I want to write a positive review of my experience since there are such mixed reviews on J&G. Remember folks, mom and pop style local gun shops are a dying breed in California. Careful leaving negative reviews over a sensitive ego. I bought my first rifle from J & G 18 years ago when they were over in old Rocklin and am glad to see they're still holding out in CA.
I went in last week to drop off a rifle to have it worked on and to look for a specific rifle. Not having what I wanted, I headed home. Cameron called me back realizing that he didn't notice the specific model I wanted on consignment and told me about it. He sent me pictures through his personal phone which was very helpful and they agreed to sell it at a fantastic price, so I headed in yesterday to pay for it. I didn't catch the older gentleman's name who did the DROs paperwork, but he was great to work with. I had already paid when I remembered I needed a new scope cap for another setup, but I was stuck deciding between two sizes. The gentleman said "How about you take this one, see if it fits, and if it doesn't then bring it back when you pick up the rifle after the 10 day wait. We will exchange it and charge you for the correct one when you're back."
The great price, sending photos through personal phone, and the gesture with the scope cap were all acts that they didn't need to offer, but ensured I was taken care of. Don't hesitate to come to J & G. I will come back for sure.

Took my son to have a new barrel installed on his first shotgun. He was told a price when he dropped it off and told it would be about a week. After over 3 months, he finally got a call saying it was done and the price he was quoted had more than doubled. I talked to the manager myself and explained what we were told and he said that was a mistake and they were just going to put the old barrel back on if we didn't pay. I offered to pay a little more just to not go through the trouble and he said no. It then took another few weeks to out the old barrel back on. They test fired the new barrel and didn't clean it either. Never again. Great prices on guns but service is terrible.

I had J&G work on two of my firearms. One semi auto 12 gauge and an old remington 700 bdl.
My 12 ga went thru a waterfowl season, took a dip thru the pond and had gone thru a few rain storms. Keep in mind I would clean it after each hunt and I still had cycling issues, likely not ammo related. Sent it into J&G, they replaced a spring, went thru a thorough cleaning, and unstuck a sealed shut modified choke. I took it out target shooting but their was a different cycling issue, I found out it was due to lighter loads. I took it dove hunting with slightly faster loads and it cycles like new! For my BDL, i had them knock off the iron sights, replace them with screws to fill the holes, and had them sight in an old leupold. Just came back from the range and it shoots well and straight. I highly recommend going to J&G for your gunsmithing work. Professional, knowledgeable, and fast with their services

Took my M1 rifle into their shop in August of 2023 for a barrel change, I supplied the Barrel. It’s now nearly April of 2024. After multiple calls inquiring into the status I cannot get a definitive answer as to whether the rifle is being repaired or returned to their shop so I can pick it up and send to another shop. They don’t return calls to provide status.

Worst service ever, workers are super hostile when you ask questions about your firearm, I took in my benelli nova for a missing retaining pin & ejector and was told it would be no longer then 3week, a month later, I called for a updated and was told to give them abt 2 to 3 more weeks, waited for the call and another month later called once again and was meet with the worse of attitudes and was told to come pick up my shotgun and try to do it my self bc my parts where not findable now days. NEVER EVER VISIT THIS PLACE you are better doing it ur self trust me

I have known Jerry for over 40 years: J & G is what your neighborhood Gun Store should be. These guys are the Pro’s: Having done business with every gun store in Northern and Central California, they are the best full service, reputable, and most knowledgeable……,I give them ****** stars!

I had to sell some old rifles and a shotgun left by my father and grandfather, non of them in very good condition. The guys at J&G were straight on their estimates and gave me fair prices. I have a background in firearms so felt they went a bit above. I definitely would return for purchases.

I’ve purchased 3 firearms from this shop, consigned two, and have always had a great experience. The guys are cool, answer any questions you have, and the store carries a lot of cool antique firearms.
