I took my car in for a knock engine check engine light code and when I took it in I requested they drive the car up 92 because the car is only able to top 30 miles an hour going up the hill. I paid over $700 and the check engine light was turned off and I was told they tested it and it drives fine and to call them if any issues come up. Well, an issue came up as soon as I took my car onto 92. unable to top 30 mph my check engine light immediately came back on and I was frankly scared and afraid I wouldn't be able to make it up the hill. fortunately I did and I took it back in and they kindly for free ran tests on my car. however, they tell me it's a check engine code that says my fuel is too rich and my catalytic converter is completely clogged and I would need to replace the Catalytic converter, which I replaced two years ago. Being a $1900 expense I couldn't afford the service so I took my car back. I go in my car, and I regret not getting out and asking about my battery light being on and why the car was soundOmg even worse and now i am finding out I may have a failing alternator because when I jumpstart my car it dies in a few minutes. This is disgraceful service to not only ignore my request entirely but give my car in an even worse condition then when I first brought it to the shop. I paid $200 for a check engine diagonsitics and they didn't find any of these problems beforehan? It's shameful and this community deserves to know my experience to avoid the possibility of being scammed like I was. My car is now completely dead!! I would highly recommend not going to this auto service shop if possible.

I brought my Honda Civic to Davey's shop with some serious suspension problems. I was very pleased with the way Davey managed the complicated repair. Replacement parts were ordered overnight, and the assembly done the next morning. I appreciated Davey's combination of technical knowledge and the ability to make a clear plan of action.

After paying over $3500, I will not be using this auto shop or recommending it. The owner doesn't have the experience to be in business. He puts his lack of expertise on the customer. He argues with his wife on the phone and avoids talking to the customer and avoids explaining why the shop failed at their services. The shop tech is lazy and doesn't clean up. Left oil stains on seat, door panel. Also said he installed both spacers and had to remove them because they were the wrong part. So why is there only markings on one part? Seems like I was overcharged. Bad business if the owner is relying on scamming locals and ruining his reputation. Davey is dishonest and lacks experience. Do not go to this business. Lost my business at the smog shop too.

My car received the best repair from the mechanic/s at HMB Auto Repair that I could hope for. The car was towed into the shop and the work began immediately. It's a Ford Focus and the water pump was a beast to fix, but with the keen work by the awesome mechanic, it was fixed. They kept the price to the original estimate, regardless of the time spent fixing the problem and while finding other broken things that cropped up during the repair time. Thank you for doing such an awesome job!

Sometimes you need to go to a dealership or body shop for factory or auto body… for everything else, these guys are the best. Super friendly, and competitive pricing. Big shout out to Cody for taking such good care of my mustang. I have all of my regular maintenance done here for all of my cars, and they’ve even done some light performance part installs for me. 10/10 and definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good shop on the coast. For additional reference, one of my cars required a factory reprogramming of the ECU which HMB diagnosed for me. When my car (with 120k+ miles, mind you) went to the dealer, they sent it home with an otherwise immaculate bill of health thanks to HMB auto repair. Keep up the great work! You’ve got a lifetime customer in me.

Inconsiderate Customer Service. I made an appointment on a Friday afternoon for the following Wednesday to drop-off. Mind you this auto shop is an hour from my house. Dropped off the car when requested early on Wednesday, arranged a ride from my wife to pick me up after. (2 hour time commitment)Wednesday evening, no call, update on repairs. Thursday evening, I called front desk, they said they would call me back. No response. Friday morning receive a call and they said they won't do the work I requested and refused to work on my car. Couldn't arrange a pickup Friday, so went to get the car on Saturday, they aren't open on the weekends, so was planning to use a spare key from home. Drove down Saturday one hour to pickup my car, again pre-arranging my wife to drop me off. When I went to unlock the car, they didn't even lock the car. Mind you there is thousands of dollars of custom equipment inside. (2 hour time commitment)They have changed management, and I have had nothing but underwhelming customer service experiences from the prior management and the new one. I worked at the Ritz Carlton, objectively one of the best customer service operations in history, so I know good service. I won't even get into the details of the poor work done on my car in the past. There are plenty of great mechanics over the hill, or in Pacifica/El Granada, I do not recommend this place at all.They wasted 4 hours of my wife and myself's valuable time, and left my car unlocked in there parking lot.

Car broke down 10 minutes away, one call later they immediately took me in and helped me out! Amazing, fast, reliable, kind, and thorough! I'm not from this area but honestly I might make the drive to come back for any changes!

Somehow one of the leaf springs broke on our 5th wheel in our travels. We noticed it while staying at the state campground at Francis Beach in Half Moon Bay. We went to their shop and Jessica ordered the part we needed. They installed the new leaf spring first thing this morning so we could head home. They were awesome! I would highly recommend them. Thank you Davey, Jessica and Wayne!!!

I have a 2016 Ram Cummins Diesel. It kept throwing CELs related to the DEF system. Davey diagnosed the problem and tried ordering a new DEF pump, They were back ordered 90 days! I found an OEM part on EBay and despite the fact that it did not come from one of HMB Auto's suppliers Davey put it in for me. Truck has run well ever since. Having a competent diesel mechanic on the coast is huge as most independent shops will not do complex diesel repairs.

Traveling back home to Reno after spending a week in Santa Cruz, and decided to first check out Mavericks in Half Moon Bay. Unfortunately ran over a deck screw during the drive, and my tire went instantly flat. With only a donut spare, there was no way the wife and I were making the 200+ mile drive back home without a tire repair. Quick google search first led us to Phil’s Tire Pro’s, who quickly turned us away, saying they were too busy to help. Same thing happened at Paulo’s Auto Care. Luckily, Half Moon Bay Auto Repair was right around the corner from Paulo’s, and without hesitation (despite an extremely packed schedule), quickly helped us out of our jam. They had our tire repaired, and us back on the road, in about 20 minutes. Everyone at the shop we spoke with was extremely friendly, understanding and accommodating.Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy day to help out a couple of stranded travelers. You could’ve easily turned your back on us like the other two shops, but you didn’t and that was so AWESOME!
