DO NOT TAKE YOUR CLASSIC CAR HERE - These guys cant change out a broken shifter cable. Came to pick up the car and the shifter wouldn't go into gear and the indicator was not even close. They tried to blame it on the B&M shifter (It worked fine for ten year's before that). So, they don't check their work before delivering. And they charged 2x the price for the cable and got all whiney when I called them out for the markup. Nothing but pushback and finger pointing from this place, extremely unprofessional in my opinion. Maybe ok if you have a newer car that can be diagnosed with a computer but I wouldn't come back here again.

First time into the shop, they were able to diagnose and solve an issue with both the drive shaft and transmissionn that was making our service truck undrivable. They made the fix the same day and got us back on the road. We really appreciate their professional service!

The guys at Goleta Transmission are fantastic. I needed a complete build of my transmission of my Yukon Dinali. It was promised three days later, and it was ready right on time. Their prices are very competitive. Our communication was fantastic and I just had a really good experience with them. If you need a transmission, that sucks. if you want a good place to go, Goleta Transmission is the place

If I did not know I was in an automotive repair shop. I would of thought Bryan was not only a Scientist but Father of the year as well.

Tom and crew are professional, courteous and great at explaining the details of your transmission. They serviced my car's transmission with efficiency and were on time as promised. I'll be back for more business in the future. Thank you!

I have had two experiences with Goleta transmission. Don't let the name fool you....they do transmissions but they do way more. Experience 1. Broke my transfer case in my 86 Bronco....without upwelling me, they replaced a $8 bushing and I was good to go. I was prepared to spend thousands of $$$$ on a transfer case and got away with spending under $75. That is a win Experience 2. Took bronco back with several issues that were not at all transmission related. All fixed and under budget. From the steering column to the rebuilt front suspension to the non functioning rear window....this shop hooked it up. Highly recommend.

Had my truck less than an hour. Called me told me what was wrong. Fixed it for less than 300. I was prepared to pay much more. And when I asked if I needed to change the fluid, they said it was fine. They could of just said yes And tack on more cost. But they didn't. That's integrity in my book. We need more places like this.

Took my old Subaru in because it had pretty bad problems shifting. Turns out it needed a repair that was more than the value of the car, so I decided to junk it. To my surprise, no charge for the diagnostic! How often do you find that from a mechanic? As someone who knows barely anything about cars, I've found most mechanics fairly capable of doing their job. I have not found most mechanics to be honest or upfront, so the fact that the folks at Goleta Transmission basically charged me nothing, no labor for a diagnostic when it's a transmission specialty shop and who knows when I'll be in there again is really something. This behavior tells me they care about reputation over making a quick buck (even if that quick buck is within reason), and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for transmission work.

Avoid at all costs. Transmission job came in completed a week later than proposed, and $600 over the estimate. When we tried to ensure the warranty by having the work reinspected they said they were too busy and would call us in a few days to fit it in. Never called. Then a short while later we began having issues with our starter. The other mechanic we use noticed damage in the gears due to the housing missing a bolt when they reinstalled the starter at the transmission shop. They stripped the housing so no bolt would fit and just left it- so every time we would start the engine the part would shake violently and cause damage to the starter and the flywheel they had just replaced. He did his best to remedy the situation, but within a week it all failed and now we need a new starter and transmission flywheel due to their shoddy work. Sad to see them take advantage of their own local neighbors. Planning to report them to various consumer review and mechanic's boards.
