We just went there 2 times and Mr.Don Baldwin was really helpful and he wasn't pushy at all, today we are going there again, hopefully we can buy the car we want. So if we do I will comment about the car quality after a while.

I bought a 2016 Chevy Cruise Limited from these guys and within a week the check oil light was on. From there it's been a downhill slide of never ending problems that cost an arm and a leg. It's basically a piece of junk on wheels. Don't buy from Baldwin Auto Sales, they sell junk! ~ Unsatisfied customer in Escondido

I purchased a vehicle from Baldwin Auto Sales this past weekend. Overall, the experience was pretty straightforward.
I inquired about the specific vehicle I was interested in, went in to take a look. Don greeted me and we test drove the car, during which the car felt fine. When we got back to the dealer I asked to inspect under the hood to make sure everything looked straight, and then we went inside to talk numbers.
They are very upfront with their pricing. No surprises at all, which I appreciated. I asked if we could negotiate on the list price of the vehicle but Don did not accept. No biggie, I felt the price was fair, but it didn’t hurt to try. Don was helpful the entire time throughout the process, and was not pushy or impatient.
They set me up with dealer financing, we signed the documents and off I went with my newly purchased car. The whole process took about 3 hours from test drive to driving off. Ultimately a very painless transaction.
From the looks of it this small dealership does not have an onsite service center. So I am not sure who services/inspects vehicles before they go for sale. That said, I would implore potential customers to do their own research on the vehicle so they can make informed decisions before purchasing. But that applies to any used vehicle purchase, either private sale or dealer.
Overall, I can say I’m satisfied with my experience here and 200 miles later I am very happy with the car I purchased.

Wish I had read the reviews before purchasing from this dealership. Everything negative I read about Don Baldwin was a direct reflection of my experience with him. He was rude and condescending to the point of being verbally abusive. I do not recommend giving your money to this business.

Don Baldwin was very standoffish and rude. Never once introduced himself or asked my name, even during my test drive. Typical “salesman talk” as expected but also completely unwilling to negotiate price telling us that the car is listed at the “perfect price” and he would show us the market data to support it?. Ok, what car has ZERO wiggle room on price? None. Especially one that you literally had to jumpstart for me to test drive! Then when my wife was done listening to him and told me she was going to wait outside, he looks at me and says “I don’t know what her problem is.” I immediately walked out. Could’ve made a scene but it’s not worth my energy. You just lost a sale and a probable return customer as a direct result of your disrespect.

Save your time. Avoid this mom and pops dealership! Unprofessional, arrogant, unhelpful, unfriendly and No customer service whatsoever! I wonder how their business lasted for a long time.

I went here two times for the same vehicle. They would not allow me to test drive it without an agreed price. Once we agreed on a price they wouldn’t let me take it on the freeway but instead told me to go 65 on center city pky.(45 zone). the car fax was good but I felt like they were hiding something.

*DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS DEALER - SELLS BROKEN VEHICLES*
I would like to start by saying in all my years of life, I have never spent the time or energy to leave a negative review for any business. However, this situation needs to be shared in an effort to protect others.
I was sold a vehicle on June 15, 2023. The vehicle was for my 16 yr brand new driver. The day after the vehicle was purchased several lights on the driver's dash board came on, the speedometer went to 0 and the center counsel/entertainment dash went dark. The vehicle was sold to me with an intermittent electrical issue. I called the dealer the next day, they told me to bring it back. They took it to one of their preferred auto repairs shops ( JJR Auto Repair - They are not an ASE certified shop) to see what could be done. The shop stated it was a faulty alternator. The dealer handled the replacement of the alternator, which I was thankful for. I thought the issue was solved.
5 days later the lights came back on. Called the dealer again, and brought it back to the shop. The shop told me the alternator was bad and that I needed it replaced. The dealer stated it was under warranty and so they got me another one, but made me pay for the labor to reinstall the alternator they had just installed. In addition, the shop now told me the battery was bad because of the alternator. I replaced both and covered the cost for the alternator labor, battery and battery labor.
The intermittent electrical issue did not occur for about 3 weeks after this repair. Then the intermittent issue returned, but even worse this time the car just wouldn't start at all. I had to get it towed multiple times. Over the course of the next 4 months,, I took the vehicle to 2 certified mechanics, neither of which could resolve the issue. According to my mechanic, the way in which JJR Auto Repair installed the alternator was incorrect. I was told the vehicle was in a minor fender bender, per the dealer and the car fax. However, when my mechanic looked under the hood he asked if the vehicle was in a serious accident due to the missing matching panels, coloring, and bolts. During the mechanic's assessment, he found other parts to also be incorrectly installed, further indicating something major had happened under the hood, which was not made known at the time of purchase. Regardless of if the dealer was aware of this, if the dealer conducted a thorough inspection of the vehicle this should have been disclosed at the time of purchase. I believe the vehicle was involved in a serious accident which is causing the intermittent electrical issue.
Today, I went back to the dealer to ask for resolve. All I want is for this to be made right. I am a reasonable honest person and understand how business works. I asked for the dealer to take the car back at the price they sold it to me + plus $2,000 I have had to dump into this for repairs. They told me they would give me $4,500 for the vehicle, when I paid them $10,000 in June. My daughter put 3,400 miles on the car since purchase and it has been sitting in shops throughout this time. The vehicle still has the issue. They would not meet me with a just and fair resolution. I am now in the process of taking them to small claims court. I have never done this before in my life, and I am not excited to do this.
Please be very careful if you chose to purchase from Baldwin. They are nice people on the surface, but when it comes to making the situation right, in my situation they failed to do so.

Don and his brother are amazing. My wife and I just moved here and started a family. We needed another car and decided to go with a used car. When first deciding to go and buy a car my wife and I where skeptical becuase every car dealer is out to get you, from our experience. However, when first meeting Don we saw that he was not the typical "car dealer" he was very professional and absolutely did not try and "push" any vehicle onto my wife and I. Don and his brother are absolutely the best in the San Diego area. Thank you Don for your professionalism and absolute amazing car. Our Volkswagen is perfect. Go and see Don!!!

Save yourself the time and money: do not buy from this place. Within a week of owning the car the head gasket had to be replaced. The place seems legit as they provided a detailed maintenance history report on the car we bought, but there were clearly several things wrong with the car that were revealed soon after purchasing. After the head gasket was replaced the front fender liner of the car flew off while driving due to poor mechanic work. Then a day after that I got a flat tire (tires were extremely worn) and had to replace all four because of their poor preexisting condition. For the price I payed for this lexus CT it should've been in much better condition than it was. If you are not super knowledgeable about cars don't buy from here. On the lot, the car appeared to be in good condition and even during the test drive there were no problems. If you add the detailed maintenance report stating that the car had regular maintenance done throughout the years you can probably understand why I was deceived. My experience with the brothers was good, but the car was just not in good condition and several repairs had to be performed soon after purchasing. This place is not reliable, I wish I had read the reviews prior to purchasing a car from them.
