My wife and I went to the bank on Saturday, to open a checking for my kids college fund. We both had to be there, and it's difficult for me, because I travel a lot, but I can understand that. They now require a credit check for BOTH applicants. My credit score is above 850......My wife had her identity stolen in a bad way a few years back, and has a lock on her credit. Thus, we couldn't open an account. It's one thing, if we were asking the bank for any kind of money. I was actually trying to deposit $15k from another bank. It's beyond disappointing that SDCCU has this ludicrous policy. In fact, I'll probably close all of my accounts there.

Never do business with this company! I have been a customer since 2008! Recently I got scammed by online marketers for $83,000.00! I am currently legally fighting them to help me get my funds back! They have refused to help me! When I get all my money back! I will be banking with another company!

The mobile app is the worst. Takes many attempts to deposit a check. Customer Support is non-existent. Why 2023 they can't offer a functioning app is beyond me.

I've never had a bad experience here. I had only the lowest car rate I've ever seen at any bank or credit union, great customer service, fast lines, quick solutions. The only reason I opened up a secondary account at Bank of America, was because a small credit union is not able to fund a PPP loan and I needed that money during the pandemic. I understand people usually leave bad yelp reviews when they're only unhappy, and forget to leave great ones when they are pleased with service. This credit union is awful. They are the most unprofessional bank I have ever banked with. I paid my car loan off 30 days ago and although they are required to release the title within 10 days, at day 30 they still had not released it, which I believe in the state of California is illegal. During COVID there were multiple times when I was on hold for 45 minutes, trying to talk with someone about my finances. They don't call back and if you are on hold for a long time they will just disconnect the phone. Their call back number shows as SPAM even if you have their phone number in your phone, it's all just incredibly unprofessional and I found them very difficult to work with.

Impossible to contact monthly transfer charges, monthly charges for too little money ect. Predatory shifty app and phone system. Impossible to contact the physical business ect.

SDCCU no stars if I could beware low balance triggers unnecessary long holds on deposits which then cause stacking overdraft fees, Instead of declining transactions . A sure greedy method of kicking people while they're down. They don't have mobile deposit see their massive negative reviews for their faulty app they fail to fix for years. The poorly maintained ATM machines often fail to accept checks or even worse eat them without depositing your money. They do not care about customers. They do not have any phone service after 5 or on Sunday. Hard hit on your credit to join do yourself a favor and run from this institution.

This bank is geneally ok, but their rewards program is terrible. I racked up 50K miles, worth $500, and I applied to have it transferred to my account. They sent me a confirmation email which said I would have funds in 4-6 weeks. That was 8 weeks ago and still no money in my account. My inquiries got the run around with the branch saying the flymiles program is responsible, and the fm program blaming the branch. If I do not get funds by end of this week, I will switch to Mission Fed. Edward Greene

I'm really frustrated with them. I've banked with them for years and the last year has just been a horrible experience. Hours 10-4 really? How am I supposed to do my banking? I work for a living.Now trying to call them and you can't even get ahold of a human without entering account information. Just feels so corporate and dispassionate. I guess I'm in the market for a different bank or credit union.

As a member who still goes into a bank for loans, deposits, etc..., Miriam Habis has been a blessing. She is currently the Asst. Manager of the bank, but with her skills, she should be promoted to be the Branch Manager.She is very detail oriented and offered so many suggestions to simplify my loan process. She is amazing in so many ways, I actually look forward to seeing her smiling face when I go into the bank. It is truly rare now a days to see someone who does their job so well, near perfection. This is the absolute worst financial institution that I have ever dealt with. They reported my perfectly healthy (and closed) checking account to collections, which resulted in my credit score dropping from 818 to 735. The branch representative gave me forms to fill out and mail. Thank you very much. No one even apologized. This is the second time they screwed up my finances in a big way. The first one was a few years back when an attempt to deposit a check through their mobile app resulted in account overdraft and blockage. Not sure why it is believed to be "voted best credit union" somewhere, but from both technology and customer service perspective you should expect crap. Stay away, if you value your time.
