Lucky to be in business still, it's like stepping into a "closing soon store." Half the workers are irritated and won't help you at all.

First, there is a very friendly and helpful guy operating the prepared food counter, but there is another guy there who makes it clear that he hates you for some unknown reason. When you say 'thank you' he simply glares at you. Second, there's a cashier who asked if I had a "digital coupon" for the sale items. I said I didn't bc I didn't see the 'digital coupon' sign. He oddly asked me if I believed him. I said I did. He asked me if I wanted the items removed from the bill, I said yes, and then he simply pretended to remove the items, bc when I left the store, I still had the items and the full charges. I just gave up and kept the full-price items, but vowed not to go back. It's just not worth going there, even with some potential savings, because of the barely concealed hostility on the part of these two employees.

There is a reason I do not bring my laptop to the grocery store, cut the line, and ask the cashier to take over writing the memo I'm in the middle of. That is because writing said memo is my job, which I am paid to do, and which my boss and clients expect me to perform myself and not outsource. Lucky's evidently does not operate under the same principles. Every time I come in, there is one (1) checkout lane being operated by an actual human being. If I have any chance of getting home before the groceries I wish to purchase spoil, self-checkout is the only viable option. That kafkaesque process is inevitably punctuated by 5-6 "see store manager for assistance" alerts for such crimes as: (1) clicking skip bagging more than 3 times when you... are skipping bagging...; (2) trying to scan something with a barcode without intuiting that you should manually type the code instead; or (3) taking too long with any of the above because the single store clerk on duty is shouting incomprehensible instructions at you while simultaneously dealing with the sole, ever-lengthening non-self-checkout queue mentioned above. In short, pure chaos as a result of a business model premised on customers doing the job of employees "aided" by, to put it charitably, less than perfect machines.

I'm standing at the self checkout because an item is not ringing up at the advertised price. There is also a person waiting in the check out line and another person waiting for assistance in self check out. Why? Because there is not one employee or cashier to be found.

If there was a contest for the worst run supermarket in America, I would bet my life savings that Foster City Lucky would win. The staff is miserable, slow, and rude. Every time I shop here, it is a calamity. I actually encourage you to visit once to see for yourself how bad it is. It is truly remarkable. Congratulations to all.

I purchased hot food for my daughters lunch the other day and was given choices for sides. Mind you most the sides they have listed isnt available. So why even have it on ur menu? Well i ended up getting a breast and leg and the leg given had no meat just fried skin! And to top it off since they dont have the side items i wanted i agreed to get both my side items as fries. I was only given 4 fries for my 2 side choice orders? Id rather get my moneys worth and get mac and cheese as its stated on ur menu. Come on lucky get your store up to par! Also the guy who assisted in getting my food has a horrible attitude problem and shouldnt talk shit as i walked away. I can still hear you mumble your rude remark. Also please train your employees that does the register at night. Asian lady said she cant do a return mins after purchasing from her saying i need to come back the next day when more people are there that can do returns. To top it off the asian lady was on her phone talking the whole time i was at the store. Didnt even acknowledge me or even say hi because she was too busy talking on the phone. Is that how you run your location? You allow your employees talk on the phome when people are in line to checkout.

Beware. You may want to start checking the expiration dates at this supermarket as after recently visiting this store I almost walked away buying yogurt that was 2 months old. When I brought it to the attention of a staff member nearby he went on to say to complain to their corporate office as there were many shopping carts in the back stockroom filled with expired items. Was nearby there again today and thought buying dry goods would be safe but NO! See the product I bought today that expired in March. What the hell.. hope someone calls the food police and reports them. Watch out!

Although it is a convenient location- I hardly ever go here. I've lived in Foster City for years, grew up here in fact and I've repeatedly been treated poorly at this location. I don't know what the company culture is there but the ambiance is not welcoming. I've had friends and family who've said the same and see reviews that share experiences similar to mine.

Better selection / fewer out of stock items than Safeway - especially milk! Less hectic parking and store = better ambiance / shopping experience! Easter steak & potatoes from the deli were better than Town (popular steakhouse)! The lady preparing these really went above and beyond!

The employees here seem ready to go out of their way to be helpful at a moment's notice, and, despite it being the Tuesday evening before Thanksgiving, today was no different.

Been debating whether to post or not bc the store was v clean, super organized & the cashier was pleasant. But among the groceries I bought at full price were canned cat food that have a BB date of 5/16/22!!! *Have never ever experienced this before* (Normally patronize the Lucky in San Carlos or Millbrae) I do want to give a shoutout to the chain bc I learned the brand PAWS HAPPY LIFE is produced by a nonprofit svc organization cooperatively owned by supermarket chain members. Locally I can only find it at Lucky so far.
