just like the shopkeeper said! I had to return and buy more to give to friends! I want to try the other things she has for sale since I'm already having a good experience with her products. Unfortunately, the two adorable little pups at the door are not for sale.”
“This store has so many great items to choose from. I dropped by last week to find a gift to bring for our hosts for Thanksgiving dinner. The sweetest friendliest service and they gift wrap!”
10AM - 9PM
131 Broadway, Santa Monica“Came by Sand n Surf because we booked a reservation on Bounce to leave our luggage behind for the day as we explored Santa Monica. The staff were very friendly and helpful in checking us in and storing our luggage. We even bought some souvenirs after because we enjoyed the service a lot. They have a lot of different souvenirs to choose from. Highly recommend!”
“Not sure if she was the owner, but the lady at the counter was incredibly kind! There were so many cute options to choose from- stationary, plushies, and so much more! It was a great experience and a huge recommend from me!”
“A little disappointing. Some unique and interesting things for sale (ie local artists) that you wouldn't see anywhere else. But I feel like for the space they had they did not have that big of a selection. If you are in the area this shop is worth a visit.”
“Coming here felt like I was walking into the past in the best possible way. It feels like how shops used to be 20 years ago, with tropical vibes. I fell in love and will be bringing all my friends here”
11AM - 6PM
1316 Abbot Kinney Blvd, Venice“I have lived in Venice over 30 years and think this is the NICEST store on Abbott Kinney, with unique gifts, clothing, toys, home decor and of course candy and chocolates imported from Scandinavia. It is a delightful space, with friendly service. Everyone there is always smiling and their happy vibe is contagious. Awesome!”
“I love this Smoke Shop it's the best I ever been to and I been to a lot of them. It's going about 6 almost when I moved into the neighborhood and it was the first smoke shop I could find and it's been my only smoke shop since. Great service and selection always. Plus I get treated like a king ?. The best place for in and service and always great prices.”
