I've used XOA TAX for taxes the past 2 years - they're awesome! Friendly, knowledgeable staff take the time to understand my complex tax situation with rental properties and multiple businesses. They ask tons of questions and always find extra deductions I miss, getting me max refunds. Before XOA, taxes were a pain. Now I look forward to my yearly appointment. Hired this firm for taxes and after 3 weeks they provided a completely incorrect tax return. The issue mainly being they do not spend enough time looking at your return and communicating how they crunched their numbers. It appeared this CPA made a lot of assumptions, which wasn't communicated to me. I found out by crunching the numbers through a couple long-standing online software programs and a 5 star Yelp CPA who explained that some CPA's assume cost basis of 0 on some sells even though that is not even possible (example being if you bought Apple stock in the last 2 years-- the cost of acquiring those apple shares would never be 0 and actually quite considerable). Instead of telling me that they assumed incorrect cost basis, they just asked me to review it and sign if I had questions. This resulted in capital losses not being correctly harvested and paying taxes on gains I never actually made. If I had not been weary enough to get knowledgeable on this, it would've resulted in an incorrect return I'd have to get amended which would cost much more time and money. Update- Received the Yelp reply quickly, but interesting enough the actual accountant was always too busy to actually address concerns when it was prudent over the course of 3 weeks. This is the very first time I actually heard from the "accountant" and it was through a Yelp reply. They decided to refund my retainer instead of trying to correct the cost basis or even explain the issues with the cost basis. It resulted in me being out 3 weeks of time without the courtesy of the issue being conveyed to me by the accountant. Instead they did not want to spend any additional time on the matter and simply ended business saying they followed procedure when perhaps it could've been sorted out if they communicated details about the cost basis. TLDR-- there was a lack of communication and conveyance on details. Part of the issue being you always have to talk to a phone receptionist or through vague texts rather than an actual CPA on the phone. AI may replace some aspects of accounting, but good CPA's will spend time to effectively communicate with you which wasn't the case for me in this ordeal.

I was impressed with the straightforward tax preparation service I received. Although my taxes are typically simple this year's situation was more complex than I could handle alone. I contacted Hoang and he responded very promptly. The cost was a bit higher than expected but ultimately worthwhile for the expertise and efficiency provided. I submitted all of my documentation and my taxes were completed just two weeks later. I knew I would owe taxes this year and was dreading the process so I'm grateful it was handled smoothly and quickly. Hoang also provided helpful suggestions for planning my tax payments next year. I don't live live in CA anymore but I will likely return to Hoang next tax season because I feel like I can trust him & his team.

I highly recommend XOA TAX. I've had the pleasure of working with Hoang, whose years of experience in public accounting makes him knowledgeable in personal and business taxes. The company provides transparent pricing, timely service, and great follow up. I found Hoang to be efficient, professional, and personable.Hoang is great at explaining my accounting and tax situation each year and has assisted many of my friends who started their businesses. If he doesn't know the answer to a tax or accounting question, he does his due diligence and finds the answer or refers you to the appropriate resource. XOA is the company I always recommend when friends, family, or coworkers are looking for a tax professional/accountant.

I would give them zero stars if I could. My tax took over almost 2 months to be completed. I paid $280 for my services and mind you, my documents is very straight forward. I met with my preparer to submit my documents. He told me I have to pay the fees upfront via zelle which I thought was odd since service has not even started. After they made copies and took my payment, it took them weeks to respond with open items via email. The open items was on an excel list and they request to respond on that excel list. No coutesty call or nothing. I'm not saying my $280 is a lot but service and communication like this is my first time seeing and so laughable. After my documents was completed they explained to me that the tax for this year has been extended so I still fall within the deadline. Yeah it's extended but does it really take u that long to finish my taxes? I had a few questions on my tax and hoping the actual CPA would reach out to me directly to explain my taxes, but nope. The preparaer/ tax accountant became middle man and advise me what the CPA told him. He couldn't even explain in detail what the CPA recommended. Although my documents was reviewed by a CPA but the CPA didnt reach out to me for questioning. After all that, they sent me my files via email for signature. So if you're not tech savvy, and responsive to emails, I suggest u stay away. Never again I will come back. Service and communication is shitty. If u really need CPA advice and actually want to see them in person to ask questions, please go somewhere else. There's no person to person interaction. Everything processed here is electronically. What a waste of time!Update: The response from the manger said I was disrespectful to the team. Please provide evidence that I was and in what ways? Don't play the victim game. It's not very professional. You can reach out to me and I will personally give you the details. I would like you to provide me evidence for calling me being disrespectful to your team members.Thank you!

Another tax season successfully taken care of by XOA team. Having my business, payroll and individual returns nicely done for the third time now and not once did I ever receive anything less than top-notch service from everyone. I understand I am not a perfect client and not all of my previous tax practices are horrible, but with XOA I can never be more grateful that we found each other. They are truly someone what I wished to have in my journey: 1) they ask, 2) they listen, 3) they answer 4) they deliver. And I think a lot of business owners do share the same expectation. Having worked with different staffs throughout the years, I was never in doubt the quality of their work be lessen in any way, if not more. That is one big plus from management and one of the reasons I am confident to assure you that in the near future, this team will go places.
