Surf Market is a well-stocked, compact grocery store serving the Mendocino and Sonoma Coast since 1956. It is an independently owned, full-service supermarket specializing in local and organic foods, with a slightly upscale and gourmet selection. The market has everything one would essentially need, offering a wide selection of gourmet cheeses, locally produced wines, a full-service deli, and a meat and seafood department. There is a counter for custom-made sandwiches, soup, and other items, with friendly and super nice staff. On some days, a holiday open pit BBQ in the parking lot offers succulent, tender, and delicious ribs, roast chicken, and other items. While it can be a little pricey, it is well worth it for the quality, with reasonable prices and lots to choose from, including unique gifts and a Peet's coffee bar.
