Huge variety of plants from the common (pansies, lobelia, crocus, etc) to unusual (papyrus, which I've never seen elsewhere). Helpful staff and customers: it's a friendly place for plant lovers.

Every time I come to HMB Nursery I feel super contented. The ambiance is a wonderful balance of being peaceful and exciting at the same time. I have purchased many types of plants from decorative to edible ones here and each one thrived well at home. The staff here is super helpful especially when I want to try and grow something new and I am not familiar with the process.

Amazing place. Just look at the pics, only issue. The highway traffic is ugly. Be careful on pulling in/out.

This nursery is worthy of 5 stars based solely on variety and care for their products. It is by far my favorite nursery in the Bay Area. I travel 45 mins out of my way to specifically shop here. So why the 1 star? The customer service is the worse. The last two times I have came, I have never felt more unwelcome or that my presence was an absolute annoyance to the employees. God forbid you ask a question or need any assistance. The first time this happened in April I brushed it off as maybe they were having a bad day. Unfortunately, after my experience yesterday, I think this is just the vibe of all the employees. I prefer to patronize queer or queer friendly establishments but I think I'd rather try my luck at online ordering or a closer nursery from now on. Their selection isn't worth the drive if I have to tolerate the attitude.

This nursery is located in such an idyllic setting with perfect weather, cool sea breeze and mountain backdrop. I loved browsing this nursery so much and can't wait to visit again next year. Had so much fun looking at their gorgeous selection of plants, flowers and trees. Brought home the biggest blooming hydrangeas, pink apricot Begonia, 2 heirloom tomatoes plants and 1 really unique orchid. So pretty! Spent an hour here but easily could gaze at all the different flowers for another hour! If you love begonias and hydrangeas, be sure to come here and choose from many different colors and varieties.

They have a ginormous selection, beautiful variety. I always find special gems when I visit this nursery. The plants are well taken care of.

I love this place. I don't know if it's the experience of going through all the rooms to see all the plants, or if it's their seemingly random selection that somehow always hits, but I always leave there with a plant! Prices here are super reasonable. I will say that their planters always look beat up, but I have a different place I go to for planters anyway, so that doesn't really matter to me.

This is the place to go for plant lovers. They have lots of varieties of plants in a range of price points. There's something for everyone here. The nursery is off of hwy 92 and it's a pretty sharp turn into the parking lot so pay attention as you get closer to the area. I would suggest coming early because the parking lot is on the smaller side. I recently came on a weekend an hour after opening. By the time I left, I could see the traffic of cars coming up hwy 92. It can be overwhelming coming here because there are just so many different varieties of plants... trees, flowers, vegetables, citrus trees, bonsai, succulents, cactus, etc.In addition to plants, they have everything else you might need to keep your plants alive... pots, tools, plant food, books, etc. When checking out, our kids each received a few pumpkin plant. Wish us luck. Maybe we won't need to buy pumpkins come October. P.s. Be sure to wear old shoes because some paths are dusty/muddy.

For day to day garden plants I usually go to Cupertino Summer winds or Yamagami. They're both very nice nurseries. But sometimes I want something out of the ordinary and Half Moon Bay Nursery fits the bill. They offer varieties not typically available. For instance today they had pansies golden in color with dark stripes which are very striking in appearance. I enjoy walking around and exploring the plants every time I go there.

Pretty good selection of indoor and outdoor plants. I came here to get plants for my workspace and got some really nice indoor low-maintenance options.

NOTE: As of 1/14/2023 - I was able to get here from the Half Moon Bay side of the highwayReally great selection, most prices are reasonable. I enjoy walking around on the weekends and seeing all the flowers, houseplants, etc. Has a really calm vibe like the one I frequented in the midwest

This is the best nursery in San Mateo County and beyond! How do I know? I started as a regular customer and I worked there, as well. Owner, Ron Mickelsen is a wonderful person and I’d love to work there again in the Spring!
