“Just arrived in Escondido, needed a place for lunch. This is a restaurant located within a Carniceria. Not fancy, not a place for fine dining. Fortunately, we did not need fancy, all we needed was good hot food. The Wednesday soup special was Caldo de Res. I love Caldo de Res. Have not had any for several months as I needed a place that understands Mexican home cooking. Caldo de Res Huge steaming hot bowl of tender cooked beef with corn, carrots and cabbage. Served with cilantro, chopped onion and lime on the side. Precisely what I was in the mood for. The beef was tender and flavorful. I did have to remove a fair amount of fat. The corn, carrots and cabbage flawless. The broth could have used a tad more flavor, depth. It was delicious and I finished it all. It was a 4-star bowl of Caldo de Res. I will definitely be ordering this dish again. Service was exceptional. Staff here all 5-star. Everyone was beyond accommodating. I will definitely be back.”

“Great selection of quality meats. I came in looking for a Tri Tip to smoke. They had Prime meats as well as Choice and Wayu. Very nice cuts of available meats. One of the guys in there did me the favor of marinating my Tri Tip for the smoker. A very kind gesture after I asked for a seasoning suggestion.”

“The only thing I don’t like about this store is that they close 10 minutes earlier than their hours sign says. On Sundays it says closes at 8. I pulled up tonight at 7:50 and a man closed & locked the doors.”

“We recently purchased our Easter meal for 12 people, and it was wonderful. Nothing but compliments. The Escondido staff was extremely helpful and even suggested we should get the 8 lb. ham, but my husband thought we needed the 10. Boy was she correct! We now have enough leftover ham to make your bean soup. Can't wait to try it. Dorothy Siegel San DiegoParking: Driveway is adjacent (really close) to the building. Drive slowly so you don't miss it. We had no trouble finding a place. It might be crowded if you go the day before a holiday.”
