Incredibly helpful owner who was knowledgeable and informed with local literary information and events. Was aware of what was on the shelves, even if some things ended up behind others, due to the nature of the shelving being used.Clean, about as well laid out as can be, engaged, and outgoing. Would definitely recommend coming in and would happily return if we're even remotely nearby.

I was visiting and stumbled upon this bookstore. They had exactly what I was looking for and showed amazing customer service. If I lived in the area this would be my go to bookstore!

Small but Great selection, a little expensive but worth it because of quality and great atmosphere.

My favorite shop in North County San Diego. There is a fantastic selection of books, ranging from antiquarian, to rare and signed, to modern best sellers, this place has it all! The owner, Greg, is a great guy and is always great to chat with whenever I drop by. Whether you're a book collector or just a casual reader, Artifact Books is a place you must stop by and check out when in Encinitas.

I’ve never met anybody that knows as much about books as Greg. Great collection of cool books. Cool vibe.

The most important shop in Encinitas. When I enter, my senses tingle and I breathe a sigh of relief. The smell and feel of books are sensations that were once a mainstay of Main Streets everywhere and are now being replaced by vacuous hovels of shallow consumerism. This is a small shop but it's an oasis created by its wonderful owner (Greg) and we should support it and him.Enjoy!

This is a nice little bookshop, but what really makes it so cool is the owner. He clearly has a passion for sharing great literature and is enjoyable to talk with about the books in his collection.I highly recommend visiting and buying and/or trading lots of books from him whenever you are in the area. He's also happy to accept book donations and ensure that the books he can't use are forwarded on to where they would be used and appreciated.

My wife and I always come to Artifact Books to get old science fiction books to read while we're in town. We always get friendly and personal service and the stock of books is always great, not to mention the prices. We look forward to visiting Artifact Rare Books every time we are in town.

What an amazing shop! I have regular weekly appointments near this bookstore, and it finally piqued my curiosity enough that I had to come in with my girlfriend and see what was inside. The most interesting thing about the place is that it isn't just for the really difficult to find stuff. We spoke with Greg, the owner, for at least an hour, and in that time we saw a very old 1920 Don Quixote English translation (four volumes), a Dickens collection, a Dumas leather bound series, and so much more! He even has a combo first printing hardcover and paperback Catcher in the Rye.But that's not all. Besides the expensive and rare, he has an eclectic array of all genres. Are you looking for a specific cover or European release? He might have it! Signed books from a local or regional author? Of course! In my photo, you'll see the 1978 cover art version of a Brave New World paperback that I picked up while I was there.

Classic used book shop in the heart of downtown Encinitas. Love it. Charming spot.Really hope someone doesn't buy the building and turn it into a puppy doughnut shop or some other nonsense.

A little local bookshop with a dedicated parking area ? off the main strip in Encinitas. He had some current titles including the re-done cover art for the Dune series, Colleen Hoover's Verity and other recent trending titles. He also had a small children's collection, which we ended up buying a title from it. If we're in the area again, I'd love to come back and browse more!
