Please do not surrender your pet to this organization. They post untrue and hurtful portrayals about owners who have surrendered their pet when the owner cannot care for them. I am one that has suffered from their portrayals. So hurtful to me.

I saw Bella on Facebook, she had just been rescued by Scooter’s Pals in Sacramento, California. I had the feeling this was the dog for our family after reading the bio for her. I called Mrs Thomson(spelling?)to talk to her about Bella. She had Bella only a few days, (she got her on a Friday)but she knew Bella’s disposition to a T. It turns out that everything she said about Bella was so true. Bella is a senior dog probably 7 to 8 years old, but that didn’t matter to me. I asked Mrs Thompson when could we get Bella? We agreed on Monday because she wanted Bella to be groomed, she a Havanese with long matted hair.Mrs Thomson made sure that I had all the information she had on Bella plus she wanted me to take Bella to her Veterinarian for a checkup to make sure all was well. The support from Mrs Thompson & Scooter’s Pals was above and beyond what I ever expected. We have had Bella now for almost two weeks. She is a perfect match for us. Scooter’s Pals is the best & continues to be available if I ever need their help.

I found the perfect dog and family addition thanks to Scooter's Pals. They truly care about matching you with the right fit pup. Their foster team is very knowledgeable and they get to know their dogs to ensure a best match. I had many questions and all were patiently answered by the staff or a veterinarian. They went above and beyond for me and Honey. After surviving a mismatch rescue dog last year, Scooter's will not dump a dog on you just to place it because they care so much about their pups.

If you live in an appartment dont bother even looking, these people dont adopt to people do live in apartments. I was told by one of their "foster homes" that because i live where I lived I should never own a dog. I was told that I wasnt good enough. Then found out that even after I filled out the application and everything and paid the fee that the dogs were already adopted long before the meet with me was arranged. These people will scam you and lie to your face just to get the adoption fee out of you. If I could give negative stars i would. These people are unwilling to take into consideration individual situations, they automatically assume the absolute worst possible thing biut people, especially if you dont own a home. I will be filing a formal complaint with whoever I need to in order to make sure this doesnt happen to anyone else. They want money not whats best for the dogs.

Scooters pals is a wonderful place to adopt from. My little Teddy is fitting in with the family famously. We have had him for a little over a week and he is such a love bug. Scooter's was very helpful in helping me find the perfect addition for my family. His foster mom even dropped him off at my house after his neuter appointment. I adopted from the Sacramento location. I am a fan and I think they work hard to pull at risk animals and prepare them for their forever homes. If you are searching for a new pet, I highly recommend Scooter's Pals

I adopted my dog, Angus, from Scooter's Pals about 2 years ago. They give little descriptions of the dogs up for adoption on their website, and at least for Angus their description of his personality was spot on. Susan and their volunteers are good people who are very passionate about the animals in their care. They are maybe a little disorganized (didn't originally get the vet records, but that was cleared up in a few days/emails), but whenever a friend mentions they are thinking of getting a dog I always point them to Scooter's Pals.

Very disorganized. I think that Scooters could use an overhaul. When I ran into difficulties, it was hard tell who was in charge. I think that the founder is well meaning, but some of the volunteers could use some lessons in manners. I'm Saddened to say, I would not recommend, adopt or volunteer for Scooters Pals. Im sorry for having to post this. But things change overtime. Its unfortunate my experience turned negative. I could say more, but will not. Im praying for them that they can take an honest inventory of the rescue and once again, come together for the dogs.

They can be a little rude...what they are doing is WONDERFUL, but when I had a question about a certain dog on Pet Finder, the lady told me that I was wasting her time and that the dog was adopted months ago. Well, then why was it still on Pet Finder? I admire their work, but try to keep your website updated and be a little nicer to kind-hearted people who are interested in adopting your dogs!

Scooter's Pals is adopting out a 8 yr old Cavalier King Charles with a Heart Mur Mur and viciously attacked a puppy for a $200 fee. They know all the details of this dog and have not specified these issues. Very DECEPTIVE!!! FYI... Scooter's Pals representatives are the one placing reviews with high stars and making negative comments about those who are complaining. They do not know how to conduct themselves in a business manner and are horribly rude.

First let me say that this non-profit is run by a group of VERY DEDICATED volunteers who have undertaken the heart-felt task of rescuing animals from high kill shelters. So it was with great joy & anticipation that I looked forward to adopting a sweet little dog from Scooter's Pals. Initially the volunteers were very accommodating, waiving the home inspection and forgetting to bring an adoption agreement. After just a few hours at home though I could tell this was a very, very sick animal. I contacted the group immediately to find out what to do. They basically said that they were too busy dealing with other animal crises and could not help at that time, but would NOT cash the check i wrote them for the $200 adoption fee. When I returned from being out of town they told me to make arrangements to get the dog to my own vet. After scheduling an appointment for later that week, they then contacted me and told me to drive little one to their vet almost three hours away. They arranged for a wonderful woman to become her special needs foster family. I spent an entire day just to insure the well being of his little girl......driving to and from grass valley, spending hours at the vets office, talking with her foster family about my concerns. Weeks later without any warning the organization cashed my $200 check and refused to refund the money. They tried to blame me for refusing to keep what was and is a VERY SICK ANIMAL(severe cataracts, completely deaf, covered in sores/skin lesions, giardia &pancreatitis) In the meantime, I am out hundreds of dollars and I am heartbroken.
