They got what you need at good prices. They’ve been in the same spot my whole life and the people inside never fail to make the community better. With how gentrified Oakland is getting it’s so reliving to have down to earth people who run an incredible market.

Disregard reviews from 2008. For context, in 2008 Obama had just been elected POTUS and the housing bubble had just burst. That being said, it's 2022 and you gotta LOVE this place. It's got solid selection of basic food items as well as beer and liqueur. Staff is super friendly and is not only respectful but respected by the community. Now the best part...The butcher? Amazing! Seriously, it's always busy and there's good reason. They carry chicken, turkey, pork and beef for like half what fancy places charge. I've had lots of cuts and varieties and never had a bad experience. I'd wager they move through stock faster than Whole foods does. lastly, their sandos for $6 are the best. Hella simple (in the best way) and always hit the spot. They just raised the price from $5. Amazing. Love it!I live nearby and North side is much preferred to the Hoodstar Pak N' Save on San Pablo. That place is a trip.

North Side Supermarket has limited parking nearby. at the left section is an entire fresh meat counter. at the center back is the beers and refrigerated goods. there's probably wine in the aisles. not sure if hard liquor is available. didn't look. in the center are snacks, convenience items and groceries. at the front order there may be cigs. didn't look. drink: "Allagash white" belgian style wheat beer (4.50 with tax/deposit) 5.2% ALC. -didn't see many kinds of six packs, singles just a dozen or so. limited choice. -not liking this kind of belgium beer. maybe it's the coriander and curacao orange peel additions.... -didn't see many known brands of beers in singles area. doubtful repeat...

Best market nearby! I love the community/neighborhood vibes here, the workers are so friendly & know everyone, and all around good selection of alcohol, snacks, and local goodies. Just tried out their $5 sandwiches at the deli & was pleasantly surprised–such a good deal and tastes great too.

I've been to that meat market twice and both times they overcharged me then sold me bad product. First time on oxtails then today tried to sell me frozen baby backs for $26.00

They have a number of vegan items that make this a handy nearby market for quick grocery runs for our vegan household. We often get Hodu tofu, hummus and carrots, veggie burgers, kombucha, vegan chili beans. Though the produce is not organic, we have gotten some decent to good quality conventional produce here in a pinch.

Total gem in the neighborhood. Great food and beverage selection for a small market. A big wine selection. Fair trade chocolate bars at the counter. Clean and organized. The cashier is always friendly as well. Highly recommended.

This is what a corner store should be. Surprisingly wide selection, huge meat counter with bargain sandwiches, clean and tidy, and the help is friendly and efficient.
