I opened a bank account here for my dad's estate after he passed away. It is an Oregon based bank (my dad lived in Oregon), but had a branch within driving distance of my home in LA. That was fairly easy once I had all the right paperwork. The bank employee who helped me was an older gentleman who was super helpful and even set up the Umpqua apps on my phone. No problems because the bank has branches in both states. Makes sense. Fast forward to two years later, I had to get fiduciary conservatorship for my stepmother. Based on my previous experience, I thought it would be simple and straightforward. HAHAHA was I wrong! First, the office now seems kind of empty and depressing. Maybe people got laid off during the merger in March. I dunno but the vibe sucks and no one looks like they like their jobs. I stood there for a while without anyone acknowledging me. When someone finally did, they assumed I needed to make a deposit without asking first. When I said that's not why I was there, they sent me over to the desk of a young man. He had never set up this kind of account and it was obvious that no one around him was interested in helping or advising. There was an older woman who stopped by and said "oh, remember I showed you how to do it that one time?" Then she walked off. It didn't give me a lot of confidence that this was going to go well. Then he was surprised that he got it set up and said it seemed like it was "too easy." He was going to have me leave without giving me the account number, or any instructions for use of the account. I received a lot of instruction about the estate account two years ago, as well as a folder with the account number, routing number, etc. So this felt kind of...lacking. I asked for the account number, received it on a post-it, and left. Two days later I get a call saying that the account shouldn't have been set up because we need a California Court Order since I opened the account in California. Uh, no. It's an Oregon Court Order for an Oregon resident, with an Oregon bank. I'm just at a branch in California. I called my lawyer and she verified that I don't need a California Court Order. In the meantime, Umpqua's mysterious legal team that no one will let me communicate with CLOSES THE ACCOUNT and puts a check in the mail for the money I deposited. Also, no more senior employee or manager would get on the phone. They basically shafted this younger employee to deal with this difficult product and be the middle person between me and their clueless legal team. Not knowing what else to do, the bank employee asked for a letter from my attorney that says I don't need a California Court Order. So, I'm supposed to pay my lawyer to write this letter that their legal team will probably ignore anyway? This is such a complete clown show. I'm closing my other two accounts. I'd rather deal with evil Bank of America or, god forbid, Wells Fargo than have my time wasted like this. So disrespectful, especially for something that has been put in place to protect an elderly person. They should be ashamed.

very disappointed as umpqua takes 5-7 business days to send you a replacement debit card vs overnight from the other banks, if your on vacation it'll be a week till you get a replacement card, not customer friendly as every other bank, overnights lost or stolen cards. Just fyi

Fellow Google’ers beware!! Save yourselves the time, money and headaches! Thank you fellow Goolge’ers and saving me many times by your trustworthy and honest reviews. Just taking the time to pay it forward. Unpqua “Bank” is literally THE WORST.E V E R.Preface, long but detailed and 100% honest review! Umpqua and especially their Grants Pass location that give out the repeatedly WRONG answers to simple bank jc questions (BofA, Chase and our several credit union accounts) ALL advised us of the actual true answers to the EXACT verbatim questions that we asked the scumbags at the GP location. There blatant scumbag’y and lazy employees hurt us financially when had they just been honest, professional and have even a tiny modicum of bank customer service knowledge that ALL of our other banks advised and guided us on (ie SIMPLE transactions, daily limits, options of transferribg funds..) literal BASIC bank customer service knowledge we wouldn’t have had the issues that should’ve never even been issues had they known literally the most basic of CS knowledge. They’re just gross. Literally just eww!!! We are so disgusted that we are happily putting out money just to assure that we have our legal attorney heavyweights, plethora of high profile connections, extensive finances and most importantly the desire to assure these scumbags don’t hurt, lie to, blatantly manipulate and steal from any other innocent and hardworking victims!!! Stay away unless you want literal idiots, liars and thieves handling your financial matters. There’s way to many actual legit and good banking choices that Umpqua is not needed!! They are literally the worst and most wasted time and energy we’ve ever been subjected to!!! WORSTE V E R !!!

I had called the online Customer Service about a question for my business and they did a phenomenal job on helping me with my issue and directing me towards the closest branch. However, when I was on the phone with a representative at this location, they were impolite, gave an attitude, and hung up before I could say thank you. I understand this may be a one time thing and maybe the representative was having a bad day, but I am in utter shock this is how you handle your customers.

I don't know about the bank but based on their credit card processing I wouldn't go near them. I cancelled months ago in writing, several different ways and cannot get them to stop billing me. Horrible dishonest company.

I cannot say enough about the stellar, personal and attentive service I received from my personal banker, Travis, at the Encino branch. He was always ready to help, answered all of my questions quickly and had such a lovely attitude. Thanks Travis, you're the best!

I write very few reviews but this bank is just so special I feel that I must. A few years ago a friend took me to the Encino branch of Umpqua Business Bank. Upon entering I was immediately struck with the feeling that this was going to be a very interesting experience. When you enter you are faced with two large desks/tables with chairs. Behind the table you will almost always find Travis "sitting " comfortably and ready to help with whatever your business is. Blanca, off to the side, is seated at another desk. We, the customers are welcome to walk around behind Travis, even past Blanca to Jerry's office or all the way in the back to Gary's office. Gary is the manager of this wonderful branch and the leader of this incredible and warm and welcoming team of professionals. At some point you realize that there are no bullet proof walls. You dont have to stand and push or pull currency through a depression in the counter under a plexiglass barrier. These people either really like their jobs and helping others or they're the best actors I've encountered. And this is Los Angeles. When you go to this branch, whether for the first time or the 10,000th just be prepared to take a trip back in time to, "Little Town USA". Instead of layers of barriers between you and the staff you will be so warmly greeted - by name - that you'll be tempted to hang out even after you've finished your coffee and banking.

I needed a home line of equity loan and first went to Chase which came to a problem, I found Umpqua bank thru a friend and within in a matter of two days my loan was approved, they did a desktop appraisal and was signing loan docs in within two weeks. There were no additional conditions or anything, it was a slam dunk loan and my loan agent Jerry Papazyan was extremely easy to work with, very comfortable in talking with him and he was very patient with me in walking me thru their website on how to use all my banking needs thru there. I would highly recommend using Umpqua Bank and I am a retired Sr. Loan Process of 30 years.

It's very rare that one can say that any bank stands out in terms of its customer service, but this bank truly does.

Over all I have been very happy with Umpqua., then I was in an accident and I needed to get car financing very quickly as I found a car I wanted and the dealership would only hold it for a few days. Jerry stayed late working to get the loan processed so I could get that car. They really went the extra mile, at Umpqua, in this case.
