Disappointing Strange Billing Practice? I asked Foster Lumber to open an account to purchase and have delivered good quality lumber to my disabled son's home in Vallejo. I lived in Berkeley and ordered from Truitt & White but the delivery to Vallejo was too far. Foster Lumber told me they could open an account for us for Vallejo deliveries ONLY if I deposited in advance. They would send monthly statements to both my son and myself in Berkeley and a REMINDER to deposit more funds in advance when our credit balance was gettig low..I made several deposits via a personal check. When I did not receive a statement, I called and suggested the accountant send the statements online. Statements were sporadic...different staff members answered the phone each time I called, appologising. The credit balance stayed around $100 for several years.I was not informed to deposit several hundred dollars in the account as agreed when we started the contract. Further, please review this Customer Account record--clear the 'open items' misinformation that appears on the Customer Account Statement 12/1/2023 . The ''no of transactions' shows a 'value of transactions' with remaining Balance due of $123.10. We have '0' transactions, nor a prior unpaid balance due.Please adjust this accounting. I made the deposits in good faith, expecting Foster Lumber to live up to our contractual agreement that we would be informed of the remaining positive credit deposit balance with a reminder to deposit more funds when it was a + balance below $100. Instead, now we are informed of a negative balance ! I always pay all bills in full--never make monthly payments of carry over charges offered other than taxes and insurance. I would like for Foster Lumber/Central Valey to review our account history and send a refund. Sincerely, JMP & BP

We decided to go here instead of the big box stores and are very happy we did. The quality of boards we received for our fencing project were superior. We had them delivered to our home and we were told that if weren't pleased with any of boards we could exchange them. Out of the 216 boards we only needed to exchange 11 and we are very picky. We also experienced excellent customer service. The prices may be a little higher but well worth the cost when you consider the quality you are receiving. Our fence is now completed and we've already received many compliments.

Good quality wood and materials my fence contractor Pereira Fencing Company uses their wood to replace my fence. The color and durability of Foster Lumbar is excellent. I am a firm believer in supporting the small local business first, before heading to a big box store. Thank you Foster Lumber.

Tiane and the crew at Foster Lumber Yard helped me select the right materials to cover up an old chain link fence in my back yard as well as getting me set up with the decking materials. I had a vision for what I wanted and the folks at FLY made it EASY to get this project moving. She took me around the yard and helped me pick materials that were right for the job. I got a quote the same day for the two options I had narrowed it down to. Once I had picked, Tiane coordinated the delivery. The folks who delivered my materials were super friendly. The materials were high quality and I got exactly what I needed. I would 100% work with Foster Lumber Yard again. They were helpful, reasonably priced, and friendly. THANK YOU!

We've got the wood! All the pickings at the big box stores were sad. Foster had what I needed, at a reasonable price. I'll never buy lumber anywhere else.

Paid for a piece of lumber on Monday that i needed for a job that was supposed to be done Saturday. They said they could deliver on Wednesday or Thursday the latest. Thursday comes around and no delivery i call and they said they weren’t able to get what i ordered in time, but they could get me something similar and guarantee it will be delivered by Friday. I call Friday at 8am to follow up and they once again say yes you will get it today. I call again at 1pm and they say yes it just pulled in we will call you when we are on our way. I then get a call at 2:30pm and they tell me that they don’t have the lumber that they guaranteed id receive and i’d have to wait till Monday. This is such BS don’t guarantee anything if you can’t follow through.

My neighbor and I had paid for redwood slats for a fence project through our contractor. Two weeks later when our contractor was going to pick them up, the boards were bad. Boards were dirty and cut from other lumber to create the slats and deemed not usable for our fence project by our contractor. This resulted in Fosters not correcting the issue and wanting to refund our payments. Additionally, this resulted in delay of getting our fence completed. It also took Fosters several times to get an invoice. Issues ranging from their scanner didn't work or someone called in sick. I do not believe I will be doing business with them anymore.

Unhelpful. I went in to get a replacement board (tongue in groove) for a stable door. They helped me with one a few years back (had the board in stock) and even cut it to match the old one. However, this time the guy that was at the counter acted smug and condescending. I showed him the board I was trying to replace he chuckled at me and said "tongue in groove huh? Na, we don't do those...." I asked him if he knew anyone who sold this type of board and he was very dismissive and wouldn't offer any help. I took my business to Meeks Lumber in Vacaville. Rich

When one walks in the door, you immediately get the unhelpful vibe - you're not going to get what you need from these people today, l***** Tomorrow isn't much better either. You know what I mean. Every time we've gone in, it's just disinterested and lousy service. Paid $900 for about 12 pieces of clear coat grade white oak for doorway trim. Wrapped up tight, it sat in our garage for 3 months for our contractor to install. When unwrapped, all pieces had deep mill marks, many splits and knot holes. The wood was not finish sanded and we ended up having to pay someone better (Hardwood Resource) $700 to replane and sand the wood. It still wasn't that great, so we bought about a third of what we needed again from HR for $400 and the product was BEAUTIFUL. When we went to Foster to show them the crap material they sold us, we got nothing, nada. No care, no interest, no solutions offered. So, no thanks. They've lost a $10K+ customer in me.
