My man had a plumbing problem. Unfortunately he doesn't remember your employees name but major kudos. He was so knowledgeable and compassionate. We had to go back again, he was there and again was so very helpful. Dale's hardware have invaluable employees.

The customer service at this store is outstanding. Unlike other large retailers, their staff are knowledgeable and always ready to help throughout the store. It's refreshing to receive such useful assistance. Highly recommended.

I go here when I need some hardware stuff, get some keys to be duplicated and find other finds at this store. I prefer to go here for the friendly, helpful and personalized customer service. I would not go to Home Depot or Lowe's because when I ask for any help, they just don't put enough care and effort to help you beyond their way. They have a separate hardware, garden center, barbecue center, plumbing, paint, fixtures and they have everything here. They also have a key center to make your own fob, fob shells and can duplicate keys with characters. I only go here for this service. The price increased a little bit 2 years ago. But they still do this at this location. This is still the last standing Dale Hardware in the entire SF Bay Area location. I will come back because they have almost everything here at this store.

Like a hardware store should and almost never is. Super friendly and extremely knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend as a go to hardware store if it is within range. Prices are competitive to other stores as well and they support the local community a lot.

I was having trouble starting my new chainsaw. Called the store for help, they were all so helpful on the phone. Brought it in and met with Ryan, he had it running in like 30 seconds! Thank you so much Ryan. We're lucky to have such a high quality hardware store in our neighborhood.

They have a good, organized selection of fasteners but shopping here lately sucks. If you're even remotely melanated you're going to get followed throughout the store/and or condescended to by a bunch of their (almost entirely white) staff. Not really a good strategy for repeat customers in a town as diverse as Fremont, and lately I've been finding that if I can find it at Home Depot I'll go there instead.

This place is way better than Home Depot and Lowe's. Walking in, everything looked really clean and organized. I came here for a couple of screws and had a hard time locating a specific size I needed and the gentlemen working there helped me find it quickly. The other employees there at the shop were also super helpful locating other products I needed. Definitely coming back soon to just check out the rest of the store when I can!

I don't know anything about hardware so I decided to go where the "experts" are. Adam and Jami were very helpful. You need to avoid Anthony B. I was disappointed with his service. He spoke to me as if I knew about sizes and types of screws. Then he told how to search on Google for parts list which I did. Still didn't know what he was trying to show me nor did I care. Wasted 20 mins of my time and left irritated and no screws.

I am usually a big fan of Dale Hardware, and this is my goto place for keycopies and other hardware needs. Today, I needed to make a key copy, and there was a man in front of me patiently waiting for service. He mentioned he had been waiting 20 minutes and told the service person at the desk a few times that he needed assistance with keys. I did see 2 cashiers talking at the front service desk (Will use that term very loosely), and they made eye contact and continued talking to themselves. The man asked how many keys I needed, and I said 1 copy, and he was willing to let me go ahead even after waiting 20 minutes. Thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness, but I declined the gracious offer. Dale is usually on top of fast service, but I felt the need to post this as I felt bad for the guy before me.For Dale hardware manager: YOU need to do better, and there is NO excuse for lack of personnel to cover for someone else. It should be standard practice to train employees to cover for each other on all the work areas to prevent customers from waiting on a service you are supposed to offer.Update: Your key cutting machines need to be recalibrated. I made 8 copies and of those only 2 worked. 25% success rate, and I don't have the time to keep revisiting your store to hope they work the next time. I have heard many complaints that their keys are bad. I had to go to another locksmith that was further away for my needs. Hopefully you will be back to offering great key copies soon!

Great selection. Great staff. Feels like a small hometown store but with big box selections. Only downside is it is a bit pricier but it’s close by so worth it.

True Story: Can't make this stuff up... Marcus, the store mgr could care less about the service and shopping experience I received. Who can tolerate, excuse and/or justify Dale Hardware's actions? Was these actions/conduct APPROPRIATE or INEXCUSABLE? I recently waited an extra 10 mins for help after arriving it the store to pickup an online order near closing time. I did get the emailed confirmation that my order was ready, & was placed 3.5 hrs prior. I had driven futher beyond my local Ace Hardware (as item was not in stock there) & waited into a time near close of business (7 PM) to retieve my online order @ Dale Hardware. No one greeted me @ first. I was then told that the item was still on the truck, but it was still there & they needed more time to locate it to bring it to me... which means it was "had not actually been picked by them, nor left @ customer service desk & not ready for me to pickup", despite their emailed, READY for PICKUP" status. They never apologized to the delay. Now, the item was for a single piece of plexiglass which finally came to me, which I needed cut into 2 pieces. First, I was told, that service cost $1 per cut. When it did arrive & handed to me, another employee said that it would costs $3.99 per cut, instead... of the originally quoted $1 a cut. I complained to Marcus, the mgr, who showed up & he then refused to cut the item @ $1 per cut. Afterwards, he basically ran me out of the store, when I suggested, if he was willing to accept my offer of $1 for 2 cuts, because the second quote from their staff was some $3 higher per cut than before, in what I first had been told... and felt disrespected by them and cheated, such that they could raise the cutting service by 300% in just a matter of a couple minutes in time later. I felt this was not acting very friendly and they were possibly trying to price-gouge me for the service & not faithful or fair in dealing w/me as a customer. I also was inconvenienced by traveling farther than my out-of-stock local store, had waited so long, near store closing for pickup, and it wasn't ready late in the day @ Dale, even though, their store had confirmed readiness for pickup via email. Marcus objected to my proposal (refusing & not honoring my suggested counter-offer in a lower price), & did run me out of the store for arguing my point, as he actually did escort me out the door & even wanted to chase me out into their parking lot where my car was, as unpleasant words were exchanged. He threatened me if I even tried to come back into the store... as I Intended to bring my case up w/mgmt... but he was THE MGR ON DUTY... I didn't know this @ the time. LOL. These people are shameless, unfair, abusive, not customer-friendly & did resort to bullying tactics. End of Story: I did take my order to my local Ace Hardware (Pete's), who were friendlier and were happy to cut my piece w/o any issues FREE of CHARGE.

Thank you Reuben, you are awesome! Went in to get a new battery for my key fob. He saw my key fob was being held together by tape. He found a screw and fixed it right up. Thank you for your excellent customer service!

I went and returned something. I've bought two weeks ago at the store. I come back today to return it, and the manager is Accusing me of shoplifting. He couldn't tell me any information or dates or times other than a picture that he took, which was me purchasing two weeks prior. He couldn't give me any evidence or information other than a picture that he took off the camera from the last time I came in. As someone who worked loss prevention for several years, this is clearly not by any kind of policy, and their methods are antiquated and dangerous. By giving me no proof, other than a still shot photo from a camera it shows how unorganized and how unprofessional this business is. I presented my receipt and showed him that I was in there two weeks ago, and the manager couldn't even explain to me. It's OK though, because I couldn't even find the thing I was looking for, nobody in the store is ever going to help you unless they think you're shoplifting apparently. Management clearly doesn't know what they're doing, So I'm not welcome back at dales and it's OK cause a place that handles business like that shouldn't be in business. When I moved back my family told me not to go here because of the small inventory and lack of customer service, and now I see. The sooner they tear this place down and turn it into Apartments, the better.

The customer service was really good here. The layout seemed designed for customer service; there's a customer service desk directly in front of the entrance.I used the key service and they had a variety of sizes and keys. Then when I checked out, they reminded me that there is a 100% guarantee for cut keys -- meaning they'll recut if it doesn't work.
