Called to get in estimate to get brakes and rotors replaced, over the phone I got an estimate of $400-$500 and was asked to bring it in to give a more accurate estimate. So I did, got a call back saying it was gonna cost over $700, which at this time wasn't in the financial position to do so. Went to pick up my car, the person I spoke to on the phone went on to tell me they use the best parts and that's why he was goin to charge me an arm and a leg. Again, ya ever had tough time and then they know it and go on to tell u why you can't afford it... so disrespectful. In no way was I expecting a hand out but it was unnecessary. Oh it gets better... they went on to charge me over $80 just to give me an estimate! If I would have known how much they were gonna charge I would have never taken my car, that's the reason for my initial call to make sure I can afford it and they failed to tell me they charge just to give an estimate. Ridiculous! Everything happens for a reason, I vented about this to a family member which then referred me to a friend that works at Toyota and replaced them with Toyota factory parts and almost half the price. Either way.... Got new brakes and I would never come here again for service.

I brought my truck in for suspension work, and it was around 800 bucks. A bit much, but ok. I've taken other vehicles here before, and I WAS happy with the service. They started charging customers 8% for credit card transactions. I am completely disgusted with this change, passing another price increase to the customer. Bad enough, they're charging a premium for hourly labor, now 8% more for a credit card. I think it's completely ridiculous to change us 8% more. I don't mind paying a premium for labor here, they do good work. The 8% more, come one guys... In their defense, a small coupon online is available. They can keep it, Im so tired of being nickeled and dimed. I'm taking my business elsewhere. Completely unsatisfied with the 8% fee.

I just moved from Florida to Gilroy and my car didn’t pass the smog test? Preferred Automotive “squeezed” me in, diagnosed the problem, and kept me informed throughout the process. As a newcomer to Gilroy, I will return.

My 1997 VW golf with AAA two preferred auto motive just recently, like yesterday. I knew my clutch cable went out and unfortunately I knew it could only be the clutch cable. They indicated the clutch was good but the cable needed to be replaced. They said it would take 2.5 hours at $165 rate for labor per hour. my gut instinct indicated highway robbery! 2.5 hours to change a clutch cable only?! I knew this to be incorrect but they had me buy the balls. I was going to pay $625 for a clutch cable until they came to their senses, and realized their labor charges Were grossly estimated. It was re-estimated to only take 1.3 hours so the price dropped to $411. I am very happy about the price tag but mostly I am very happy with the install. Meaning, whoever installed the clutch cable surely dialed it. my car seems to run better and shifts better and I'm very happy with this auto shop and I highly recommend it. I really want to bring my other car here but I live in Santa Clara. Oh thank you Patrick and David for the excellent service. Thank you!

My review is long overdue as well. I own a 2012 CL63 Mercedes that I have owned for approximately 3 years. I was referred to this shop by a friend of mine that lives in the Gilroy/San Martin area. I was having a problem with my dash displaying a battery charge problem. After taking my car to AAA to have it checked and battery changed I still had the dash reading. I took it to a auto electric shop, and a high end shop specializing in Mercedes they could not find a remedy. I was frustrated beyond believe at this point. I reached out to David and Patrick and the crew at Preferred Automotive. They got the job done to my amazement. I had other work done there as well and I am totally convinced this is the place I will always take my vehicle.

Preferred auto in gilroy is the best auto shop I've ever done business with. Their garage and work space is cleaner than my own garage. David is a stand up guy; he's always down selling me; he always tells me, "you don't need it". They're the best in Gilroy; probably in a 100mile radius. Their prices aren't the super cheap but very competitive; they're legit. I recommend them to all my friends and family.

This is a long overdue review. I drove from the Los Angeles area to the Bay area early June and got some strange warning lights on my car. Went to pep boys to get an interpretation of the lights which turned out some gibberish... Suggesting that I had major problems with my car that would have costed thousands. Call preferred automotive... Read them the code output over the phone, despite the output their response was 'you might just need an oil change. ... Drop over and let us check your oil levels'. Drove to their shop... They checked the oil and to my disappointment the oil level looked fine. But the guy still felt that most likely the car was Just in need of an oil change and directed me to a local Valvoline shop just a few minutes away (thank God 4:00 p.m.).... They changed out the oil and a jiffy and a miracle.... All the warning lights disappeared .. the car was just fine. Thanks so much to preferred automotive for their experience and honesty. Looking at the photos on their website I think the gentleman that helped me was probably named Patrick. Thanks so much!!!!

There was a shortage on parts for our BMW. The team at Preferred went above and beyond to find the parts and had them overnighted from Florida. They replaced the car and ran full tests to make sure all was perfect. We were very impressed with their quality of service and professionalism during the entire process.Service: Air conditioning
