Sat outside. Dog friendly. Nice turf for my pooch to lay on. Wine list is limited but the red blend was decent for the price. Bouncers did good job on carding, some people in another group had to leave bc they didn't bring their ID. Cool hip vibe near the campground. Easy walk and nice place to hang outside with heaters. Service outside was prompt as soon as I sat down.

Good old local dive bar, no food service the night I was there and for a while out of the 2 dozen patrons I was the only female and non local by appearances. Bartender was friendly and mixed a good drink, he also offered me the ability to have pizza delivered from next door. I will definitely return next time I pass through the area.

staff was absolutely horrible to a woman having a medical emergency and treated bystanders who helped HORRIBLY and then refused to serve the bystanders who helped. the bartender on duty yelled at the family of the pt and tried to force them to ignore medical advice because it was "interfering w his businesss". id never come back and DEFINITELY don't recommend having a medical emergency here. 0/10. however the dogs are great. giving it a 1 because it doesn't alllow for negative stars.

Yep! Shanty's a good spot. All the bartenders are super nice and they often have an outisde area to hang out and order food/alc. this is a great local spot if you're in the area! Aaron is a superb bartender. Enjoy!

Giving the Shanty 5 stars because it's a North County staple!! Has cheap beers, a large outdoor area with fire pits, heaters, and picnic tables, and two pool tables inside that always attract a crowd. The location is close to the residential area in Cardiff, just up the hill a bit from the Cardiff Kook statue and Pipes beach and close by to Best Pizza and a few other bars good for bar hopping. Never fails to be a good time at the Shanty.

It is a great outdoor place to watch a game. Inside is everything you would want from a dive bar.

Cool spot. Went here for nico's. The heaters made it nice to sit outside. The bathrooms were kinda dirty though so I didn't wanna use them.

Five stars if you are a divvy bar kind of person. They have two pool tables left of the entrance in a full wrap-around bar with an outdoor seating patio area in a great location. It's a must try if you're exploring low key

Every time someone leaves The Shanty without paying their bill, the bar is defunded by an amount equal to the total of the check, less any add-ons or pre-payments. While this doesn't seem like a big deal, it can add up exponentially. Just look at what they're doing at the drug store and the various five and dimes. Have you noticed toiletries and other hygiene items that are locked up behind plexiglass? I'm sure you must have, perhaps last week or during the warm summer months. They did that because the homeless and some other very unscrupulous and unsavory folks are taking liberties with the merchandise and removing it from the store without making a payment on the goods. That's a problem. It seems that nobody is immune from the effects of inventory creep, not to mention the homeless are having a hard enough time finding suitable accommodations, and now someone is trying to press charges for pilfering some soap and ear drops. Maybe if they could reason with the perpetrators, they wouldn't have to resort to these underhanded tactics. Just a thought. As you were.Parking: Be careful if there are any little geezers playing pickle ball in the parking lot.Kid-friendliness: The little geezers can play in the parking lot while you are inside gulping down a mug of frosty delight. Better yet, leave them at home with the inlaws while you spread your wings and paint the town red.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes!
