Whoever the CPA owner of this place needs to teach your staff how to do tax properly. I came here today for my tax return. I sold my home last year and this guy wanted to argue with me that if I made money from selling my home, I have to report it to IRS. Then he asked me whether I have sold my home before and I told him yes. Then he said this credit is for 1 lifetime only. I said no I have sold my home before and I never needed to report it. If I never reported, how did I ever use this credit up? Then he prompted that if you sold a home, you have probably used this 250k credit already. Long story short, please take a look at a reliable resource like turbotax. Like below: It said "You can use this exclusion EVERY TIME you sell a primary residence, as long as you owned and lived in it for two of the five years leading up to the sale, and haven't claimed the exclusion on another home in the LAST TWO YEARS." In other words, yes you can use it every time not just 1 lifetime.
