Huge, well lit, clean and has a nice variety of products. I have a friend who drives up from Monterey county and admires how within product types, you can find a nice selection. By that I mean, if you like a brand of ice cream, there will be a wide selection of flavors within that brand. That's the good news. The bad news is on the increasing rare occasion I shop there, I almost routinely manage to purchase items that have gone bad, i.e., gone moldy, are foul tasting (produce) and the like. I used to return such crap purchases, but not once have I ever received an apology, and often I have been treated like I was the problem, not the mold covered hummus (with a date of purchase/receipt in hand!). So now I just toss whatever bad product and again, stay away for months at a time. I've lived near this Raleys for 20 plus years. This past week I shopped there and in my purchases was a $5 artisan sour dough bread. When I got it home I discovered the loaf was so stale I could drive nails with it. I NEVER learn.

We find Raley's a little pricey for many everyday items although the quality and selections are great. The real draw for us are specialty items which are difficult to find in most grocery stores.

We shop here consistently. I like the store and everything is fresh and high quality. Sometimes I go to Safeway, across the street, but only when I want to go to their Starbucks. Raley's has a Pete's, which is good too. They have a fresh bakery, deli, floral, and other sections, as well as a post office, drug store, etc.

The Raleys at Hazel and Madison in Fair Oaks is the Nordstrom of the local grocery chains. It's definitively not cheap but they do have good specials. But, one doesn't go to Raleys for pricing. One goes because their selections are amazing. Almost anything I need, they'll have, no matter how exotic. Also, their customer service is wonderful. Needless to say, the store is clean and well maintained. They recognize their regular customers. My mother always said you need a personal relationship with your bank and your grocery store in case of emergency. Raleys is that kind of store that you want in your corner.

So convenient and some very efficient and friendly staff. But NOT in produce. Aloof, predisposed and argumentative when bringing deficiencies to their attention. They supposedly replaced produce mananager, but not so sure.
