I am giving this grocery store 2 stars because the Pharmacy does a good job. Other than that this store is terrible. I used to shop here regularly but the produce was consistently old. I have not had other issues with the other food but also only ate prepackaged foods. I regularly hear fights and alerts occurring. Like one in every 5 times. The parking lot is much worse than your average parking lot for the area. There are a lot people milling around the parking lot asking for money and one guy even tried to powerwalk towards me. The lines are usually 3-7 people long with no self checkout.

The. Customer service was so poor it took them 30 mins just to help me, but the store is actually decent and usually has what you want. I came back on 8/5/24 to get a money order through their program. The only lady working it took a hour in 40 minute lunch. She came back with no name tag. I asked her name and for her manager and then the manager Cherice was unprofessional and defended the the worker from not wearing her name tag.

This pharmacy is the most helpful and competent in the area. I was sick and needing antibiotics, and had to switch to this place after experiencing the worst customer service at the Temescal Walgreens. First, I called in to check whether I would be able to reach a human, and not only did they answer within a few rings, the pharmacist was kind, helpful in letting me know how to order from their app, and the status of my prescription, and THEN when I went to pick up my prescription, the same gentleman remembered me from my call, and kindly informed me he had automatically added a coupon since I was paying out of pocket. I was treated with dignity during a time when I was feeling my absolute worst, and honestly it made me want to cry with gratitude. I am very grateful to this pharmacy and its technicians. You all deserve raises ? Customer for life. Also, to the people complaining that this place is ‘ghetto’ etc, it is not the store/employees’ fault that the area has challenges with theft. That is the entire bay area right now, and you should know better. Let’s support the businesses that are actually serving their customers despite these circumstances.

I essentially do the bulk of my grocery shopping here as I live close by and besides the pan handlers, overall my experience has been good. Of course, Safeway is a little pricey but I'm worth it. ?

I would give them 0 stars if I could! Customer service is terrible. Tried to go in two different times to get some simple balloons! How does one person know how to do balloons but every time she’s not available or on break and all I see is people running their mouths. Don’t waste your time coming here!

I tried to buy some fresh produce, salad, broccoli.... Even though I took my time and selected the best they had, it was still too close to expired or expired. Threw away 40$ worth of produce, yea, it was expensive too...
The only worth getting here is beverages. I wanted to get some packs of Gatorade and those are now 12$ for an 8 pack.
I don't think I will be returning to Safeway again. It's a zombie store...

One checker open, literally 12 people in line. They removed all the self checkout stations, but apparently aren’t adding checkers
I tend to avoid this place already, but this is absurdly bad. I doubt I’ll be back
You can find better prices and service at Target a couple blocks away, as well as at some of the smaller grocery stores in the area
