Be aware that if you are going here for passports, they are only open from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., on Tuesdays Wednesdays and fridays, and only serve four people. Even if you are there at 9.

I always dread going to this post office. Today I had to ship something that had "hazardous materials" (a Magic Bullet with a lithium ion battery for some reason) and I wasn't sure what to do and when I tried to explain it to the clerk she said "you don't have to tell me your whole life story" then gave me an answer that was unclear. I went through the line three times before they could adequately explain to me what I needed to do. I know that USPS isn't famous for their customer service but this place would certainly be more efficient if their staff wasn't trying to get rid of you the minute you step to the cash register

Our oldest daughter filled out a Change of Address almost a year ago. Because the United States Postal Service uses only the first three letters of the first name for a Change of Address (July 2022), and since the first three letters of her name are the same as my husband's and son's, her mail is still coming here (July 2023), and their mail is going to her address. When I recently informed the Garden View post office of the situation, they stopped delivering MY mail completely. My name does not share any letters. Now, my mail is being returned to the post office (?) marked "addressee unknown". When I called the Encinitas Garden View post office to ask the location if two packages that were "out for delivery" on July 14th but returned "addressee unknown", I was told that someone would look into it and call me back (an hour ago). This is after I provided the tracking numbers.Additionally, the same post office accepted a package a couple of weeks ago which was returned for $50 additional postage. I paid shipping through eBay based on its exact weight and dimensions. I called the next day to ask for an update on shipment. The postal worker remembered the package (I brought it to the front desk, and it was marked with arrows and smiley faces). The worker said he saw the package go on a truck the previous day for delivery to its next destination and that tracking would be updated at its next stop. A few hours later, the item arrived in front of my garage with a note requiring $50 additional postage. This post office is not functioning well.

Helpful, friendly and very competitive compared to fedex and ups. Ship many packages and never have had any issues.

Set up my appointment online. Showed up 10 minutes early and they took me right in. I was out in 10 minutes. Very friendly women helped me.. service could not have been handled more professionally nor more friendly. Now I hope I get my new passport quickly. Fingers crossed!!

I have two issues with this post office.First, the US Post Office accepted a fraudulent request to temporarily forward my mail to a post office box address in Jacksonville, FL. I am suspicious that a postal service employee initiated this request. The notice to forward my mail was submitted with a start date of March 24. My husband had previously submitted a “hold mail” request for the entire household, starting on March 24 and ending on April 3. When we returned from vacation and picked up our mail, there was a USP notice about temporarily forwarding my mail alone, not for all at this address. Someone knew we would be away and took advantage of that to submit the forwarding notice. My second issue is this: When mail was being forwarded (against my wishes) to the Florida address, my daughter placed a $247 Amazon order for sunglasses. Carrier called me after I inquired at the post office about this package. She said that she had returned the package to Amazon. However, we found from Amazon that USPS delivered the package to the Florida PO box. The Amazon package was addressed to my daughter's name. What is the reason for forwarding the package to Florida when the fraudulent forwarding notice was in my name?

I’ve entrusted my business PO. Box to this location for the past 5 years. The staffing and quality of service has diminished SIGNIFICANTLY. The wait to retrieve certified mail is astounding.I would not recommend coming here or doing business here.

Carrie and the rest of the team here are super friendly and helpful! I had a complicated package delivery issue, but they were patient and helped me get everything resolved in no time. Thank you!

I love that this location is easy to get to and has 3 self scan kiosks so I can always get a receipt for dropping off my packages with a prepaid label anytime of the day or night. While the front office might not be open all hours, the USPS works hard all night to get packages out quickly. I've dropped off packages at 10 pm and gotten notifications that they've scanned in and started tracking an hour later.

Sadly, it's not too common that a USPS location has many positive reviews, so as a small business owner of over 15 years I just have to share my delight with their service. I needed help intercepting a package at the local Encinitas hub at Garden View Road when a customer of mine fraudulently received a refund AFTER I already shipped a very costly handmade item to them. Time was of the essence in tracking down the shipped package and making sure it got returned to me. I called the Post Office the second they opened, and Carrie already had my package on her desk, ready to process the package intercept request! She reassured me I would get my package back and it would not be delivered to the customer. Words cannot express how wonderful it is to speak with a USPS professional that is knowledgeable and helpful! I know Caesar gets a lot of props on here. Wish I could've spoken with him, too. However, Carrie was just as delightful and I wanted to shout her out by name! Thanks guys!! If I'm ever considering a relocation, it just might be to Encinitas ... I seriously need to experience this magical post office in person, haha.

This post office is a joke. Second time I get a notification that the package couldn't be delivered, but I was sitting in my living room, no one knocked the door, or ring the bell. Came to this place and the post master is the most unhelpful person. She justifies the bad customer service from the carrier. I'm pretty sure that person didn't even brought my package to my door. Worst customer service ever. Now my package is ruined thanks to their bad service.

This is a great post office, it’s spacious, the staff is friendly and when there’s a line it usually moves pretty quickly. No idea why they have low stars. It’s got a little area where you can buy last minute greeting cards and packing supplies, and also sells gift cards if you realized you also need to send a last minute gift. The best part is that the lobby is open for self serve packages even after the counter closes, so as long as you don’t mind using the machine to pay your postage you can still get things dropped off so they can go out first thing in the AM!
