Our room was pretty nice, except the door to the second room was hanging off the hinges. The room itself had absolutely zero hot water. So after being on the road for 2 days we were hoping to have a hot shower, we had to skip showers bc the water was so cold. Lots of homeless in eureka so they keep all the side doors locked so the front is the only entrance. I assume to keep the homeless from roaming in, but inconvenient for paying customers as we got locked out at 1030 pm when we ran to get food. Another customer was coming out to his car and let us in.

Unorganized front desk, charged from the booking and charged again when I got to the hotel claiming they never received payment even though I showed them an email with payment confirmation.
Table/desk broken in the room.

275$ for just a basic room they boast free breakfast but it's toast and cereal. The worst hotel experience I've had yet.

2 stars because the phone is ripped out from the wall (the electrical outlet even pulled out) and even worse they had No sheets for the sofa bed in our room, only one extra blanket, no extra pillows— literally told us we’d have to sleep on top of a bare mattress— this is not sanitary. No house keeping available at all. Terrible.
Otherwise seems ok.

We just checked out and I’m not surprised at all that they don’t ask how your stay was when you leave. This place is in need of some major work on top of being in a location that screams sketchy.
The room was spacious, but I wouldn’t call it clean. There was garbage from other guests under the beds, someone else’s hair in the shower and soap scum built up on the shower.
The actual hotel was far worse than the room. The pool was only open till 8pm and had a number of very broken chairs that they don’t bother to remove from the area, broken windows, leaking ceilings, and jangly rigged internet wires.
Top this off with the parking lot problems. They put handicap parking spots near entrances that don’t actually open. There was a broken down car outside of our room with busted out windows, missing wheels, and unhoused people’s rifling through it all night. I informed the front desk and was told they had a tow truck on the way for it. That was clearly a lie as the car was still there this morning when we left.

Just finished staying here with my family, the hotel was perfect and fit all five of us. The rooms were super neat and clean, incredibly comfortable beds and pillows and bathrooms were super spacious. Connie, Nathan, and Priscilla were amazing hotel staff and were so accommodating and helpful when we had questions or concerns. Overall everyone was super kind and very nice to talk to. Our two nights here were perfect and everyone was so sweet! Thank you red lion inn!!

Trying to carefully cultivate my words for this place. Keep in mind, I am a server and I work at a hotel. I thought it was the best option for my stay in Eureka to see the redwoods with my family. Could be! But if we were to come back, I might try a different place. I did not get names so excuse me but everyone at the front desk was lovely and accommodating. Especially the little blonde spitfire when we arrived Monday night. She was a hoot!
There is a pool but most liked too cold to swim, even in the summer. I saw laundry was available here on another site but its laundry for the hotel, not the guests. We used a laundromat in Arcata which was fine.
I guess our issues with this place are
1. the cleanliness of the lobby restrooms. Resembled more of a truck stop restroom. Our room was clean, they gave us the option to pick the general area of our room, which was nice. Nothing bad to say about the room.
2. Breakfast, oye vay. We were in the restaurant briefly and noticed very few options for the take and go (free) breakfast. Very basic set up for coffee (which was fine) and we were going to order off the menu until....
the person running breakfast (who you could hear had cold symptoms, wearing a mask) made a comment about somthing needed to be wiped down because it was "covidy"
My husband worked the front lines during the pandemic as a medical provider and hearing that, we just couldn't eat there. I did mention to the front desk that this happened and they apologized and were very nice the rest of the stay. They did allow a late checkout to accomodate us, so thank you.

We booked a king size bed room. The room was spacious and very clean. The hotel provided with all the essential necessary. The hotel provided complimentary breakfast but they did not serve much. There was bread to toast, milk and some granola.
The only problem we faced was the locality. There were a lot of homeless people behind the hotel.

Pros: clean rooms, comfy beds, helpful and friendly staff.
Cons: run down common areas and exterior, inconsistent shower temperature.
This hotel had the elements that are important to me: my room was very clean and looked updated, and I slept well. The exterior and common areas could use some love. Simple things like weeding and landscaping and fixing broken hallway light fixtures would go a long way. We walked downtown - about a 20 minute walk - and enjoyed a dinner recommendation made by the hotel staff. Overall, I recommend this hotel.

This place is on the decline. The lobby, eating space, hallways are very outdated and there’s a funky smell throughout. The room was mostly clean but, I would not come back to this location.
