When you have a 1977 Datsun 280Z with Airconditioning and an Automatic Transmission that is, . . infested with Gremlins (not the American Motor's versions) of the little bug types. The only place to go and the only person on the west coast of California is Ken at Dando's Automotive.
Give him time and be patient, because there are places that even experienced owners and former mechanics like me that think they know what's going on are unaware of the craziest of possible problems. I've had my 77 since it was brand new and it took over a year of chasing, but Ken sorted it out when no one else could. I could turn this Thank You into a book, but we'll leave it right here with one very happy owner.

I spent weeks trying to figure out why my engine wasn't getting sufficient gas. Ken is very knowledgeable and diagnosed my 280zx. Turns out my fuel injectors were clogged due to my fuel filter deteriorating along with some other things. I would trust this man to restore my car to 100 percent, but unfortunately I don't have the money for that so Ken replaced my distributor, fuel filter, fuel injector, fuel pump, and ignition coil instead haha.On the day I came to pick up the car he drove it up front and noticed some last minute behaviors and said "I'm sorry I can't give you something that isn't perfect". That moment right there was when I knew Ken truly CARES (obviously I knew before that moment). I'll continue working on my Datsun and replace/fix things I can within my own ability, but I know where I'm taking it the next time I need something major figured out.Thank you Ken for your patience and automotive service. Hope to see you soon (without having to bring you a broken car LOL)!

My friend was closing down his Auto Machine Shop near Dandos and I was tasked with dispersing with inventory. There were several L24/L26 cylinder heads complete and other items. After the nasty reception I recieved from the front office lady when I brought over a new exhaust header for an L24…..I made the decision to take the header and several low mileage cylinder heads and just SCAP THEM! This woman needs a serious attitude adjustment if Dandos wants to remain successful. I felt rotten about doing what I did but, don’t like the way I was treated at all by this lady.

Dando's did a great job resurrecting our old 2004 Subaru. After a full year of non-operation, it would not even start. They quickly identified the 3 required fixes and had it running and ready for pickup the next day. Ken and Ann are always clear with their communication and able to work with our schedule. Dando's is my go-to shop for my classic American car. The owner, Ken, is very honest and knowledgeable. He takes the time to explain the mechanics and theory of his repairs. A lot of shops these days talk, but don't produce results. Ken knows his stuff. The days when mechanics relied on theory and deduction and not computer diagnostic scanners are limited. It's become harder and harder to find a mechanic like Ken who can work on old school cars. He treats my car like it's his own and he's the only one I trust with my car.

This is almost a year and months review of the work done on my car. Quoted 300-400 dollars over the phone ending paying almost 600 for an ac diagnosis and transmission oil change. After a year to be exact same problem with my ac. Found out that they used a cheap China made relay, my Freon was almost empty, they didn't even put back my fuse back cover right and thank god did not fall off. Was wondering why my first review was not posted...

Classic car repair, Dando's knows the ins and outs for Z cars and are the perfect local shop to bring my S30. If you have an 8 am appointment that is the time they clear out the garage from the diverse cars in storage, it was an absolute pleasure to see American, Euro, and Japanese cars and hear sounds and smells that have not been common on streets for 50+ years. It is a mini car show and in my short time waiting someone who was just driving by stopped in to see if anything was for sale. There aren't a lot of shops that specialize in older vehicles, I came for an oil change and received good recs for oil viscosity and tire pressure for stiffer suspension, they were also confident about troubleshooting horn problems before I was luckily able to fix it myself. Enjoyed the stories and anecdotes while waiting, its clear the team is passionate about cars and very familiar with all sorts of different classic vehicles.

I am so glad to have found an auto shop that I trust and has the best interest for me and my vehicle. Honest, hard working, down to earth and reliable auto body shop ! They take time to explain everything to me thoroughly and thoughtfully. 10/10 recommend.

Always honest about what is going on with my vehicle. Never feel like they're trying to upsell any issues and they'll break down step by step what they feel like what should be done. And they go by the manufacturer books when it comes to repairs, might take a little longer but I'd rather that then taking shortcuts and something going wrong. Been going for years and so has my father (for many more years than I!) highly recommended!!
