I should preface my review by stating that I consider the mechics at Mountain View Tire and Auto Service excellent repair people. I would have given them 5-stars for the work but the customer service experience was truly bad.
On 5/28/2024, I took my vehicle into this shop to have a wheel alignment performed. When I returned, to pick-up the vehicle, was informed differential had a leak and that it would cost $350.00 to replace the seals.
On 5/31/2024, I left my vehicle so new seals could be installed but later received a call advising me the rear axle had a major leak that spread oil over the differential and ruined the rear breaks. The newly calculated cost was slightly more than $2200.00. I was told I could apply for a "payment installment plan" allowing me to make interest free payments for up to 12-months. When I returned to pick-up the car, I applied for the payment plan but at the end of processing discovered I had unknowingly applied & been approved for a new credit card which I did not need.
Before leaving, I asked if the shop repairs airconditioners. I was advised that a diagnostic of the airconditioner would cost me about $240.00 but was told I might be able to get a less costly assessment at some other shop. I was also informed that I could return and advise them what repairs were needed to resolve the airconditioning issues.
On 6/05/2024, I returned and informed a representative a new airconditioning compressor was needed. I left the vehicle and later that day, was called to pick it up. The total cost came to $1068.67. Of that charge, $165.00 was for refrigerant, $80.00 for full AC service (labor), and miscellaneous other charges. The airflow greatly improved but was not nearly as strong as I had hoped it would be. However, with the sudden rise in temperatures in the L.A. basin, any improvement is greatly appreciated. Before leaving, I was told the car needs two new tires.
On 6/07/2024, I returned and left the car so that the two new tires could be installed.
By 6/17/2024, the car was again expelling warm air through the airconditioning vents. It was as if the repairs had never been performed. I returned to the shop on 6/18/2024 and informed that of the lastest issue involving the airconditioner they repaired on 6/05/2024. I was called later that same day and hoses were leaking. When I left the car at the shop on 6/05/2024, dye was placed in the unit to detect leaks but none had been seen. I really don't comprehend how that is possible, nonetheless the refrigerant had leaked. I was also informed that the parts the car needed were unavailable and that I could come and pick-up the car and wait for the shop to contact me when the parts are received.
Though I fully understand that at times, things are delayed but the weather had not become hot and having to return to the shop to pick-up a vehicle which was again experiencing issues that were previously repaired, had become frustrating. Despitre the mounting negativity, I still had confidence the shop would finally resolve this issue. However, when I arrived to pick-up the car, the young man assisting me informed me that he needed to call his manager because he was uncertain if I would have to pay for a part of the work that had just been performed. While standing at the counter, I heard the entire conversation between the man who was assisting me and his manager. The manager emphatically stated that I needed to pay at least 50% of the estimated cost and then proceeded to enter into a lengthy explanation of why payment was required including "what about if we do the work and he doesn't return. Then we will not be paid." A simple, "Yes, please collect 50% of the payment and the difference can be paid when all repairs are completed" would have more than sufficed. The manager needs to hone up on his professional acumen which is currently quite deficient.
When I return I had

Mixed review from a frustrated customer. I usually get great service from this place but today I pulled in with a nail in my tire 17 minutes before closing. I explained that I had to go to the airport in the morning, but they said they couldn’t help me because it was too close to closing. Having been to this place with a similar problem in the past I know it only takes 15 minutes to fix and I’m the only customer here. Oh well, if they don’t want my business, I can take it elsewhere. As I write this, they’re still open for 10 more minutes. Super frustrating.

It’s just way too expensive. The service is fine, but the prices are unreasonable. There are better prices literally anywhere else.

Mountain View Tire and Auto in Glendale/Burbank is an exceptional garage. They communicate well, and the owner, Raz, is an intelligent and amazingly competent mechanic who has offered suggestions and advice over the years to keep our cars running. My two sons now also have cars, and they also see Mountain View Tire and Auto as part of their “team.”
I would highly recommend this garage to anyone.

Went in for a free tire rotation, ended up with $800 in fees with no payment options offered. I’ll grant that some of that might have just been the necessary cost of keeping my car rolling but there was very little transparency around what was being done to my car and what the cost was until I was suddenly handed the bill. I brought my car in at 1 on a Sunday with 4 hours left in the work day and was told they would call me to let me know if the car needed oil. Once 3 rolled around with no contact from them I finally called them only for them to say that yes in fact the car did need oil but now it was almost 4 and they’d have to keep the car overnight. When I said I really needed it by end of day suddenly I had a mysterious tire issue that was unfixable until the following morning. I ended up 3 hours late to work on Monday because my one method of transportation was out of commission over an oil change and a tire rotation. I want to be clear everyone at the shop was really nice and kind but kindness only gets you so far if you leave a customer feeling scammed by the end of a visit and I can’t recommend this shop in good conscious I personally will not be returning.

Good service, good prices, came in for front end alignment, took an hour and $130, on a rainy Sunday that's a great deal if you ask me,,.
