I only came to have my taxes prepared by a professional because of the "normally same day approval" of the Emerald Card advance. I told the preparer this. Told him I've done our taxes myself for years. Easy Peasy. But we could use funds immediately so I came to him so I wouldn't have to wait the time to get our refund. After all said and done, $118.00 later (would've been free for me to file online), I was told the card would fund in "A WEEK IN A HALF TO TWO WEEKS". I was speechless! I didn't know what to say. When I finally gathered my thoughts, I asked what do you mean? This card is advertised that it normally funds the same day. He then told me I never told him that's what I wanted, I only told him I wanted an Emerald Card. If I had told him that he had to fill out different paperwork, too late now, he's already submitted everything! I explained that I did tell him that, the only reason I came in to have my taxes done by him so we could get our refund immediately, NOT in the 2 weeks or so the government takes! Why would I spend the money to have taxes prepared, only to have to wait to get the refund? I specifically told him WHY I was having him prepare the taxes. How was I to know he didn't understand! He just kept repeating it was a "miscommunication" and nothing he could do about it, too late, already submitted. Jeez!! Not a happy customer! 2/8/2019: I've sent an email demanding a refund of my fees. No response to date. I've yet to be contacted by H&R Block Customer Satisfaction, as promised by a CSR when I filed a complaint on 1/31/2019. To top it all off, I helped my daughter filed her taxes on 1/31/2019, she received her refund TODAY!! I'm still waiting on our refund!! Filed my daughter's return the day after ours was filed and accepted and we are still waiting on our refund! NEVER again H&are Block!!

I have been going to Philip Nguyen for many years and always made sure he had time for me when I show up unannounced with no appointment. Only reason why I gave him a 3 star is just because of my recent visit a few days ago. I came in his office about 5 minutes before closing and even though he was still willing to help me, he seemed to have just rushed through my info and he failed to update my contact info. Normally not a big deal but I was told I would receive an Email in reference to my emerald card in 24 hrs but it has been almost a week and no Email or money and I paid for the extra service. I am currently working on getting a refund from him for the extra service of the Emerald Card fee.
