Very nice vintage hotel. Clean rooms. Easy walking to shops in the area.

This is very historic (read old) hotel badly in need of room upgrades. The first room we were in had a window that was warped and would not close. Its cold in Eureka! The windows in the second room did close, but there was only a small electric wall heater and it took a full day to warm up the room. Freezing cold floor next to the tub. Burr. Feels a bit like the TV program "Ghost".
Even though the Wyndham web site says the bar and restaurant are closed, the bar was open. Only had one bottle of a cab available for wine drinkers! They also provide a very sparce "continental breakfast".
The trouble is there is not much to choose from in Eureka. Most of the hotels have been around for decades.

We stayed at Eureka Inn for 1 night during our 1 week PCH road trip. And boy, this was the worst hotel experience I have ever had especially for the price. I travel quite a lot and not high maintenance what-so-ever but this place left alot to be desired and I felt like all the reviews I read was a bit misleading.
First off, the location is ok. Parking is in a separate lot across the street for overnight. It is walkable to downtown things but since it is easy to park in Eureka, there is no reason to walk as the area looked a little desolate.
The hotel itself left much to be desired. It is one thing to be historic, it is another thing to be just plain old. Lobby area and courtyard is ok, but the room was just old and dusty. The curtain was torn and the lace was yellowed. The towel was thin and tiny. Thank goodness it was just one night. We had much better stay at roadside mom-and-pop motel than here.
I wouldn't even be so disappointed if the service provided by front desk wasn't so horrible at check-in. The "idgaf" attitude was very prominent.
Overall it just didn't worth spending almost $200. Highly suggest to stay elsewhere, and maybe skip Eureka altogether.

This was a very old hotel. We loved it. We felt like we were going back in time to the early 1900’s. There’s so much to see. Well worth the stay.

I really enjoyed my stay at eureka in the service was great the rooms were generously stalked and very clean great location for shopping and entertainment would come back again what are recommended to family and friends
Rooms: Very clean and nicely stocked
Nearby activities: Close to shopping and nightlife
Food and drinks: The food and drinks were great hair
Noteworthy details: The landmark and history insignificance of the building were very interesting

Walkability: A quick 5min walk and you're in downtown with plenty of shops, clothing, antique, dispensaries ,etc

I love old, historic places with a good story, so I was looking forward to our stay at the Eureka Inn. The lobby is beautiful and it's fun to look at all the old portraits of famous guests and stories of the hotel.
But unfortunately our stay was disappointing. Our room was very musty smelling, so we kept the window open (no air conditioning) at night, however, then we had to listen to the homeless people ranting and raving below our window all night. The furniture is terribly worn. Overall the room was pretty clean but a big hair was left behind on the bed and dust bunnies in the corners and along baseboards. The bar is closed ( I had envisioned having a nightcap in the hotel bar). I thought our continental breakfast might be in the beautiful dining room, but sadly that is locked up and closed too. A sad selection of breakfast items in a small room off the lobby with a couple of dying potted plants, was the breakfast experience. Sigh!
My advice would be to visit the hotel to see the lobby but actually stay somewhere else.

Stayed here for 2 nights, it's a nice house. You feel like you've been transported back decades. You could really make a great hotel with a beautiful past out of it. It would have to be invested. No money has been spent on renovation work in the rooms for ages. The rooms urgently need to be brought up to a better and nicer standard. The bathroom was really bad, too narrow and, above all, too dark. The lamps are probably from the last century. The staff at reception were not very motivated, that's not a highlight. The highlight was the so-called breakfast and especially the breakfast room. On the second day, we didn't even come into the room at opening time because of a larger tour group. But that wasn't a bad thing at breakfast. It's better to delete that entirely. It's also a shame that the restaurant is completely closed and the bar is only open 2-3 days a week. Luckily there are some good restaurants within walking distance. The whole house would have to be given into hands who know how to appreciate the history, but that's just not that easy. It's a shame about the historic house.

LOVED IT! Nostalgic and great service; everyone was great! The rooms are historic and very vintage with the wall paper as the added touch. Unique bathroom that I would copy. No a/c, but the windows open and let's in the fresh air. TV is Roku if you need to stay in for a bit. Breakfast is meh, but the coffee is hot and black and again the staff was great. Parking was accessible, check in was easy and overall would recommend for a real Eureka feel!

A beautiful historic hotel with a stunning lobby and very comfortable room. It was so interesting to walk through the property and view the paintings and photos of famous celebrities, Presidents and others who had stayed there over the years. The check-in staff were welcoming and friendly. Our room was cozy and clean with a nice view over the swimming pool. Parking was convenient and we were grateful to finally stay at a hotel on our 9-day roadtrip that had an elevator. I highly recommend the Eureka Inn.

Ok. I LOVE historic locations and try to cut some slack due to age. However, the exterior is a great indicator of the whole experience. It looks amazing, beautiful, grand, oversized, Tudor style and then you get close and see peeling paint, boards not quite lining up and get disappointed.
Pro: Beautiful decor, feels mid century decadent. Paintings and photos of celebrities, politicians and military figures who have stayed there over the last century. The lobby feels like a movie set. Walking distance to quite a few old town locations, including several restaurants.
Con: Desk staff are not customer focused, carried on conversation with other staff member while working with us, without even excusing themselves. The restaurant is permanently closed, the lounge is only open 3 nights a week. The breakfast is continental in a tiny room. The amazing lobby has signs everywhere telling you "No loitering" (then what is it for?). The room looked amazing, but again, look closer. The bathroom has 1 dim light, tucked in the back, making it feel like a dungeon, if you like showering in the dark you're set. No AC anywhere. Water tasted terrible. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable with small worn out pillows. Just a disappointment all around.
Rooms: Beautiful, no AC, furniture looks amazing but is worn and uncomfortable.
Walkability: Less than .5 miles to all things old town.
Noteworthy details: Beautiful, but not worth the price tag as it is missing all of the amenities that are standard in even a 2 star hotel. AC, cable TV, decent breakfast, courteous staff, lobby you're allowed to sit in, etc...

Would I stay here again? No.
I booked thinking it would be a hotel with some regal Victorian flare. The lobby presents well and made me think I was in for a nice stay. Everything felt run down and in disrepair. I had hoped for a feeling of the 1920s in a good way but it felt like the 1920s in the worst way. Paintinga of presidents and celebrities hang on the walls to let you know it must have been nice once. Double beds for two adults is right, the water pressure was horrible, the lighting was dim and no AC in the room. Windows open but no screens so got the big visitors. This felt like a $50 roadside motel not a nice Victorian stay not worth the cost at all.

Interesting historic hotel, wonderful lobby. Rated low on service as no dining or lounge availability on site. They HAD great looking dining room and lounge, but neither were in operation, and appeared to have been closed down for some time. Almost no place decent to eat within walking distance.
Oh, and it's an Easter egg hunt to find the rooms heater, hidden behind a desk! LOL
Rooms: Well appointed overall, but lack of a decent chair was close to upsetting. Our rooms chair appeared to be a single middle seat unit out of a large sectional sofa. Very uncomfortable seating.
Nearby activities: Very interesting old town area and lots of Victorian architecture.
Safety: Handicap ramp entry at the rear, but only 2 ADA parking spots in the whole parking lot.
Bathtub have VERY slick bottoms, almost fell twice while showering, extreme caution is needed in them.
Walkability: Only one elevator in the front lobby. If your room is in the Bach part of the hotel as ours was you will have a LONG walk to get there!
Food and drinks: Totally non-existant except for a soda machine near the rear entrance.

Old hotel with a lot of history. The rooms are clean and nice.
