I found out Major Markets are locally owned and thought I would check one out, not quite knowing what to expect. This one is right near several other grocery stores so I figured if it didn't work out I have options. My first thought was that it reminded me of a Stater Bros. Still different but that is the most similar store I can name. While they have a variety of each item offered here the prices are simply too high. You are better off taking your money to Grocery Outlet and buying the same products for half the price. I will say this Major market is fairly large though. It still lacks newer features like a self checkout but I've also never seen it get busy. Overall I have not been wowed by this place.

A few years ago I discovered the Major grocery store in Escondido and was very pleased with their customer service, the store itself and what they have to offer. It is unique in that not only do they carry groceries but they have a wonderful bakery with baked goods of a higher quality then chain grocery stores as well as a coffee area and seating to relax and enjoy a coffee and treat, which people often do.The Major store also has a variety of very good pre-made meals as well as hot foods, salads, etc. It is a grocery store that I go to about once a week for items I can't find elsewhere - and I don't live in the area.

This rating is long overdue. As a long-time customer of your Escondido store for more years than I can remember, I've finally had enough of the dismissive and rude employees, especially behind the counter. No smiles, no greeting, and when I request an item, some, not all, act as though I'm disrupting their day. I have always been polite when requesting assistance, and saying hello, but hardly ever receiving a polite greeting in return. Sometimes one can chalk it up to someone having a bad day, but no, many of the employees are just plain rude. Perhaps those grumpy employees should work elsewhere because customer service does not seem to suit them. Here's an idea for management to consider--take a short walk over to Trader Joe's, go inside, and watch how friendly the employees are to their customers. I have spent a great deal of money at Majors over the years, but not anymore. I will gladly drive to Whole Foods from now on.

I shopped here ever since they opened! And loved this store!! We moved to another state and when we visit Escondido and need groceries I return because they always have the best Meat, the freshest Produce and the best friendly workers! I wish they would build one of their stores here in Az!!!

San Diego county may not look like it ... but it's an absolute desert of grocery store choices. There's basic two chains (Albertsons and Kroger) who disguise their duopoly under different subsidiary companies like Vons and Ralph's. And they all stock the same brands and mark it up to insane levels. When I actually want variety and difficult to find items, chances are that Major will have what I'm looking for. It's a 25 min drive from my house but absolutely worth it in terms of selection and value. They are rarely crowded. There is service when needed. They have open and functional check stands staffed by actual human beings who will help you. Beyond groceries, they have an exceptional deli and also offer hot food during the day. If I were closer, Major would be my primary store. It may not be as fancy as a high-end shop like Whole Paycheck, but It's definitely better in terms of value, selection and taste.

I worked here and they wouldn't let me sit down. in addition some woman with white hair and a lopsided face was very rude.

I go to this super-market whenever I'm in town to visit family; every aisle has something unique that I can't easily find in my own city. But the Pastry & Bakery dept. are exceptional!
