This place is amazing. They have massive piles of soil, dirt, and bark. The prices can’t be beat and the soil looks pretty good. Can’t wait to try it out!

Ordered 6 cubic yards of 27a for lawn topping and found it to be very low on organic compost material, appears to mostly sandy dirt which does not sustain plants very well, I've been finding it difficult for grass to grow in it, currently amending with compost/ manure

I'm a landscape contractor been using theirs products for years, from soil, bark, mulch, gravel, decomposed granite (DG). Great quality, you get what you pay for...they carry the best DG with stabilizer in LA. Friendly staff, never had any issues.

OK, the prices are good, the staff is very nice & the location is convenient. Here's the catch. The products are ...not so much. I have purchased some products that are just fine & others yikes! Recently I bought a few yards of topsoil to replace the old stuff I removed before installing my not cheap Marathon 2 sod. Well, the entire yard is now full of nutsedge. It's a protected back yard so the wind blown from from the neighbors thought was not likely. The area of nutsedge was/is not isolated either. The entire area was/is full of it. I have had issues in the past with dirt purchased her being full of grubs but this time I was so disappointed, I had to write in. I will not be coming back. :(

Edited: I initially left a review sharing my disappointment with the quality of the 69A planter mix. I am now amending my review to reflect my positive experience with B.D. White as a company.
The soil: 69A is a mix of topsoil, Kellogg's amendments, and wood shavings that is advertised as ready-to-go for growing a vegetable garden. I received 6 cubic yards of the mix, worked hard to create raised beds using the soil, and ultimately found it to be lacking in the nutrients and microbial life necessary for a thriving garden. All transplants and seeds that I've started in the raised beds have stunted or died and I will definitely need to add amendments to improve the soil. In fact, they sent out a sample of my soil for testing and results showed a very low pH and high salinity.
The company: I spoke with the company over several occasions and visited the site as well. They were helpful, answered my questions, and were kind enough to give me a refund. Hopefully the batch I received was a fluke. I am happy with the attentiveness of the staff; they care about their product and I want to respect what they do as a local small business.
I do wish to note that this company specializes in topsoil and makes mixes from soil that has been cleared from construction sites. If you're looking for fill dirt, this is probably your place. If you're looking for garden soil for your raised beds, you may want to first visit the site to see if the soil mix is what you're looking for, and perhaps start with a small amount of soil before committing to a large delivery. Hope this is helpful!
