Was pretty but wished the trails were marked better. Walked along one to the earth sculpture not sure when it would end and wasn’t till we got to the end that the trail marker there said it was 1 mile long. The earth garden sculpture was…. Not what I would call a sculpture just a small bump of grass with some metal edging. I’m glad I went once it was very beautiful everywhere with lots of different type of plants but I don’t think I’d care to go back again.

This is a beautiful botanical garden. It is meticulously maintained. It is more formal than many I have visited, with a great many rectangular beds, poured concrete steps, an interesting drainage system and a square plaza. A great many of the plants are well labeled with both common and scientific names. Beyond the formal gardens in full sun near the entrance, there are less formal gardens among forested areas of the property. There are a great many benches for resting, visiting, or contemplation.

We would’ve donated a nicely to Humboldt Botanical Gardens / college - and tried to explain this but the staff member lady / gardener had such an abrasive attitude- we felt they had plenty of funds! Decided to donate our funds elsewhere. Lesson learned- just bc someone doesn’t “fit” your profile doesn’t mean they’ve not worked hard for their dollars and would be a giving soul!

We stop at botanical gardens across the country and this one was a nice find. Had wonderful native plant garden with many, many species of the region. Quite a few other gardens were filled with varieties of camelias, rhododendrons and many others. We took a walk to the upper area through the woods loop trail to walk the labyrinth. Very nice. We did get partly devoured by mosquitoes that swarmed us by the dozens. They did warn us and even had insect repellent to use at the entrance gate. We should have taken our head nets but didn't. The best part of our visit was meeting David who directed us in when we pulled into the parking lot. A wonderful person we enjoyed chatting with for a while about the gardens, the local area and life in general. Humbokdt Gardens are lucky to have David. If you do get the chance to stop at the gardens you will enjoy them very much. Dont forget to also say hello to David while you are there.

Oh the trails! There are trails for days here and so many wonderful plants and trees and animals and stuff to look at. This is a must visit place if you are in the area and want to look at awesome foliage and leaves and flowers and trees and stuff. There is even a labyrinth in a hill with a great view! Go and walk in nature and find your connection to Gaia ?
