2 1/2 years ago I weighed 250 lbs. and was not in very good shape. I had moved out of NYC to Northern California, and suffered a stroke 2 months after arriving. It was a wake up call for me. I started exercising and made changes to my diet and cooking methods. The biggest difference though has been attending yoga classes at Wild Mtn. Yoga.I visited the studio and spoke with Amanda letting her know my issues and history.I had played catcher until my knees politely asked me to stop at age 37. As I aged (I’m 68 now) my body was breaking down as I had abused it so when I was young and immortal.I couldn’t lift my right arm as high as my shoulder, let alone over my head. I was unable to play my guitar for 10 years because I couldn’t lift my arm high enough to get it over the guitar and play without pain. So I didn’t play. I had multiple injuries and issues I was dealing with.Amanda let me know that she was able to help me. And she has. She has helped me accomplish more, quicker than I thought possible.I now weigh 190 (haven’t been under 200 lbs since I went into the military at age 19 (187).I went skiing for the first time since the’80’s.I went on a 7 1/2 mile bicycle trail ride. And I’m playing my guitar again.Amanda teaches what I call foundational yoga. She makes sure you have the basics and she teaches techniques that proceed step by step to accomplish the more advanced forms of poses at each person’s pace.I can’t say enough great things about what joining the community at Wild Mtn. Yoga has meant for my physical and emotional well being.

Was happy to find this well-established yoga spot during a holiday visit to the area. They've been around for 20 years! All of the staff members were friendly, welcoming, and informative. I took my first hatha blend class here and was really interested to learn new things about poses and posture that I don't get in my normal flow classes. Amanda led my class and gave plenty of personal attention to each person while maintaining focus on the whole class. The studio was spotless, tea was provided, and the mats were clean. I'm a big fan!

I took two classes this week while visiting from out-of-town. Both classes (and teachers) were terrific. Nice studios, very friendly, very focused on providing quality yoga. Thank you, Wild Mountain.

Best yoga studio I have ever been to period. The instructors are both compassionate and intelligent, and offer specific alignment instruction throughout the classes. I highly recommend taking a Yogahour class if you've never been to the studio!

Now that I've experienced most of the instructors here, there is a clear continuity in teaching styles and abilities. Whereas with other studios, and this even goes for the corporate chains in the Bay Area, teachers within a single studio have a very wide variance. Not at Wild Mountain. Everyone teaching here is great in their own way and the class styles vary greatly. The similarity is in how clear their direction is. When I visit classes at another studio near my house in SF, I feel like the instructors are missing 75% of the directions on how to safely and accurately get into and out of a pose. Yoga class shouldn't be a teacher shouting "utthita hasta padangustasana" and expecting me to A: know what the heck it is, and B: not injuring myself. It's a good thing I can hear Amanda's voice in my head even when I'm not taking classes at Wild Mountain... I guess I can sum up this review by saying try this place out. now. the instructors will haunt you far after you leave. you know, in a good way.

Went to a great class with Seren while passing through Nevada City. The studio is lovely, with nice, thoughtful, warm details. Also, I left a special bracelet there and Seren mailed it back to me immediately! If I lived in Nevada City, I'd definitely come here on the regular.
