I rarely leave 1-star reviews, but the experience I had this morning absolutely warrants one. I felt humiliated and deeply embarrassed. This morning, on 03/04/2024, around 8:40am to 9:00am, I was dressed in a black sweater and grey sweats, purchasing snacks for my son's lunch. Ralphs apparently had no manned checkout lanes open, strictly operating self-checkout. Unaware of this policy, I would have preferred to wait in a lane than deal with the rudeness of the self-checkout attendant. I was completely unaware of the new self-checkout system featuring conveyor belts. Call me old-fashioned, but I hadn't encountered such technology before. I assumed, perhaps naively, that these machines might function similarly to those at other stores, like Food 4 Less, where the conveyor belts are divided into separate lanes. So, when the customer in front of me finished scanning her items and began bagging them herself, I followed suit, not realizing that the system wasn't designed to accommodate multiple transactions simultaneously. As a result, my items ended up mixed in with hers at the end of the conveyor belt. That's when the self-checkout attendant started yelling at me, displaying extreme rudeness, insisting that I wait until the previous customer finished bagging. In response, I mentioned that there should be signs indicating this protocol, to which she retorted arrogantly that signs weren't necessary and that it was my responsibility to pay attention. I exercised restraint, despite feeling a surge of anger, as I'd just had my morning coffee. I could have easily put her in her place, but I chose not to escalate the situation. Shortly after, the manager approached me, attempting to be pleasant, oblivious to the rudeness displayed by her employee. With a forced smile, she asked how I was doing, to which I tersely replied "good."She then explained that I indeed needed to wait for the previous customer to finish both scanning and bagging their items before I could proceed. At this point, my frustration intensified for several reasons. First, I'm not an employee; I'm a customer, and I didn't sign up to scan and bag my own groceries. Guess what happened next? After I finished scanning my items, the person behind me began scanning theirs, and their items ended up mixed with mine on the conveyor belt. Quite a surprise, isn't it? It's evident that the operations manager overseeing this workflow should seriously reconsider either having a designated bagger to manage the items or instructing the self-checkout attendant to educate customers in line, rather than assuming we know how to navigate the system.

First of all, I go in there every single night because that's the only store that's available open late hours to get food for lunches and breakfast, for the next morning. The employees are very rude. They treat you like you're a thief like you're stealing. the security guard and the employees stand over you while you're trying to check out making you feel so uncomfortable and watch you every second pretty sad. This is our neighborhood Ralph's becoming here for over 20 years and I can't stand the store. Their prices are very expensive, but when you have no other options for stores late at night after you get off work, this is what you're left with the cashier that just stands there watches you and stares at you over your shoulder. Every second this neighborhood is not the best neighborhood because of all the vagrants, homeless and drug addicts that go in the store everybody else just regular people get treated the same very unfair.

Dillon works in the order pickup department. He text my number and asked me to hurry down because he wanted to go on lunch. quickly take my baby out of bath, put him in car wet. When I get there he comes out, the first words he said "Why are you here?" I said because you told me to come down, got here as fast as I could. He says ""I am trying to eat lunch.". please note, this was the time that was set up two hours prior. Dillon was mean, rude, and made me feel awful for doing nothing. I will not be using pickup at Ralph's Garden Grove again beacause of Dillon.

Specifically AFC Sushi in the store. Do not waste your money. Hardly any fish inside literally just a few specs. Also, the other ingredients were minimal especially the avocado.

Not my number one place to shop. I only go here out of desperation. I do not like the way their parent company treats union members.

They had invited someone from the Epoch Times, a far-right newspaper run by the Chinese cult Falun Gong (of Shen Yun fame) to advertise in the store on 12/23/23. The paper (and cult) have promulgated the QAnon conspiracy and anti-vaccine misinformation, as well as false claims that the 2020 election was stolen. I don’t know if someone didn’t bother to look up the organization, or if they are sympathetic to its politics, but I don’t think I care to shop here anymore. The manager was dismissive when I inquired about whether the paper’s representative got permission to advertise at the corporate or the store level.

I've been going to this Ralph's for years, and I have not run into a negative experience with this year. The store is clean on the inside. The parking lot is very spacious. They have a nice supply of clearance items next to the sushi department where I always look forward to seeing what's available. The shelves are always neatly well-stocked, so I rarely run into an issue of not finding what I need. On top of that, the staff have always been so helpful especially when I need help at self-checkout.

I have been an almost daily customer here for the last year. I don't know what has happened but in recent weeks this place has gone downhill. This used to be a fast, friendly, and convenient supermarket. That changed when they started closing the self checkout early, which means every time you have to wait in a very long line since there is only on cashier/checkout lane open. That pretty much killed any convenience. Now they have taken to stopping customers from coming in so that they can close the store earlier than they are supposed to. They use the excuse that Kroger allows them to close the store early if they have enough customers. Total BS. I was there tonight at 12:40 and was told this nonsense; meanwhile I coul clearly see only two customers in the checkout line. The store is supposed to be open for twenty more minutes! PS: I don't know the name of the new night security guard (he has a gray beard, balding, and wears way too much tactical gear for a security guard at a supermarket in Orange County), and is very rude, looking down at literally every customer from old people to kids who enter the store and acting like he runs the place. Definitely could use some customer service and politeness training. I used to love this supermarket but am now done with coming here.

Saw a recent post from Gloria E and I am not surprised to see that she has something bad to say. Looking at all of her reviews, she never has anything positive to say... By the way Gloria... We were there as well on the same day and time when the alleged pregnant girl was tackled. The guard that is there is a real gentleman and is a great person. Jason like the other guards that have to deal with the scum of the earth that pry on businesses is the reason why this store has to have these guys around there. I am just glad that they have real professionals like Jason who is a real human and a nice guy. Jason, if you read this... Keep doing what you're doing.. Haters will be haters.

It took me all night to finally come around and write this review as I am appalled with what I witnessed yesterday evening. Mind you my family and I are garden grove locals, we have been coming to this Ralph's and surrounding businesses for YEARS! And u have never seen such a thing. As I was putting my grocery's away with my son a very nice young lady was walking out of Ralph's with groceries in her cart when next thing I knew the security guard Jason nearly tackled the poor young lady down demanding she give him the reason why her cart locked. I heard her tell him she didn't know why the dang thing locked but offered to show her receipt which She visibly had in her hand! I was in shock at the aggression and unprofessionalism of this man I feared for the young woman mind you she was pregnant! There was no sign of management anywhere as this young woman was being falsely accused of stealing! I am in utter disbelief. Beware of this security guard. And Ralph's team shame on you for allowing such treatment towards a paying customer. And having other paying customers witness this such as my son and I.

Nice clean restrooms. And unlike the Walgreens next door, open for use at 7pm.

I called customer service last night about a damaged cap on a bottle of $5 vinaigrette, they said they'd happily replace it even though I had already thrown out the receipt. The bottle leaked when I shook it, it was not properly sealed. I go to exchange it today, & a short (for lack of better description) seems to be like a manager, was giving me a hard time, asking who I spoke to over the phone & chuckled saying "of course someone will answer"...?? Don't even know what that meant. After over explaining why I'm exchanging this $5 vinaigrette, she says go ahead. 5-10 seconds later, I'm walking to get my replacement & I hear a call for security over the comms to scan the aisles. The voice over the comms sounded like the same short manager that was giving me a hard time. I shop here regularly, it shouldn't have been that difficult to just exchange a $5 bottle of lemon vinaigrette.
