Hi, truly a pretty bad experience at Robert Hall. Very poor communication. It's consistently hard to reach people at the office, can take over a month to get a response on email. When I had an issue with my Tax Return (that RH filed), the response was to pay more money to RH to increase my business with them. I ultimately just paid the extra ~$6K that IRS said I owed because I couldn't reach my Tax Adviser after over a month of trying (voice, email), to see if I even should.

*Update* *August 2024* Yesterday we received, via docusign, our 2023 correct amended tax return. We started this process in January - it has taken Hall & Associates 8 months to get our taxes filed correctly. Here's how it went - Hall filed the return with errors. We requested an amended return be prepared. That was done. It had errors. We made an in person meeting to get the amended return corrected. The correct amended return was prepared finally in July. For weeks, the incorrect amended return was sent to us on docusign. After repeated emails and calls we received the correct amended return via docusign yesterday. Unbelievable incompetence and negative customer service. We have never received an explanation, we have never received a call to apologize or help us understand why the company messed up repeatedly. In fact, we have been treated with contempt and disrespect for trying to get this company to do the right thing. Calls and emails not returned, and when we were able to get someone on the phone they pretended they didn't know who we were or what the issues were. Then, when they finally prepared the amended return - it also had errors - and they wanted us to sign it and they would have filed it. Sheesh. It took an in person meeting to get the correct amended return prepared and then for a month afterwards they sent they old amended return to us on docusign. This is the worst (in 45+ years of filing taxes) experience I have ever had with a tax preparer. Run, do not walk, away from this company.

"Not good" would be an understatement. When our US tax advisor retired due to illness in 2018, our longtime makeup artist Michelle recommended Robert Hall & Associates ("RHA") in Glendale, CA.
What began promisingly turned into a nightmare: the filed tax return was rejected by the tax authority, delaying our approved Green Card due to the missing tax return. Initially, this wasn't an issue as we held 10-year visas. However, Covid restrictions prevented travel, costing us nearly $100,000 over two years.
Upon re-entry, Wendy Lin had left RHA. Despite inquiries, including through our makeup artist Michelle, we received no response. Robert Hall himself remained unreachable, ignoring emails, faxes, and personal letters from 2019 onward.
Later, blame was shifted to the IRS (Appendix 3). Another RHA representative, Wendy Robles, quoted:
"... Wendy no longer works for Robert Hall & Associates. You have been reassigned to Candice for this year. Individual returns cost $799, business returns $1199. If interested, let me know your preferred booking time...."
Astoundingly, they sought to charge us again for their erroneous service. Seeking advice from other tax advisors, all were aghast at the mishandling—resulting in amending returns for 2018, 2019, and subsequent years (RHA did not invoice for 2020/2021 despite their mandate).
Then Chief-of-staff Crystal Hinojosa promised refunds (Appendix 4) that never materialized, pushing us into legal action in Small Claims Court for $10,000—covering $2000 in faulty fees plus additional costs and time (over 100 hours) incurred during the two-year travel ban.
The court set the hearing for April 4, 2024, serving RHA on February 22, 2024. Chief-of-staff Crystal Locke postponed due to the tax season, rescheduling to June 4, 2024 (Appendix 6), yet made no effort to settle out of court.
On June 4, 2024, we eventually met Crystal Locke. Despite suing for $10,000, we settled for immediate payment of $2000. RHA could only issue checks bi-weekly, further delaying the process until June's end .
No check arrived; a photo showed an envelope tossed at our door, unprofessional for a court-issued matter.
On July 3, Locke wrote, acknowledging the missed delivery and promising a new $2000 check, undelivered to date.
Reattempting settlement, Locke rejected our offer, believing RHA had acted correctly. We had hoped for resolution, offering to collect the check ourselves—promised, but unfulfilled.
Since 2019, RHA's service has been deficient. Surviving on such attitude, I strongly caution against their advice. Recent consultations with the Small Claims Advisor hint at favorable judgment, potentially up to $10,000, pending hearing.
I am appalled; court decisions are uncertain. As a 61-year-old entrepreneur, this conflict resolution is the most troubling, reflecting poorly on RHA's ethics and service quality.

Awesome service, highly recommended. Thank you Wendy Lin! is what I have written in 2019, believing in that I was in good hands. Now, in 2022 I have to realize that Mrs Lin, who has now left the company, screwed it all up, so we are, in May 2022, still fighting to clean the 2019 mess.
Absurdly long wait times on hold and multi-day delays to emails, as well as a manager who took three weeks even just talk to me. Their customer service is just awful. I've used them for 2019 but never again.
I can only warn you to employ them.I I have filed in Small Claims Court today against them to make them pay back monies collected and reimburse me for my time.

This used to be the place to get your taxes done, but since the pandemic, their service has declined as their fees have gone up. You can see other reviews are the same. You can’t get a hold of your preparer. They make more and more mistakes. They file incorrectly. Too many clients. They don’t want your business.
